Welcome from the Deans
As the residential and online deans of the Helms School, we are pleased to announce the launch of a periodical newsletter that we hope will be of interest to you. The purpose of this newsletter will be to give a brief overview of the news made by our Helms students, faculty, and alumni at the end of each semester.
As you know, the Helms School is proud to be a part of the lives of close to 9500 current students and over 250 professors at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The relationships that we make while in school are so important and invariably lead to worthwhile benefits ranging from early career opportunities to lifelong friendships.
With that in mind, we hope that this new platform will offer another opportunity for our students, faculty, and alumni – both residential and online to get to know one another a little better.
And as we seek to better engage with our entire Helms family, please do your part and follow us on Facebook and Instagram!
We hope that you will enjoy this inaugural issue of our newsletter. We are grateful to all of those students and staff who have contributed over the course of the semester in building the content – with a special thanks to Titus Pettman.
As deans, we love highlighting the successes of our Helms students, faculty, and alumni, so please share this newsletter with anyone you know who may be interested in learning more about Liberty University and be on the lookout for the spring edition!
Helms School of Government and Center for Law & Government Guests
The Helms School of Government was blessed with the opportunity to host several fantastic guest speakers throughout the fall. Our students had the opportunity to learn from these leaders in the field about their experiences. Washington Times Opinion Editor Charlie Hurt shared his career path toward journalism and gave advice to the students. Tim Goeglein, a former Special Assistant to President George Bush, came to share his insights about the possibility of American Renewal. Other guests, such as Ohio Congressman Warren Davidson, also shared important insights about their time in government. We look forward to continuing to host speakers in years to come.
On Wednesday, November 20th, the Helms School of Government and the Liberty University School of Law hosted a conversation with former Congressman Bob Goodlatte of Virginia's Sixth District to discuss the current impeachment inquiry in the context of the history of impeachment in the United States.
