概念 / 緣由

Concept / Objective

這個耗時一年的作品靈感來自於一篇文章 關於一個平面設計師挑戰自己一年內在 dribble 每天上傳一個和工作不相關的設計 ( 一年共 365 個作品 ),這個設計挑戰現在 也在設計界頗有名氣。

This is a year long project inspired by an article I read about a graphic designer who challenged himself to post a non-work related design post on dribble every day for an entire year. In fact I think this design challenge then became quite popular among the design industry.

我知道以我的工作量我不太可能每天都設計 一個和工作不相關的作品,所以我決定於 2017 年挑戰每週設計一張海報。

I knew with my work schedule I would never be able to come up with one design a day; so I decided to challenge myself to design a poster a week for the year of 2017.

但是不幸的這個挑戰我徹底失敗了,不只是 因為有時候工作實在太忙,也因為有幾週我 會瘋狂的迷戀上我正在做的設計進而讓這週 的設計需要花上數週 ( 月 ) 來完成。 一年 365 天若我一週完成一個作品我總共應 該要完成 52 張海報,但是我只完成了 18 個 設計。一些設計我甚至會使用我工作上完成 的一些元素或是一些工作上沒使用到的概念 在這些海報上。 但是透過這 18 個作品我卻碰巧的紀錄了我 設計生涯中很重要的一年 : 2017。

However regrettably I have failed miserably. Not only because work got in the way but also because I would become obsessed with certain week’s design and then it would evolve into a complex design that would take me weeks or month(s) to complete. For a year (365 days) I should have 52 designs if I finish a design once a week. Sadly I only completed 18 designs. And I even used elements I worked on at work or concepts I recycled from work projects. But with these 18 posters I have somehow documented one of the most important years in my design career, the year of 2017.

之後我決定創造一個展覽來展現這個設計挑 戰的所有作品,我在 3D 軟體中創建了這個 展覽空間並在展覽的中心設計了一個玻璃裝 置作為整個空間的第一印象及焦點。

Then I decided to create an exhibition to showcase the product of this design challenge. I built the exhibition in 3D with a glass centerpiece to anchor the room.

玻璃裝置

Glass Centerpiece

位於展覽中心的玻璃裝置是觀賞者走進展覽 的第一印象,玻璃裝置利用透視的技法讓數 字 2O17 從正面看時貌似處於同一個水平面 上,就像海報中的數字一般。

The glass centerpiece is the first thing the viewer sees when he or she walks into the exhibition. The installation plays with perspective and when one sees it straight-on the numbers 2O17 appears to be parallel to each other, like the numbers in the posters. But as the viewer start to walk around the room he would discover that the numbers are actually in glass boxes with different placement and slightly different in sizes so from the front they would appear to be parallel. This way the glass centerpiece becomes a 360 degree experience, it would look different from every angle.

但當參觀者走進展場開始環繞時他會發現裝 置中的這四個數字其實位於不同位置及不同 大小的玻璃箱中,藉此玻璃裝置成為了一個 環繞全景的體驗,從每一個角度看裝置都會 有不同的視覺效果。

2020 東京奧運邀請卡概念設計 2020 TOKYO OLYMPICS Invitation Design

概念 / 緣由

Concept / Objective

可口可樂聯合 Adobe 邀請各設計師為 2020 東京奧運設計出結合可口可樂品牌 的作品 , 我一看到活動訊息就決定要設計 出 2020 東京奧運的概念邀請卡。我首先 將奧運經典的 5 大環重新排列成一個扇 形折疊邀請卡 , 如此一來這 5 大環能夠 重疊組合成一個紅心圓。

Coca-Cola with Adobe has invited us to create a work of art combining Coca-Cola and the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

當此扇形邀卡打開時 , 每層卡片都有不同 的意義 , 當折起時每層卡片重疊出一個複 雜精細的圖案象徵著多元的奧運賽事。

Right away I knew I wanted to design a conceptual invitation card for the Olympics. I began by rearranging the five rings of Olympics into an accordion fold invitation, where the five rings can overlap each other and become one circle.

The accordion fold invitation can be looked at separately, where each individual layer has a specific meaning. When the invitation is folded and all the layers overlap each other, together they form a complex pattern that represents the multifaceted Olympics.

