A place for hiding secret
THE CHOSEN SITE
Started from the search and analysis of precedents and creation of small projects which are based on very basic architectural conceptual elements: point, line, plane; mass; frame and infill. We were asked to merge all the ideas of these previous projects with the condition of the site, and take our concepts as the guide, to make a design for visitors to occupy.

CONCEPT Where you won’t see any rising sun Down to the river we will run’
‘Oh my God I see how everything is torn in the river deep And I don’t know why I go the way Down by the riverside’
‘When that old river runs pass your eyes To wash off the dirt on the riverside
Go to the water so very near The river will be your eyes and ears’
The concept is a song of Agnes Obel, called Riverside, the lyrics show a very thick mystery. There is someone who goes down by the riverside every day alone, to see how things are torn by the valuable water. It is a baptism, either the journey or the standing in front of the flowing water at the end of the journey. The water is washing off the dirt on the riverside, it is also washing the inner secret of the someone. Here in this place, the magnification of secrets are happening secretly, they can finally come close to an epiphany.

GARDEN BUILDING Studley boathouse
Studio WATER, 2017 Sem 2
SITE SECTION
SUN PATH
CONCEPT After doing the analysis of Tadao Ando’s previous works, the idea of the boathouse design of this studio was totally inspired and influenced, in terms of concept, geometry, the creation of atmosphere and experience. The concept is about introducing the natural landscape conditions including the vegetation and the view of the water to visitors. the form depends on the topography and position of trees here, to create a garden building for showing the views in the best way and letting people have the best experience in Studley Park.

Our final project’s original concept is based on the features and habits of the myna birds. We were inspired by their aggressive, noisy, and the power that emitted by their big amount. The final design is basically a train station. However, it provides a lot of different spaces for surrounding residents to explore, to discover, to utilize, to break their stereotype of this seeming like boring site. At the same time, it is also a potential nest point for myna, fixes the relationship between human and myna by breaking the stereotype of the birds.

The final outcome is a noticeable structure which has a cantilever part heading to the steep slope. Complex spaces were the main manifestations generated by grasshopper, ramps are connecting volumes and leading people in and out. Hollow pipes were inserted as an auditory manifestation of concept.

University high school is an iconic location of the surrounding community. This project contains two separate buildings, the stadium locates near the street is more for public use, while the other building is only for students and staff. The educational building design is for meeting the requirement of the increasing number of students, and the development of the educational model, in terms of programming, and all the designed features.
SITE PLAN
Inspired from the famous story of <Alice’s adventure in wonderland>, Alice was asked many questions about who she is, what did she want to do, the rules in her mind were broken, she was encouraged to find the morals of things, instead of what she was taught, she started to be curious, to doubt things, then she was able to be herself. It was an adventure, but also the process for growing up. Students would experience their own stories, and being encouraged in this wonderland.
