By recognising the components of the therapeutic work that makes the HEARTS (Hands-on, Empathy, Aromas, Relaxation, Textures and Sounds) technique effective, this book promotes peace, calm and tranquillity in palliative care settings and bridges the gaps in the choices that can be offered to patients.
Ann Carter is co-author of Aromatherapy, Massage and Relaxation in Cancer Care and is a senior complementary therapist and teacher within the NHS. She coordinated the complementary therapy service provision for St. Ann’s Hospice in Manchester and was co-lead in education for the Integrative Therapies Training Programme at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester. She is an aromatherapist, massage therapist, practitioner of NLP, hypnotherapist and also uses CranioSacral Therapy, creative imagery and meditation techniques. She runs courses for complementary therapists throughout the UK and Ireland and is an international speaker. She is based in the UK.
