HOUSE Music
In the beginning, there was Jack, and Jack had a groove, And from this groove came the groove of all grooves, And while one day viciously throwing down on his box, Jack boldy declared, Let there be HOUSE! and house music was born.........
HOUSE Music
House music is a genre of electronic dance music that originated in Chicago, Illinois in the early 1980s. It was initially popularized in mid-1980s discothèques catering to AfricanAmericans and Latino-Americans in Chicago circa 1984. Early house music was generally dance-based music characterised by repetitive
beats and rhythms centered around drum machines,off-beat hi-hatcymbals and synthesized basslines. While house displayed several characteristics similar to disco music, it was more electronic and minimalistic, and the structured music’s focus around a repetitive rhythm was more important than the song itself. Since the early to mid1990s, house music has been infused in mainstream pop and dance music worldwide.

“ I was driving past a shop in Chicago and I saw a sign that said, ‘We play house music’. I said to my friend, ‘What the hell is house music?’ He said, ‘It’s the kind of music you play at the

Warehouse.”
The term “house music” is widely cited to have originated as a reference to a Chicago nightclub called The Warehouse which existed from 1977 to 1983. The Warehouse helped to break down barries of race and sexial orientaion, bringing people together to dance to music played by the club’s resident DJ
Frankie Knuckles
Indeed, he was more than a DJ; he was an architect of sound, who experimented with sounds and thus added a new dimension to the art of mixing. In fact, he took the raw material of the disco he spun and added pre-programmed drum tracks to create a constant 4/4 tempo. Thanks to him The Warehouse was regarded as the most atmospheric place in Chicago.
Influences
One of the leading DJs at that time was New York born Frankie Knuckles, also called the Godfather of House.
TRAX Records burst on the scene in the early 80’s with a unique soulful sound that earned the brand name “House” because of its warehouse roots. Trax was one of the main labels to influence the house sound and one of the dominant labels producing house music at the time.
HOUSE Music
A string of classic dance hits followed including: “Move Your Body”; “Baby Wants To Ride”; “Real Thing”; “Can U Feel It”; “House Nation”; “This Is Acid” and “U Used To Hold Me.” These songs and a host of others paved the way for the house movement.

HOUSE Music
One of the original innovators in Chicago house, Marshall Jefferson had a hand in several of the music’s most influential early tracks. As a solo act, he recorded 1986’s “Move Your Body” sub-titled and unanimously acclaimed “The House Music Anthem.” The uplifting pianno chords were key to the success of the track as it was the first house track to incorporate pianno. Move Your Body was played all over chicargo, eventually reaching Ibiza and the UK. Jefferson also helped record Phuture’s “Acid Tracks”, the firs acidhouse single. Later, amidst a wave of acid-inspired records, he grew tired of the sound and moved into a more spiritual form of music later termed deep house; along with Larry Heard, he became one of its best producers.
Gotta have House, music, all night long With that House, music, you can’t go wrong Give me that House, music, set me free Lost in House, music,