2016 假日賀卡 - 雪花叢林 2016 Holiday Greeting Card – Snowflake Jungle

概念 / 緣由

Concept / Objective

2016 這年我希望為李肇勳集團 ( 室內設 計 ) 設計出能夠代表此集團獨特性的賀 卡 , 此賀卡擁有優雅的建築空間感 , 也 同時詼諧且充滿故事性。

For 2016 I wanted to design something that would represent the Steven Leach Group well, which is an interior design firm, so I wanted the card to be architectural, elegant, yet whimsical and story-driven.

我由雪花那得到靈感 , 每一片雪花都有 著絕大的獨特性 , 而 2016 年的扇形折 疊賀卡每層卡片都有著獨特的意義和動 物意象 , 當賀卡折起時重疊出複雜精細 的雪花圖案。

When it's folded the three layers overlap each other to form a complex and delicate snowflake.

I drew inspiration from snowflake because of its uniqueness. Every snowflake is different. Each layer of this accordion fold Christmas card lies an animal motif with specific symbolism.

CONCEPT SKETCH

將緞帶穿過賀卡當聖誕樹裝飾使用。 Pull a ribbon through the card to use it as an ornament.

將賀卡折成三角形並放置 LED 蠟燭

可將兩張卡片折疊成方柱體 , 或是重

於內 , 可將賀卡當作燈籠使用。

疊重組出各種不同的組合方式。

Fold the card into a triangle and place a LED candle inside the card to use it as a lantern.

Use two cards together to form a cube, or arrange more cards together to form more possibilities.

2017 假日賀卡 - 金色聖誕圈 2017 Holiday Greeting Card – Golden Wreath

概念 / 緣由

Concept / Objective

2017 對李肇勳集團來說是很特別的一 年 , 於是今年的賀卡我不只想慶祝聖誕 節 , 也想藉由此賀卡來祝賀 2017, 也就 是李肇勳集團的 45 週年。

2017 is a special year for the Steven Leach Group, therefore I wanted to design a motif that not only celebrates the holiday season, but also honors the significance of this year, which is the 45th anniversary of the Steven Leach Group.

卡片上的聖誕圈由金色羽毛組成 , 象徵 著金雞 (2017 為雞年 ), 除了羽毛以外此 賀卡還有許多隱性的意象讚昂著這特別 的一年。

Being an international design firm with offices across Asia. The wreath motif is made out of golden

feathers, symbolizing the year of rooster (2017), golden rooster is also a sign of good fortune. Aside from the feather symbol, there are also other hidden motifs that makes this particular design distinguishably 2017.

CONCEPT SKETCH

將緞帶穿過賀卡當聖誕樹裝飾使用。

可在賀卡內放進相片成為特殊相框。

或是將賀卡掛起當槲寄生使用。

Pull a ribbon through the card to use it as an ornament.

Insert a photo into the packet of the card, to use it as a unique photo frame for the holidays.

Or if you are feeling romantic, hang up the card to use it as a mistletoe.

除了金色羽毛代表著雞年外 , 設計裡同 時有兩隻狗的側臉 , 象徵著即將到來的 狗年。緞帶中也藏著數字 45, 慶祝李肇 勳集團 45 週年。 Besides the gold feather wreath, there are also two dog profiles in the design symbolizing 2018 (the year of dog).

45th Anniversary Animation

除了聖誕賀卡外 , 我們同時製作了 一個 3D 動畫的影片來慶祝李肇勳 集團 45 週年。

Besides the holiday greeting card, we also created an 3D animation video celebrating the 45th Anniversary.

在這影片中配合著集團亞洲各分公 司成立的時間軸 , 金色羽毛由金雞 蛋中綻放出來 , 並成長成茂密的金 色聖誕環。

In this video along with the company timeline, we see the feathers hatched from an golden egg, and grows into the lush golden wreath.

2018 假日賀卡 - 禮物盒 2018 Holiday Greeting Card – Gift Box

概念 / 緣由

Concept / Objective

2018 的節慶賀卡靈感來自於禮物盒及 節日時會使用的圖騰包裝紙 , 而卡片的 設計同樣的參與了可讓收件人互動的元 素以及多功能的折法讓使用性能更加增 添假日節慶的氣息。

For 2018’s holiday greeting card I draw inspiration from holiday gift box and pattern wrapping paper. I aim to create a design that is interactive and multifunctional at the same time.

