JULY DCM RECAP

Thank you so much to everyone who came to the July DCM! We had 36 people there and in less than 5 hours, we raised almost $300 for the Kiwanis Children’s Cancer Program, Eliminate Project, and District Project. Everyone definitely had a blast washing cars under the sun and bonding with one another. Shout-out to West Seattle and Evergreen for bringing the most members from their clubs!

KEY LEADER Key Leader is a weekend experiential leadership program for today’s young leaders. This lifechanging event focuses on service leadership as the first, most meaningful leadershipdevelopment experience. A Key Leader will learn the most important lesson of leadership: it comes from helping others succeed. Participants begin by attending a Key Leader conference, which is a weekend retreat. Large and small group workshops, discussions, and team-building activities take place over the course of the weekend. Students have opportunities to learn leadership skills that will help them change their schools, communities, and world for the better. While exploring leadership in a whole new way, participants will make amazing new friends and have experiences they will never forget. Positive, ongoing interaction with other Key Leader graduates offers continuing reinforcement encouragement and growth of leadership skills.

Who: Anyone with an interest in becoming a stronger leader! You don’t have to be a Key Clubber! When: Friday, October 5 to Sunday, October 7 Where: Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp in Rhododendron, OR Why: Attending Key Leader is a great way to meet new people and gain leadership experience! How: Register at http://www.keyleader.org/Find-Key-LeaderEvents/Register-Now.aspx Key Leader costs $200, but if you talk to your Kiwanis, you may receive a scholarship!

PACIFIC NORTHWEST INTERNATIONAL TRUSTEE: CALVIN LEUNG OF DIVISION 66

GOALS FOR 2012-2013 “In my final year in Key Club, I have only one overarching goal – and it can be summed up in only one word: opportunity. What members don’t realize is that every single person has the ability to make a difference. Even just one person’s initiative can spark a flame of generosity and ingenuity. Therefore, as International Trustee, I look to equip our members even more accessible means to elevate club leadership, excellence, and recognition.”
