Important Notes for Participating Walkers Although there may be opportunities to stop for refreshments along your route, you are advised to bring a packed lunch on the full day walks.

Unless otherwise stated, all routes are circular and will bring you back to your starting point. All routes where possible have been programmed to coincide with local bus services.

Please bring suitable clothing and footwear for your walk. Whilst many of the walks are on country lanes, some are on coastal paths, off road or on the beaches, so walking boots or stout shoes with good grips are recommended.

Walks are taken at your own risk. If walking on the beach, please be aware of tides, streams that cross the beach and sand that can be very soft in places.

Whilst the walks in this programme have been designed to suit all abilities, please take care in choosing your walk and consider carefully whether you can complete the longer walks. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

All persons participating in any aspect of this programme do so at their own risk and neither Jersey Tourism nor their appointed agents and guides can take responsibility for personal injury.

The guides reserve the right to refuse participation to any walker if they are not suitably attired or in the guide’s opinion feel they would be unsuitable to undertake the walk.

All suggested bus routes start and finish at Liberation Station in St Helier.

What Jersey lacks in size, it certainly makes up for in natural beauty, stunning scenery and rich heritage.

Whether you choose to venture along the dizzying heights of the north coast cliffs, stroll down shady lanes to picturesque villages or take a laid-back coastal jaunt, you’re sure to find a walk to suit you. Without doubt, it’s the best way to discover the real heart of Jersey.

Unless otherwise stated, the majority of walks in the programme are free of charge and all are in the company of the Island’s most respected and experienced walking guides.

Around Island

Join Blue Badge Guide Arthur Lamy and Bronze Award Guide Christine Sangan for a week of exploration and fun on this unique walking extravaganza. Spectacular headlands and beaches, historic towers and castles, ancient burial chambers and “Green Lanes” - these are just some of the experiences you’ll encounter on this five-day, 48 mile trek that aims to take in all of Jersey’s coastline. Your guides will ensure you are suitably looked after throughout the week as well as providing ample supplies of encouragement. Courtesy coach transfers are included to take you to the start point each day, except for Monday 14th May when the walk starts from Liberation Square, St Helier. Don’t forget to bring along a packed lunch.

Hear about the southerly arm of St Catherine’s unfinished harbour and the bay, before heading to higher ground above Jersey’s ‘Côtils’, the steep slopes best used for growing our famous Jersey Royal potatoes. Leave behind the panoramic views of the French coast as you wander into woodlands, passing Rosel Manor, on your return to Archirondel.

Enjoy a musical walk across Jersey’s countryside and north coast exploring the Warsaw Uprising and Jersey’s Polish connection with music by Mozart, Wieniawski and Gorecki. The walk finishes with a concert in the historic keep of Mont Orgueil castle, a place garrisoned by German officers in the war. The walk starts at 11:00 at St Catherine’s Breakwater and ends at Mont Orgueil castle in time for some lunch before the concert which starts at 15:00.

The highlight of the walk will be visits to both the Blanc Pignon and Manor (Classic Herd) Farms; working farms filled with prize cows, Jersey bulls, calves, pigs and piglets.

Both farms have a reputation for producing some of the best Jersey cows and bulls in the island and Manor Farm is now producing prizewinning cheese from their own rich Jersey milk.

Deceptively Calm l 14:00 – 16:00 Meeting point: St Brelade’s Church, Lych Gate, St Brelade’s Bay Guide: Ian Ronayne Grade: Easy 3m (4.8k) Bus: 12a, Explorer Blue St Brelade’s and Ouaisné Bays on Jersey southwest coast are among the finest in the Island. Yet today’s picturesque and tranquil appearance masks a military past that saw them ringed with forts, towers and guns during the Napoleonic and Second World Wars. This walk around the bays visits many of the surviving fortifications and examines their function and importance in defending this part of Jersey. In addition, we visit the site of a Second World War graveyard and soldier’s rest home and recall Jersey’s sacrifice in the Great War. If you are in need of refreshments at the end of the walk, St Brelade’s Bay offers a host of options.

Take a stroll along the strandline amid the flotsam and jetsam, preferred habitat of the beachcomber, whilst learning about the evolution of our largest bay within the shadow of the historic sea defences that have made our west coast what it is today.

A rare opportunity to see inside the famous lighthouse of La Corbière just before sunset.

