About two weeks ago, West Seattle hosted the May DCM and it was absolutely wonderful! We had over 100 people show up and that’s the most Division 26 has ever had at a single DCM! Thanks to everyone who came and shout-out to the West Seattle officers for being so organized and committed to hosting a great DCM. Speaking of officers, I’d like to thank all the officers in our division, especially the vice presidents and secretaries, for submitting their reports and evaluations in on time! You guys are the best  I also finished visiting all the clubs in the division and it was a great chance to meet so many new people in our division. I hope to see all of you at June’s DCM, which will be hosted by my home club, Garfield! More information is on page 5. One last thing – thanks to Garfield and Evergreen for representing their schools at the Hershey's Track and Field Games a few weeks ago! The Hershey's Track and Field Games is partnered with Key Club and helps promote fitness to kids. As always, let me know if you have any questions! In Love and Service,

Jessica Lee jessicalee.ltg@gmail.com 206-375-8065 Feel free to text, call, email, or Facebook message me with any questions or concerns!

Divisional News Divisional Goals 1) Increase communication through Facebook and email 2) Increase attendance at divisional events 3) Educate members about Key Club International 4) Help clubs improve Kiwanis relations 5) Recharter John F. Kennedy 6) Become a stronger division as a whole! 7) Contribute to the Kiwanis Children’s Cancer Program and Eliminate Project

What happened to John F. Kennedy? A few years ago, John F. Kennedy, located in Burien, was a part of Division 26. However, the club became inactive because there were no more members. One of my goals as lieutenant governor is to recharter John F. Kennedy and welcome the club back into our division! With the help of Steven Dang from Evergreen (he’s the VP of the Key Club at EHS!), I am working with the principal and ASB advisor of John F. Kennedy as well as the Highline Kiwanis to get the Key Club up and running once again!

Thank you so much to Steven Dang for offering to help me recharter John F. Kennedy’s Key Club!

Who wants to go to DCON for FREE next year?  One lucky member in our division will get the opportunity to go to District Convention 2013 at no price! All you have to do is…  Attend a majority of divisional events, like DCMs and Seattle Rally  Be a member in good standing with your home club (I’ll be asking your club officers if they think you deserve the scholarship!)  Go through an application process in January Good luck to everyone!

Divisional News (continued) As a division, we have raised $43.07 for the Eliminate Project and $146.33 for the Kiwanis Children’s Cancer Project (KCCP)! Keep up the good work and remember to contribute to the June DCM’s Miracle Minute for the Eliminate Project!

I will now be awarding Rainbow Board points for members who attend Kiwanis meetings! If you are interested in going to a meeting, refer to page 11 for more information.

Overview of KCCP Each year, thousands of children are diagnosed with cancer and with the help of research, their chances of surviving have tripled. Finding a cure for children’s cancer will benefit cancer patients worldwide because although research of adult cancers does nothing to help cure children’s cancers, research of children’s cancers can help find a cure for adult cancers.

Overview of the Eliminate Project RAINBOW BOARD QUESTION Refer to the bottom of page 13 What club is Division 26 trying to recharter? Why? Also, what is your favorite part about this newsletter?

Kiwanis International and UNICEF have partnered to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus, which kills nearly 60,000 babies and a significant number of women each year. The effects of this disease are excruciating – tiny newborns suffer repeated, painful convulsions and extreme sensitivity to light and touch.

Remember that the competition is split up into two sections! Big schools are bolded in the chart while small schools are not. At the end of the year, the two schools with the most points will win a pizza/ice cream party! One winner will be a big school and another winner will be a smaller school. Try to get as many points as you can!