我首先將隔線系統架構好後 , 繪製出卡 片上主要的視覺圖騰 , 當卡片折起時收 件人可互動的更換圖騰內的顏色 , 打開 時更揭開經典的聖誕裝飾圖案。

I began the design process by creating a grid system for the pattern. These two patterns then become the main motifs of the

概念 / 緣由

Concept / Objective

李肇勳集團在亞洲各大城市都擁有分公 司 , 此企業文宣冊可供各分公司使用。 文宣中包含各分公司聯絡方式 , 以及集 團的服務項目和範圍。

The Steven Leach Group has offices all over Asia, the corporate pamphlet is something all offices can use to promote the group. It contains information regarding office locations as well as the group’s service scope.

此冊子的外包裝有提供空間放置更多或 者最更新的其餘內容以及切口處可置入 名片 , 提供更多機動性。

The jacket of the pamphlet provides packet to hold additional or most updated contents, as well as an incision to insert name card.

概念 / 緣由

Concept / Objective

李肇勳集團於 1972 年在香港成立 , 2012 年集團慶祝了成立的 40 週年 , 亞 洲各大分公司皆在各個城市舉辦了 40 週年慶祝會。

The Steven Leach Group was founded in Hong Kong back in 1972, therefore in 2012 the group celebrated the 40th anniversary. Each office held anniversary parties all over Asia.

此邀卡為台北分公司舉辦的晚會 , 200 多位的賓客應邀參加晚會一同慶祝對集 團來說非常特別的這一年。

This invitation was for the party held in Taipei. The Taipei office invited over 200 guests to attend to celebrate this special year.

2014 紅包 / 賀卡設計 - 金馬奔騰 2014 Red Envelope Set - Golden Horse

概念 / 緣由

Concept / Objective

2014 年為馬年 , 今年農曆年更被稱為是 金馬 , 因此設計主視覺為一匹奔騰的金 馬 , 邁向嶄新的一年。

2014 is the year of the horse and this particular lunar year is also known as the year of the golden horse. The design naturally features a galloping golden horse, surge forward towards a brand new year.

2017 紅包設計 - 翱翔 2017 Red Envelope - SOAR

概念 / 緣由

Concept / Objective

2017 年我想設計出非傳統框架內的紅包 , 我 受到 Alexander McQueen 展覽 Savage Beauty 的啟發決定使用金色羽毛作為今年 紅包設計的主視覺 (2017 年為雞年 )。

2017 I wanted to design something unconventional. I was inspired by Alexander McQueen’s exhibition titled Savage Beauty and 2017 being the year of rooster, I decided to use gold feather as the main design element.

與其使用傳統的新年祝賀 , 我只將 2017 SOAR( 翱翔 ) 的字樣放於紅包上 , SOAR 字 體的排列方式有如數字 2017 的鏡中反射 , 提點著羽毛設計的巧思。

Instead of any traditional greeting for Lunar New Year, I simply put down “2017 SOAR” on the red envelope. The word SOAR appears to be mirrored for the number 2017, which foreshadows the feather design motif.

金色羽毛直式的排列於紅包上 , 乍看下羽毛 只是圍繞著紅包 , 但若將紅包放置於鏡子前 將會看到一對金色展翅的翅膀 , 準備翱翔。

The gold feather pattern is applied vertically so it only appears to be groups of feathers wrapping around the red envelope. It is not until you hold it in front of the mirror in certain angle you will then see a pair of wings spread wide, ready to soar.

2018 紅包設計 - 萬象更新 2018 Red Envelope - New Beginning

概念 / 緣由

Concept / Objective

新年紅包常見都會用書法寫下 " 福 " 或 " 吉祥 " 等字 , 但我想要設計出一個 新的概念。

Usually red envelope for Chinese New Year would use words like " 福 "(Joy) or " 春 "(Spring), but I wanted to design a new concept.

我用書法寫下了 " 新 ", 但藏了數字 2018 在這個字裡面 , 象徵 2018 為新的一年 , 新的開始。

I wrote the Chinese word for "New" in calligraphy ( 新 ), but hid the number 2018 inside the character, symbolizing a new beginning for 2018.


