Procedure
1. Roast the pumpkin seeds for a short period, about 5 minutes in a frying pan. 2. Grind or pound the roasted pumpkin seeds in a mortar. You can mix with maize flour when pounding for it not to be too oily. 3. Sieve and pound until you collect enough fine powder. 4. Mix the powder with herbal spices i.e. fine onion, garlic, masala, cumin, green pepper etc. 5. Put the mixture in a mortar and pound. Add hot water little by little until the dough becomes somehow oily. 6. Make balls and boil them on low heat for about an hour. The flavour is improved if boiled in earthen pot (mumphika) unlike metaled pots. 7. Lastly add soup into the pot and let it simmer for few minutes. 8. Then the food is now ready. It can be served with nsima, spaghetti or rice.