Explore the dramatic headland with tales of tides and shipwrecks, the building of the lighthouse and the men who kept watch for over 100 years. Cross the causeway, uncovered at half tide, and climb up the spiral staircase to the lantern room to discover the intricacies of 19th, 20th and 21st century technology, and to enjoy spectacular views.

Find yourself immersed in the spectacular annual orchid bloom as well as learning about other flowers and plants of the area.

May is also the time when the birdlife is extremely vocal and on the walk you will get a chance to experience the harmonic warbles of the reed bed birds and will undoubtedly get a chance to witness the majestic Marsh Harriers.

Easy like Sunday Morning l 10:30 – 14:00 Meeting point: St Saviour’s Parish Hall, St Saviour’s Hill Guide: Remi Couriard Grade: Moderate / Difficult – 5m (8k) Bus: 23 Breathe in the new day and ‘chill out’ on this Sunday morning jaunt around tranquil St Saviour - a parish with the smallest coastline but a huge green heart.

Meander past fields of Jersey’s precious cows and through valleys dotted with some of the Island’s finest granite homes, following watercourses that feed a reservoir reflecting a way of life not normally associated with this sleepy Parish.

Journey with Andrew as he descends from the northern cliffs at Grosnez, passing Le Pinacle, to cross the bight of St Ouen’s Bay. The walk continues as far as the coarse, granitic sands of La Pulente at the end of the Five Mile Road – a half-day voyage through natural and human history.

The beauty of the bay of St Brelade often overshadows the money side of it, but we enjoy a morning full of famous names and residents, drooling over the ambience of a holiday destination that is home to the fortunate few. This route along the east coast is by far the flattest part of the 5-day walk. Some sections may be completed along the beach. It starts with a short climb over Mount Bingham towards the east coast, passing Havre des Pas and the Victorian open-air swimming pool. The walk continues towards Gorey passing a number of forts and Jersey Round Towers, which were built in the 1780s and 90s.

‘Cliffs, Gorse and Cueillettes’ l 10:00 - 17:00 Meeting point: St Ouen’s Parish Hall Guide: Hugh Gill Grade: Moderate / Difficult – 9m (14.5k) Bus No: 8, 9, 26 An all day circular ramble across cliff paths and through unspoilt country lanes in Jersey’s rugged north-west parish of St Ouën.

Stunning views await as you explore the glories of the gorse above L’Etacq on Les Landes, Jersey’s largest single expanse of maritime heath land and a designated Site of Special Interest (SSI). As befits a parish walk, you will pass the Parish Hall and school, the Parish Church, Millennium Stone and Cross - and a few ‘côtils’, where some of the best potatoes in the Island are grown. Lunch at a pub or bring some sandwiches.

Set against the dramatic seascape of Noirmont, experience Jersey’s dry-land Battleship, Battery Lothringen - a relic of the German Occupation. Conclude with a guided visit inside the two storey subterranean Command bunker where the oppressive and claustrophobic days of World War II are brought back to life with pinpoint detail.

Visit the heart of the Parish of Trinity on a walk that takes you back in time and introduces you to some of the rich heritage that is associated with Jersey.

Find out about the Island’s agricultural history, its famous Jersey cow, cider making and all of this whilst you savour beautiful country lanes and encounter Jersey’s famous farms and houses.

Jersey’s wonderful west coast provides a spectacular natural backdrop - from the beach with its historic fortifications to the dune grasslands and the dense reed-beds surrounding the pond which provide habitat for a variety of species throughout the year. Within the National Trust for Jersey’s Nature Reserve there is much to discover: in May and June there are wild orchids and many other rare and common plants in the wet meadows, and distinctive plants in sandy or salty areas. Overhead, you may observe the marsh harriers that nest here, along with the sights - and sounds - of many other birds. A host of insects, including butterflies, dragonflies and other creepy-crawlies, assure a constantly changing experience with their seasonal variation. Suitable footwear and binoculars recommended.

There is nothing more enchanting than a secret garden. Beyond each filigree gate and behind every manicured hedge there are stories to tell; crumbling walls, terraces reclaimed by ivy, hidden glades, dolmens and ancient manor houses. As well as great views of our cousins in Normandy, discover lovers and adventurers, pioneers and artists, peacocks and red squirrels around every corner of this beautiful parish.

