It’s a great feeling composing again such thing like this because I believe I express myself and my thoughts more in writing than speaking/talking. I have more confidence in writing I guess (even though most of the time I have really bad sentence construction or grammar error.) Anyways, Finally I had my first styling experience for a Spring/Summer Collection of a Good Friend of Mine, Adrian Sahagun. I believe everyone who is reading this knows him already because he had been a regular topic/post of mine in my Blog, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. and that is what this post all about again. Something New For Adrian and Me. For the First Time, Adrian created a whole Spring/Summer Menswear Collection with Theme/Title “Floral Symmetry” and For me, My First Time to do an actual styling for his collection. They asked me what's the feeling of my first styling opportunity after the shoot, I answered them only with a smile because honestly I really don’t know what to feel and what to say but then I realized when I arrived home, I was really shaking every changes in the look and I believe they noticed it and on the other side of my mind I doubted myself again if I did great after the shoot. Working with the Photographer Sylvester Sy, Hair and Make-Up Artist Martin Alonzo, and Models Cris Lomotan and Eduard Mercado is really amazing because they are so nice and great on their crafts. Hope to work with them again soon. “Working with People you admire and believe is really one best experience because everything that is happening is so Amazing and Awesome!”
New Kid on the Block: Get To Know Part Time Model,
Eduard Mercado Newbie in the modelling industry, Eduard Mercado of The Elite Model Management shares a bit of him, how he started in the modeling industry and more by answering some of my random questions. Let’s get to know him more… Name: Edardo Santos Mercado Jr Years in Modeling: 2 years Personal style: Casual Favorite Shops: Memo, F21, Topman, Zara How did you first become interested in Modelling? It was in a party when somebody approached me and asks to try it. I was like “what?” then I just smiled and answered “I don’t know… maybe”. Then I got all this messages from friends pushing me to do so. It was like over a year before I tried to do a photo shoot with a friend photographer. I just did it for a college event. Then I started liking it… Favorite people you'd worked with in the industry? My Elites Family First thing you do when you wake up? Brush my teeth =) Favorite Day of the week? Saturday.. I feel home Does it matters to you what others say about you? Sometimes Last Movie you've watched? Percy Jackson Sea of Monsters What is the most interesting place you have ever travelled to? Thailand! Love the food Things you cannot live without? Facial wash, Oral hygiene kit, wax,
Most Embarrassing Moment? Doing a topless shoot with a big tummy =) Do you believe in Love at First Sight? No. I’m after the attitude. So, I should know people first. Black or White? White Shoes or Bags? Shoes Blond or Brunette? Brunette Beach or City? Beach Manila or Hong Kong? Never been to Hongkong.. no choice so Manila lol Zara or H&M? Zara
Who inspires you? My family If you could change a decision you have made in the past, what would it be and why? It was when my father was sick and I left for school. I left him with my siblings. It was just a fine day, but I was thinking of leaving from school to attend him. But my friends called up to rehearse a dance for our Christmas dance presentation in Collage. My father died without me at his side. To think, I was always there when he was bed ridden, I fed him, took care of him but not on the last day of his life. I should’ve believed my instinct.
How do you define inspiration? This is what makes me move forward. Not to fear things but to understand those. What does Eduard Mercado do in his Off Days? I usually download and watch movies and cook.
Adrian Sahagun’s
The Inspiration behind Floral Symmetry Spring | Summer 2014 Menswear Collection.
The overall theme of the collection is inspired from a DIY flowerpot made out of old tires and to produce street wear for men in which what is originally the plan . We wanted to play on a print over print styling with some of the clothes. In this collection, we wanted to show that men could wear floral too- but with a twist. Geometric cut-outs and prints were inspired from the tire track from the DIY flowerpot to make the clothes edgy and modern. The collection itself is also rich on colors which were also inspired from the DIY flowerpots. Colors were used to accentuate the collars, cuffs, and other cut-out parts. This is the first time that Adrian worked with a whole Ready to Wear menswear collection so he still wanted to incorporate his aesthetics which is clean, geometric and tailored.
