DIVISIONAL NEWSLETTER
A WORD FROM OUR LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR Let me start off by introducing myself. My name is Helen Nguyen and I am OTTERly proud to be serving as Division 4 North’s Lieutenant Governor. It has only been a little over a month since I was installed as Lieutenant Governor, yet I feel the love increasingly grow within the division as more members start attending events and DCMs! Our division has already accomplished so much these past months, such as over 1,595 total service hours! Keep up the great job otters! June is finally here and that means summer vacation is quickly approaching! I know school has been rough these past few weeks, but we’ve only got a few more weeks of tests, projects, and finals left, so let’s pull through and end this school year with a SPLASH! Speaking of summer- it’s a great time for club officers to plan ahead! Please utilize the summer to plan even more service events, club fundraisers, and if given any chance, visit your sponsoring Kiwanis. Try to encourage all of your otters to stay involved during summer by going to service events and division/ region events. Be productive and take advantage of this time to use it wisely! Most importantly though, have fun and make SUMMER 2012 one to remember! Although the summer will be making the temperature HOTTER, it give us a chance to spend time with our OTTERS! So let’s start the first month of summer “diving” into lots of service! Be sure to be on the lookout for these OTTERly awesome fundraisers and events in these upcoming months! Your lovely Division Leadership Team and I have a whole bunch of fun events planned for our division to participate in during the summer. Also, please join us at our next June DCM and the Region 3 Officer Training Conference! It’s going to be unBEElievably fun and I absolutely cannot wait to see all you otters there! If you haven’t already, make sure you introduce yourself to me at the upcoming events because I love meeting all of my fellow otters! Remember, I am here to serve YOU and I want to be able to make this year one of your best experiences in Key Club. If there is anything you ever need, don’t hesitate to ask! I am always here for you; just remember that I’m only an e-mail or phone call away! J Have an amazing last few weeks of school and I hope to see you all soon!

Hey there division 4 North! My name is Rachael Yi and I am your new divisional executive assistant for this upcoming year! Key Club has effected my life so greatly during the past year, and I can't believe that I have this amazing opportunity to represent all of you. I never would have expected myself to be in the position that I am now, and I know I have a lot to prove. So I will be working hard and trying my best to fulfill all that this position asks of me. I look forward to getting to know all of you, and I hope we have a fun and spirited upcoming year! I know we will though because Division 4North is FEELING GOOD ALL OF THE HENRY QUACH DIVISIONAL SECRETARY
Hello! My name is Henry Quach and I’m a junior from Garden Grove High School. I love reading, and building things, whether there are instructions or I must improvise. I joined Key Club during my freshman year and progressively grew more active as I served in volunteer events. I love how loud and proud and SPIRITED our Key Club family is, and I believe that it’s what sets us apart from other service clubs. I want to help Division 4 North SHINE, and I am open to any suggestions that might help make D4N even better.

And for me to be appointed this position, I am breathless. Fun? We had that. Spirit. We’re overflowed with that. Where did we go? DCON! DCON was purely awesome. This year’s District Convention was a whopping 6hr drive away at the Santa Clara convention center and let me tell you, the place was BUZZing with Key Clubbers! On Friday, we checked into the fancy Hyatt Hotel and changed into our stunning spirit attire for the first spirit session. As we enter the general session area, we were deafened by the loud booming cheers of clubs all over California, Nevada, and Hawaii. After the first day, we went back to the hotel room, still overflowing with spirit, and stayed up till our eyes shut down on us. On the second day, after an amazing breakfast, we visited several workshops in which we were enriched with information about everything Key Club related, listened to the candidate’s awesome speeches in caucusing sessions, and had a chance to listen to our wonderful keynote speaker. On the same day we had a huge dance were we let our wild side loose and danced the night away. On the final day, we started off with another wonderful breakfast and had our last spirit session. Afterwards, we waved goodbye and buzzed back to So Cal!

Being one of our BIGGEST events, March of Dimes is a wonderful event in which walkers walk to raise awareness of premature deaths. By participating in this event, Division 4 North brought along many otters creating a fun-filled atmosphere. There were booths set up around Fashion Island in which walkers received free items and free food! We then ended our 5k walk, which went by really fast, with a DCM. During the DCM we introduced our fabulous executive board, and played some really fun icebreakers along with division 4 West and 4 East. 3

MARCH
WALK LIKE MADD/MAY DCM Walk like MADD is a powerful event in which, victims of drunk drivers, or a friend/family member of the victim, showed up to participate in a walk raising awareness about drunk driving. During the beginning, we had a fun icebreaker session in which members from Division 4 North, along with LQ KIWINS participated. At the start of the walk, Key Club, along with LQ KIWINS were there to pump up the walkers as they started the long walk, and as they finished. After the walk, the members gather around the hotdog grill for a free hotdog and drink to soothe their throat from all the cheering. After the delicious meal, we helped clean up the place by picking up trash and folding tables. Finally after the event was over, we held our DCM on a small grass field nearby.