Granite, Concrete and Sand l 14:00 -17:00 Meeting point: Telephone Box, La Braye Café car park, St Ouen’s Bay, St Brelade Guide: Ian Ronayne Grade: Moderate 4.5m (7.2k) Bus: 12a, Explorer Blue The lazy curve of St Ouen’s Bay stretches four miles from north to south. Its wide sandy beach and hinterland make a tempting location for any would be invaders. Consequently, the bay has always been fortified to an extent, although never more so that during the Second World War when the German occupying forces lavished huge amounts of concrete and steel in an attempt to deter any landings. Visit the central section of the bay, viewing Napoleonic and German defences including an anti-aircraft battery and heavy machine gun turret bunker.

In addition, take in the remains of a forgotten First World War prisoner of war camp hidden among the shift sand dunes.

Prepare yourself for a spinechilling evening discovering ghostly stories of Jersey’s sinister past as you embark on a nerve-jangling journey through one of the disturbingly dim corners of the Island. As the experience takes place in the dark, please bring a torch, wear sensible outdoor clothing/shoes and take care on footpaths.

Around Island Walk Day 2 – Gorey to Bouley Bay l 09:30 – 18:00 Meeting point: Liberation Square, St Helier for courtesy coach pick up Booking essential – Call: 01534 448877 Grade: Difficult – 8m (13k) The walk starts at the Gorey bus terminus, below the impressive 13th century Mont Orgueil Castle that towers over the Royal Bay of Grouville.

The walk then takes you to the mid-19th century naval harbour at St Catherine’s. Once past St Catherine’s and some delightful hidden coves, the walk gets more challenging as you head for the Island’s north coast, descending into picturesque Rozel Bay before the climb up towards Bouley Bay. Jersey Parish Walk – Parochial Pastimes 10:15 – 17:45 l Meeting point: St John’s Parish Church.

Guide: Hugh Gill Grade: Moderate / Difficult – 10m (16 k) or two circuits of 5.5m (8.8k) and 4.5m (7.2k) Bus: 25 Explore one of the Island’s most rural parishes, journeying deep into the countryside through beautiful country lanes and the picturesque Mourier Valley. Discover paths hidden from all but the most persistent of ramblers. Pass ancient churches, cemeteries, old Jersey houses and a manor house before returning to the Parish Church. Bring refreshments or a picnic and stop for lunch in St John’s Village at 13:45, heading off for the second circuit at 14:45 from the Parish Church should you only wish to join for the afternoon.

Shipwrecked l 10:15 – 12:45 Meeting point: La Corbière public car park, rear of Corbière Phare Restaurant, St Brelade.

Guide: Pete Webb Grade: Moderate – 2.5m (4k) Bus: 12a, Explorer Blue How easy to miss the real story with such wonderful views along this coast, but lying beneath are macabre stories of shipwreckers and their gory trade. The unique sculpture trail leads us along the coast to discover the granite quarry that lined London’s Embankment. A pure maze of visual delights awaits the inquisitive. Nature spells out its own story too, with rare and very different flora, and the trail wanders off-road for this walk.

See also where John Nettles lived while filming the ‘Bergerac’ series. This wild area of Jersey is known locally as Les Landes du Ouest, a designated SSI, and was once owned by the monks of Mont Saint-Michel, France.

Living With The Enemy – The Time Team Special l 10:30 – 12:45 Meeting point: Gunsite Café, Beaumont – Finish at Jersey War Tunnels, St Lawrence Guide: Tom Bunting Grade: Easy – 2m (3.2k) Bus: 9, 12a, 15, Explorer Blue to start point, 8 for your return Delve into life in Jersey when it was occupied in World War II. What was life like for everyday people? What did they eat? How did they know what was going on in the outside world? See original trenches built by the occupying forces as the walk passes from country lanes to woodland in an area excavated on Channel 4’s ‘Time Team’.

Last stop is the famous Jersey War Tunnels; eat in the Sanctuary Restaurant or explore the tunnels for a truly evocative experience. (Lunch and entrance to the site at own expense).

Valleys, Vines and Views l 10:30 – 13:45 Meeting point: St Mary’s Country Inn, La Rue de Ste Marie, St Mary Guide: Remi Couriard Grade: Moderate - 5m (8.4k) Bus: 25, 27 Wander through the beautiful lanes of St Mary, passing traditional granite houses along the way.

Visit La Mare Wine Estate for a well deserved refreshment before taking in the views of France, the offshore reefs and other Channel Islands from the cliff paths on the north coast. Tales of Jersey’s heritage and the days of pirates all come alive on this exhilarating walk which ends back at St Mary’s Country Inn, where you may wish to have a drink or a spot of lunch.

