Health and Safety Training

Health and Safety Training Caring for children in Family or Group Family child care is a big responsibility. The health and safety of children in care is the highest priority for both the provider and for the New York State Office of Children and Family Services. To ensure that all new providers are prepared for this responsibility, they must complete Health and Safety training approved by the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS). Group Family child care assistants who are regularly in charge of the program when the onsite provider is away may need to complete the 15-hour Health and Safety training. To determine if this pertains to you, please contact your Licensor. The Health and Safety training is provided by JLCP and other trainers around the state. To locate a trainer in your area visit www.ecetp.pdp.albany.edu and click “Find in the top menu.
