Social programs were designed to provide resources for better quality of life through, for example, wheelchair distribution, development of infrastructure including houses, toilets and water-wells. Income generating projects and health projects are also part of the Metta Karuna projects. The education programs included projects for teachers, students and those related to the improvement of the educational environment such as school buildings. Recently, JSC rural offices concentrate on common education for local community about ecology, human rights… etc.

BANTEAY PRIEB

+ CENTER OF DOVE

Banteay Prieb runs by JSC, was established for young people with disabilities in Cambodia in 1991. Banteay Prieb strives to impart skills and values that enhance the participants’ sense of dignity and self-worth, and provides possibilities for income generation and self-support after they finish the program. Here, men and women disabled by landmines, war, accidents and polio come to live, learn, tell their stories, and draw strength from one another.

ECOLOGY PROGRAM

Today, the Catholic Church stresses to critique the environmental degradation and global warming according to irresponsible development. As most of you know, in the process of development, the most damaged industry from the endemic environmental destruction is the primary industry that the livelihood of the local poor is based upon. JSC seeks to serve the poor through working on environmental issues because it is the poor and indigenous communities who are the first and worst affected by environmental degradation and the

between the persons concerned. The persons who should protect the environment here and who can sustain it are the persons who live here. The important sites for the Ecology Program this year were Stung Sen and Prey Lang as these sites have high biodiversity values and are important areas for the greater region. The team is paying more attention to these areas. It is the fruit of hard work and a lot of effort which the Ecology Program has put into in order to achieve a trusting relationships between the villagers, Buddhist organizations, other NGOs and the government. In 2015, the Ecology Program carried out the environment education for the youth in Stung Sen and Kampong Thom. Our records show that in 2015, there were a total of 11,259 seedlings that left the nursery for planting.