Wildflower Walk to Fern Valley l 14:00 – 17:00 Meeting point: St Andrew’s Church, St Andrew’s Park, First Tower Guide: Sue Hardy Grade: Easy – 3.5m (5.6k) Bus: 8, 9, 12a, 15, Explorer Blue or Red Weave your way through narrow lanes fringed with wildflowers to discover hidden Fern Valley, managed by The National Trust for Jersey.

Board-walks take you over running water and trees provide a shady canopy. Climb steps to look out over treetops and admire the recentlyplanted woodland slopes before meandering along paths and quiet country roads as you re-cross the deep valley and return to the park.

Discover Jersey’s ‘D-Day’ Landing Beach with this stroll along the shore at St Ouen. Experience what the German Occupation forces had in store for any attempted landing by the Allies. This fascinating tour details everything from landing and tank obstacles to the massive concrete fortified positions.

Murder, Muck and Mayhem l 19:30 – 21:30 Meeting point: Royal Square, St Helier Guide: Tom Bunting Grade: Easy – 2m (3.2k) By the dim light of dusk, lift the veil on the murkier side of Jersey’s capital as you find yourself in parts of town that are ‘off the beaten track’. Gruesome events and bizarre characters; oddities and quirks; murder, muck and mayhem - within this twilight world, discover the events that really shaped the Island.

Around Island Walk Day 3 – Bouley Bay to Grève de Lecq l 09:30 – 18:30 Meeting point: Liberation Square, St Helier for courtesy coach pick up Booking essential – Call: 01534 448877 Grade: Difficult – 10m (16k)

Be prepared for a strenuous day of undulating cliff paths through gorse and bracken as well as up and down the many little valleys carrying streams down from the Island’s lofty north coast.

The route passes Jersey’s highest point at Les Platons, 113 metres, and the hidden coves at Bonne Nuit, before descending sharply to the finish in Grève de Lecq.

A Village Life l 10:00 – 12:30 Meeting point: Gorey Pier bus stop, St Martin Guide: Sue Hardy Grade: Easy / Moderate – 3m (4.8k) Bus: 1, 2, Explorer Green First came the castle; then the harbour. The steam railway and the coast road followed later, creating a thriving community that flourished in this beautiful village. Enjoy a leisurely circular wander around Gorey and discover the secrets of the past and the changes that took place in the shadow of impressive, medieval Mont Orgueil Castle. l l l l

Starting from the famous La Corbière lighthouse, follow the coastal path towards Beauport Bay. Enjoy the breathtaking ocean vistas of St Brelade’s Bay and Portelet Common as you head across Les Creux. Continue via inland country paths and lanes before descending into St Aubin’s Bay for your lunch stop at the Gunsite Café. You can join part 2 of this walk for a full day walking experience if you wish.

Winding Lanes and Wild Coastlines l 10:30 – 13:30 Meeting point: Jersey Round Tower, Grève de Lecq, St Mary Guide: Tom Bunting Grade: Moderate – 4m (6.4k) Bus: 9, Explorer Blue

Wander through the isolated private woods of Grève de Lecq and up to the winding green lanes of St Mary, past granite farms and cod houses, to the wind swept cliffs of the north coast. Spectacular views of the other islands and, occasionally the French coast, await as you return past the old militia shooting grounds and the ancient hill fort back to the bay where you may wish to have a well deserved leisurely lunch, afternoon tea or just an ice cream.

The More Le Mourier l 11:00 – 13:00 Meeting point: The Priory Inn, Devil’s Hole, St Mary Guide: Mike Stentiford MBE Grade: Moderate – 3.5m (5.6k) Bus: 27, Explorer Red

Enjoy a not-overly-demanding 90 minute circular walk to the beautiful deep-cut Le Mourier Valley and the stunning coastal headland of Le Rivage, owned and managed

by The National Trust for Jersey. Now part of Jersey’s Coastal National Park, the headland is home to a flock of very special long-horned sheep that play their own role in this ambitious conservation project.

