Editor is published by Jet Technologies Pty Ltd ABN 12 515 939 347 19 Rosebery Ave Rosebery NSW 2018After a couple of years of being couped up in Australia (I still cannot say the words “locked down”!), it would be fair to say that I have been making up for lost time, visiting clients and partners all over the world, attending exhibitions including LabelExpo in Bangkok in February). The one thing that I have been hearing on every occasion, is “we are understaffed”. How can it be possible that the entire world is suddenly short of staff – printers, prepress, management, sales, warehouse…all of it, there are staff shortages from Frankfurt to Hobart and everywhere in between.
I am repeatedly being told that THIS is stifling their growth, their ability to deliver whatever product or service they intend on delivering and making the profit they expect. In addition, whatever staff are there, seem to be exhausted and simply unable to work creatively due to the amount of work they are doing.
The answer of course, is that we need to focus on automation and efficiency – ‘doing things right the first time’ and doing more with less.
Thankfully, this is a theme that Jet Technologies have been perfecting for many years. Products such as our digital press, the L350UV SAI allow a single operator to do so much more than 2-3 operators could have done in the past. Reliability, repeatability, automation, all of these words are worth so much money to our businesses and yet, they are often forgotten or relegated to a side thought.
Whatever your business needs, I would encourage you to challenge us – challenge us on how we can help you to achieve improved efficiency and output – the team at Jet Technologies love a good challenge and I am sure you will be surprised with some of the solutions we come up with.

Screen impresses at IGAS Tokyo
After a four year wait, IGAS (Japan’s premier graphic arts show) was back in Tokyo on the 24-28th of November. Held at Tokyo’s Big Sight exhibition centre, visitor numbers were impressive, with a steady stream of local and overseas visitors.
Screen GP displayed an impressive array of digital equipment, showcasing their credentials as a leading manufacturer of inkjet and digital devices.
The L350UV SAI S has been recognised as one of the bestselling digital presses in the narrow-web space and was displayed, attracting strong interest. The L350UV SAI S is the second-generation of Screen’s narrow web press and has a growing list of installations around the world, from Europe to America and now more and more throughout SE Asia and Australasia.
Screen also demonstrated their new prototype Pac520P, high-speed inkjet press aimed at paper and carton printers. Operating with high resolution water-based inkjet, the press was very impressive with its high operating speed (75m/min) and stunning print results.
The press was first demonstrated at the FachPack exhibition in Germany to strong acclaim and was equally well received in Tokyo. Whilst no release date has been set, there are expectations that it may not be too far away due to Screen’s experience with the same 520 print engine used in their publishing andtransactional markets.
Screen GP is headquartered in Kyoto, Japan – a city known for its temples and beauty. Japan has a long history of respecting the environment and producing extremely high-quality reliable equipment. The current range of digital devices are well placed to assist brand owners and printers alike to achieve their environmental goals by printing efficiently what is required with an absolute minimum of waste.
Jet Technologies and Screen have been partners for over 13 years, with a long list of installations in Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia. For further information on Screen products, please contact dreece@jet-ap.com
