THE CITY-SEA LINK
As soon as we speak of figurative art forms we immediately think of art and sculpture but there are plenty of examples of architecture which have touched on this theme in one way or another, albeit as levels (Niemeyer,Brasilia) or as volume (A.Loos in the Public Tender for the Chicago Tribune). It is necessary to take into account that the use of a figurative image carries with itself many implicit aspects that an abstract shape never will, we must accept this and make the most of it, play with it. This aspect treated more directly in the art world helps us understand how a steel dog weighing several tons by Jeff Koons can appear very light to us, or how we accept that an upside down bedpan can become a work of art due to the context in which M.Duchamp used it in 1917. Having carried out a programatic analisis we can determine some of the qualities that the project (the form or shape)should possess, albeitdue to its location or its function, to show them at a quick glance...
There are two main strategies open to us when it comes to finding a link(necessary in this case)between the city and the sea. One is to immerse the building in the sea as in the case of the Oslo Opera House (snohetta) The second is by using off shore blocks or stanchions as in the case of The Nemo in Amsterdam (see architects plan) The need to maintain a strip of land along the coastline means we must dismiss the first option and concentrate on a building which opens itself up to the sea and helps the city become one with it. To solve any problems caused by this situation we are considering using an automated figure, whose back and front parts we can change as we can also the direction in which it faces.

WHITE CUBE The main mission of the building is the exhibition and study of contemporary art. To do so we must be sensitive tothe changeswhich have taken place in art and in our way of exploring it. Aspects such as prevalence, the sharing of it,good communication, the ease of forming a discussion within it.. these are aspects which "The White Cube" addresses and which must be seen in the exhibition area of the building, allowing the commision to organize the exhibition. That´s why the project has been conceived as a building up of optimal exhibiton areas, with an intercommunication amongst themselves. FOURTH FLOOR_scale 1/450
