Why do I need a business card anyway?
John Watters PPP 2013
In an increasingly digital world, we handle a great deal of our communications online, so why do we want a business card?
Just because we use the web for contacts, we still need to communicate our contact details and let others know what we do.
Just because we use the web for contacts, we still need to communicate our contact details and what we do.
“Yes, I’m a Graphic Designer and I…”
…work for clients all over the world and projects that cover all sorts of mediums, from print, exhibitions, photography, corporate identities, web concepts and many other things. Can I write down my details for you? Oh, sorry I don’t seem to have a pen or paper? I will go get some and come back to you…’ !
Where did they go?
A MISSED opportunity.
So, what CAN a business card do for you?
It communicates: WHO YOU ARE WHAT YOU DO WHERE YOU ARE REACHABLE And.. …maybe WHY they should contact you.
It can be as complex or as simple as you want.
Think about what you want to put on your card. All the forms of contact you think are relevant.
Your card points the viewer to whatever destination YOU want them to go to.
Twitter. Email. Base phone number. Mobile number. Cargo. Behance. Website.
Preferably NOT Facebook!
WHY do you think?
Look at MOO online, then check out the prices? Print your own? Whatever, they are a necessity and will not cost you a fortune. Keep it all cohesive and consistent throughout your ‘identity’ development.
