DESIGN DESCRIPTION As The White House is brushed white and opaque every year, The Black House will stay black and reflective in the memories of the past. As the brightest of lights emerges from the darkness, our bright symbol of democracy will face the gravitas of the sacrifice given to sustain it. In the daytime, walking into the shape of an army tent creates a night which remembers the darkness the war, and rising from it, a skylight pentagram star of the army, representing the heroes who holds up the sky, who brings starlight as rays of hope. A hovering light falls down as a stopped bullet, frozen in time as a memory of their sacrifice in war.

RETURN VOYAGE URBAN DESIGN
Jan.12.- Jan 26.2015 New Orleans.LA.USA ULI (Urban Land Institute) Gerald D. Hines Student Urban Design Competition Group Work: Jie Xu, Zhuangyuan Fan, Muhan Cui, Yao Meng
Identity – Sense of Belonging To enhance the connection of both sides of the site separated by the interstate highway, the development plan takesadvantage of the area adjacent to the highway in Block I, creating joiningLaffite Greenway and the historic St. Louis Cemetery. With the help of numerousarts and culture nonprofit organizations, public spaces have the opportunity to play as artists’ canvases on the site. The design language stretches throughout the site and includes artful hardscapes and playful landscapes with varied topographic change. Resilience – Design with Risk Return Voyageresponds to ecological and social issuespost-Katrina with a resilient solution for the area. The creation of a semi-open canal not only slows down and stores storm-water, but also provides an engaging public space by symbolically unearthing the canal that ran through the site over 100 years ago. Other moves, like green roofs, bio-swales, rain gardens, pervious paving, exfiltration basins and subsurface storage, are used as a mitigation strategy for flooding. The mitigation move is integrated into the design. For instance, the amphitheater can also act as a storage basin in the storm.

GARDEN DESIGN
Feb-Mar.2012 Bridesburg,Philadelphia.PA.USA University of Pennsylvania LARP 502,Spring 2012 Instructor: Karen M’Closkey
This is a garden lying at a fork in the road. The zigzag path runs through the meadow slope with undulating X and W-shape. Meadow grows in sparsity, blurring your eyes: She is glistening yet shaded, she is enchanting yet gloomy; Meadow sprawls, obscuring the path: She has brushed past but is yet to come, she has arrived but has already gone. What you see is invisible, what you pass is not a road. No matter how you choose to depart, There was ever a garden, here, there was never a garden, here.
This is a garden lying at a fork in the road. At the confluence of X and W-shape meadow slope, is where you fall in deeper and deeper. The ground under your feet is gradually above and hide you away; You come with the light while flee away in seeking the light. No matter how you choose to depart, there was ever a garden, here, there was never a garden, here.
This is a garden lying at a fork in the road. No matter which way you take, there are two paths to leave: One exit is called remember, another is called forgetting. No matter how you choose to depart, there was ever a garden, here, there was never a garden, here.

The growth of a child is actually a process when their social skills and physical conditions gradually become stronger and harder. Children’s health care and education are also developed aiming at the growing process. Furthermore, we are eager to be rejuvenated in adults’ mentality with the growth of ages since the soft simplicity of children are becoming the treasure of a society in people’s growth. Strong adults are present at the place where there might not be children in it, but guards and leaders could follow children, start to be involved in children’s life. In my project, children is the starting point as they will be the major service objects. Meanwhile, they will also be the core to center all the related programs so as to expand the programs to the adults. The intention is to soften all the adults mentality when they are taking care of the children.

We are all born with shackles. At first, we are limited by too many factors: the rigid rules, the old habit, the idol ... Then, we try to struggle in our life, facing our limitation and develop our potential, we follow the signal and decode the fate. “ ... man is something that must be surpassed. —That man is a bridge and not a goal...” (Thus Spake Zarathustra) Finally, Dionysus is calling, he throws the cloak of dream and inebriation around us which keep us from being ruined by the truth. We begin to create the future of our own, we sing as we want and dance as we want. Now, we break through the gate, leaving the twilight of the idol behind and welcome the dawning of the freedom.

We choose “protection” out of two considerations: one is the mercy upon the protected; the other is the guiltiness about human’s selfishness. Chuang-Tzu:Nature has spectacular beauty but never boasts. Bird is the sign of the forest, and there’s no better place than the forest for them to live in. Thus, it is not my priority to seek a certain form or its function. Just like a sculpture at a certain place, I make a nest for anyone who’d like to live in.out of consideration of nature concervation and humanism, following Master Hong Yi,who created the painting album Protection of Life,I name it “Nest Protecting Life” to let people cultivate their compassion and mercy upon life.

2.Regretting its concreteness, I start to seek for its far-reaching profoundness, to sense its stability, and to perceive its calmness. 0. Nothing
1. The first presentation, I want to enabe the spectators to recognize a Buddha head.
3.Gradually, I forget the complexity; however, I still admire its solemnity and grandeur.
4.And then, the scars left by passing time healed up gradually, I begin to get a glimpse of the interest of Zen.
Finally, I realized what haunted me previously is the untied knot in my heart.
0. Nothing
Suddenly, I was deeply touched by its kindness, its elegance, its mellowness without affectation.
