letter from the editor: jack malki We commence 2020 with a number of challenges, particularly with the drought and bush fires that have ravaged much of Australia over the summer and now with the Coronavirus that is gripping China and quickly having an impact on the entire world. This comes at a time when the print industry has already faced some extremely difficult years, with notable companies such as Whirlwind and Protectaprint closing their doors during 2019. In addition, we have environmental pressures to reduce packaging, reduce plastics and in general consume less. How much more can we handle?
Jet Life I Issue 1 | 2020
The answer depends very much on how you respond to these challenges.
2
Every challenge presents a new set of opportunities. The introduction of electric motors may have been bad news for the horse & cart industry, but it was good news for Henry Ford. The internet may have challenged classified advertising in newspapers, but it provided a platform for companies such as Seek.com to thrive with their online job boards.
This edition of Jet Life contains plenty of examples of how we can respond to the challenges we are facing. Sensory products such as the Rough Touch are driving sales up. Clients using our L350UV inkjet press are all reporting growth year on year. Why? Because these clients have dared to innovate, to be better and have provided their clients with benefits. These are just a handful of examples. Talk to us and no doubt we can help you to find ways to innovate or improve efficiencies.

ENGAGE THE SENSES
Jet Technologies’ range of sensory films increases the chances of selling your brand over a competing brand by up to 85%. Studies have shown that consumers are far more likely to select a product that uses finishes such as our Rough Touch or Soft Touch films over standard packaged products. Labelexpo Europe

2019
Labelexpo in Brussels is considered to be “the event for labels and packaging. Every 2 years the labels & packaging worlds come to Brussels to see the latest innovations and technology. Jet Technologies has been an avid participant since 2001. This year there were 650 exhibitors and over 37,770 visitors from 125 countries participating in the expo.
A highlight of our calendar is our Labelexpo dinner, where we host clients from Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia in one of Brussels most traditional brasseries. Clients are joined by key Jet Technologies partners including Pulse Roll Label, Asahi Kasei, Kocher + Beck, SPG Prints and Screen. The exhibition itself can be an extremely busy event and this dinner enables clients and partners to talk in a relaxed environment without the pressure seen at the exhibitions. It also provides printers in one region with the ability to talk with printers from another region. In recent years we have seen an excellent rapport built between clients in Indonesia and their contemporaries in Australia and New Zealand, with numerous visits to and from each region.
Labelexpo was held right next to the Brussels famous landmark – The Atomium (pictured on left).