Quiet Back-Streets and Country Lanes l 13:00 – 17:00 Meeting point: Liberation Square, St Helier Guide: Hugh Gill Grade: Moderate - 6m (9.6k)

Enjoy a varied and fascinating walk seeing the hidden side to Jersey’s capital. Wander along quiet streets lined with Georgian and Victorian buildings, leading out past meadows, woodland and country lanes. Head north through Regency St Helier toward Springfield and along wooded Vallée des Vaux up to the high ground, before dipping down into lovely Fern Valley.

Return through one of the town’s 19th Century cemeteries and down Westmount (Gallows Hill) with expansive views over the town and Elizabeth Castle.

While the towering cliffs of Jersey’s north coast appear to form a natural bulwark against attack, its many small bays and coves have always been chinks in the armour and heavily fortified as a result. Visit some of these defences, from forts to bunkers, all set among some of Jersey’s most spectacular coastal scenery. Hear about the men stationed here over the centuries, from local militia to renegade Russians. We also retrace the steps of the only British Commando raid on Jersey during WW2, a courageous but ultimately tragic attempt to discover the truth about the German Occupation. l

Follow the old Perquage path into St Peter’s Valley. Pass Tesson Mill and head along woodland paths that pass the Jersey War Tunnels and some National Trust properties. Discover some very old roads and the tree lined ‘Green Lanes’ of St Lawrence as you head up to the parish church where the walk ends.

As night descends and the ocean recedes, starlike shapes of luminous green (bio-luminescence) begin to twinkle and sparkle in a few special spots off the south east coast. Expect to get your feet wet - maybe up to the knees - as you discover and experience the uniqueness of this area. In just a few hours the ocean will return and cover your footprints by up to 40ft.

Head south today as you follow the west coast from Grève de Lecq along the cliff path to Plémont.

Passing Grosnez Castle, the racecourse and the Pinnacle Rock, the walk takes in the vast expanse of St Ouen’s Bay, known locally as the ‘Five Mile Road’, and ends up at the dramatic lighthouse at Corbière.

Head towards Grève de Lecq, passing vineyards and valleys on the way and learn of the Island’s unique history before returning to the Parish Church. Stop off for refreshments along the way or bring a picnic.

Explore the hidden depths of St Martin and picturesque Rozel Bay. Ramble across the rugged coast line before visiting one of the Island’s Neolithic tombs sited on the north coast headland overlooking Rozel. Return through the beautiful Rozel Woods, skirting Rozel Manor, to the ancient parish church of St Martin and discover some of the history attached to this medieval building. This afternoon’s walk ends at the ‘Royal’ where you can treat yourself to a well-earned drink.

In The Steps of Vikings – St Clement l 10:30 – 13:30 Meeting point: St Clement Parish Hall, La Grande Route de la Côte, St Clement Guide: Martin Walton Grade: Moderate – 3m (4.8k) Bus: 1 Enjoy spectacular views over the rugged southeast coast, and from a Napoleonic tower and remains of Jersey’s Eastern Railway, climb past a lighthouse and descend to the Church of St Clement with its magnificent medieval wall paintings. Return by narrow country lanes, passing a hidden dolmen and a green island. Finally, view the famous ‘Witches Rock’ and hear tales of ‘evil’ happenings.

Visit one of Jersey’s unseen private gardens and wander along peaceful country lanes discovering fascinating bygones of Jersey’s farming heritage. As we return, reward yourself with a drink, at your own expense, in the British Union Inn opposite the picturesque parish church of St Lawrence.

Simple Pleasures l 13:30 – 16:00 Meeting point: St Mary’s Church Guide: Sue Hardy Grade: Easy – 3.5m (5.6k) Bus: 25, 27 A rural ramble reveals Jersey’s farming traditions with a visit to The Elms, headquarters of The National Trust for Jersey. Situated in splendid meadows with its walled garden and orchard, cider-press and the old bake-house, the buildings tell of agricultural and domestic changes. A circular walk reveals surprises and secrets, before returning to the centre of the parish, where the country pub offers refreshments.

Enemy Across the Water l 14:00 – 16:30 Meeting point: Outside Archirondel Café, Archirondel, St Martin Guide: Ian Ronayne Grade: Moderate 4m (6.4k) Bus: 2

St Catherine’s Bay contains one of the Island’s most enigmatic sights – a massive breakwater stretching out to sea with apparently little purpose other than angling and the shelter of a few small boats. The nearby coast of France - for so long home to the enemy - holds a clue to its existence however. So too does the stump of massive blocks found at Archirondel, where our walk starts and ends and where we find the first of three Napoleonic-era towers and several WW2 German bunkers. After leaving the coast, we turn inland past the site of a hurriedly established gun battery and a long-established feudal manor, before returning through peaceful woods for a visit to a remarkable and very substantial reminder of the German occupation.