由於燙金設計和光反射的陰暗面 , 不同的角度看此紅包 , 數字 2018 會更加明顯。 Due to the bronzing effect and how light reflects on the envelope. At certain angles the number 2018 becomes more visible.

2019 紅包設計 - 諸事皆可能 2019 Red Envelope - Anything is Possible

概念 / 緣由

Concept / Objective

2018 為豬年 , 而今年的紅包設計概念我 想作為去年設計概念的衍生 . 2018 的紅 包設計概念為萬象更新。

2018 is the year of Pig, and I want the red envelope design this year to be a continuation of the design concept of last year. For 2018, the concept was New Beginning. So after a brand new beginning I wanted 2019 to be full of endless possibilities, hence I made a pig fly on my red envelope.

而經過了去年全新的開始後 , 我希望今 年充滿無限的可能 , 於是在今年的紅包 上我讓一隻豬飛了起來。 因為在英文裡有一句諺語 : When Pigs Fly, Anything is Possible ( 只要豬能飛 , 什麼事都有可能 )。

Because you know what they say: When Pigs Fly, Anything is Possible. Which coincidently the first character ( 諸 ) of the phrase “Anything is Possible” in Chinese is pronounced the same as the character for “Pig” ( 豬 ).

概念 / 緣由

Concept / Objective

中秋節月餅禮盒的包裝設計 , 金黃色的 月餅在深灰色的包裝中有如黑夜中的黃 色月亮。

Package design for Moon Cake during the Moon Festival. The golden moon cake inside the dark gray package resembles a yellow moon in the night sky.

使用摟空剪裁以及簡單的幾何圖形和線 條表達出月兔 , 月亮週期 , 以及團圓。

The cut-out of the box is actually rabbit silhouettes (symbolic animal of the Moon Festival),

用有別於傳統色調 , 較為天文及隱性的 設計慶祝這節日。

Concept / Objective

此案最初是作為 3D 建模的練習, 並嘗試創建一個展示咖啡館品牌設計 的平台。

This project began as a practice on 3D modeling and the attempt to create a platform for a cafe branding design. It then quickly evolves into something a lot more complex.

此咖啡館設計為一人即可營業 , ( 名稱 “一人咖啡” 由來 )

The cafe aimed to be operated by one person, hence the name "One Man Cafe".

座位的擺放方式讓顧客可自行服務並 透過不同的座位設計 : 站立吧台 , 高 吧座位 , 矮凳座位 可一次滿足不同族群不同享用咖啡方 式之嗜好。

The seating around the cafe are designed in a way so that the customers can self-serve. By providing different seating arrangements: standing bar table, high bar seats, sitting bench. It will be able to satisfied all types of coffee-drinking habits.

以字母”K”為設計中心,貌似馬丁尼 高腳酒杯的典雅字型設計傳遞出了本企 業的現代風格,簡單的幾何圖形加上俐 落的英文字體將企業休閒美式的風格完 美展現。

Using the letter “K” as the base to design the symbol of an elegant martini glass; the chic type and geometric shapes convey the restaurant’s modern style and relaxed attitude.

以字母”A”為設計中心,貌似積木的 字型設計象徵著堅固的穩定性也表達出 了孩子源源不斷的創意。正方色塊中呈 現的大人和小孩的手剪影 , 表達出了師 生間關懷與傳承之意念。

By using the letter “A” as the base to design a symbol that resembles building blocks that children play with, it symbolizes the endless creativity and stability. The square block shows the hands of an adult and a child.

Concept / Objective

以企業名稱 2 Kids 為設計主要視覺焦 點,創造出一個易辨識易記憶的企業 商標。兩位孩子的剪影緊握著手,彷 彿要一同前往 Wonderland 大冒險, 一同發掘驚奇的世界。下方的 “in Wonderland” 使用較為隨性的英文字 體,展現出 wonderland 活潑充滿魔力 的氛圍,也加強本企業所主打的形象。

By using the corporate name “2 Kids” as the main design element, the wordmark is easy to recognize and memorable. The silhouettes of two kids holding hands appear to be ready to embark a great adventure, representing the corporate’s brand spirit.