As the present fades to dreams, wander La Lande du Ouest amid puce heather and golden gorse, and let the soft, salty air whisper stories of this ancient land. Weird, wiggly indentations penetrate the rocky shore and, in the distance, the ivory tower of light guides us west to witness and hold the day in our memory.

Today’s walk will start at the spectacular setting of Corbière Lighthouse and head back to the hustle and bustle of St Helier. The walk takes you along the rugged cliffs to Beauport before dropping down into the beautiful bay of St Brelade.

Wander along the white sand before climbing to Noirmont Point and the war memorial before descending again into the harbour town of St Aubin and a walk along the beach towards St Helier. Certificates will be awarded at the end of the walk for those stalwarts who successfully completed all 5 sections of the walk.

Visit the beaches of five different parishes on a wander through the upper reaches of the Channel Island’s first Ramsar Wetland of International Importance. From Havre des Pas, original site of the celebrated Jersey Marine Biological Station, stroll through Le Dicq and Grève d’Azette - favourite haunts of Victor Hugo. Next, you’ll discover Green Island, Le Hocq and La Rocque, each with its own fascinating history, before heading round the south eastern corner of the Island to traverse the wide, rich sands of the Royal Bay of Grouville. The final part of the journey brings you to Mont Orgueil Castle, overlooking picturesque Gorey Harbour.

Most visitors assume that the Jersey parishes are just geographic area, but each one has its own history, traditions and administration and Jersey people take a great pride in the Parish in which they live. Discover these differences and learn about the ‘Jersey ways’ whilst we walk along the many green lanes and rarely used roads in St Lawrence, St Mary, St John, St Peter and St Ouen.

From the outskirts of St Aubin, find secret views of the Bay and glimpse into the past. Begin your journey through woods near the picturesque harbour, before venturing out (when tides allow) to St Aubin’s Fort, a Tudor stronghold rising from the sands. Enter a German war tunnel hidden deep beneath the hillside and pass through private gardens, idyllic woodlands, a quaint cobbled street lined with ‘Chocolate Box’ houses and a former railway line, now a peaceful country pathway for pedestrians and cyclists.

Starting at historic La Rocque Harbour where the French landed in 1781, journey along the shore passing five Jersey Round Towers and a Fort. Hear tales of ‘vraic’ gathering and shipwrecks. Pass Harry Vardon’s statue at ‘The Royal Jersey Golf Club’ on Grouville Common and return via wooded lanes, passing a ‘lavoir’, a fisherman’s chapel and some old farm houses along the way.

Heading south today from the rocky windswept cliffs in the north, begin with a climb from the slipway at sea level to the heights of St John. Follow a stream that rises in the north and trace its course as it flows south to the sea. Learn more about the Island’s glorious past as we walk through some of the prettiest scenery in Jersey. The walk finishes at the Old Station Café in St Aubin’s Bay. Bring a packed lunch and refreshments.

Enjoy a leisurely stroll exploring the picturesque 18th century harbour and town of St Aubin.

Learn of the riches gained from the sea, and from plundered French shipping, and admire the 17th and 18th century houses built by the merchants who created this little town. Head along the Railway Walk, through quiet lanes and return to the parish hall via the beautiful, cobbled High Street.

Les Écréhous are a hidden treasure mid-way between France and Jersey, a site of unique interest, protected as an international Ramsar wetland site. Amble between the cluster of former fishermen’s cabins and walk over huge sand bars which are submerged under many metres of ocean twice a day.

Travel to the reef by charter boat (with inside seating) and explore with your guide the exceptional nature and history of this miniature world. You may see dolphins en-route to the archipelago or a seal close to the reef.

Much old and much new to discover - from the days of steam, sail, warping stones and 19th century shipbuilding to the millionaire’s yacht marina and the amazing Castle Quay development. The Albert Pier keeps the RNLI lifeboat afloat and houses the Hyperbaric Treatment Centre. Interesting harbour furniture includes the signal stones, the quirky navigational co-ordinates, ships’ benches, Beaufort scale plaques and the largest steam clock in the world. Add to this the Maritime Museum, Jersey’s oldest powered lifeboat and a new £million harbour walk and you will hold the key to the quay.
