Same Page provides citizens with the opportunity to read and discuss a single book within their community by an author appearing at the Virginia Festival of the Book. JMRL invites all book lovers in Central Virginia to read Lisa See’s The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane, a moving story about tradition, tea farming, and the enduring connection between mothers and daughters. Join your neighbors in exploring cross-cultural adoption, Chinese ethnicities, and other themes inspired by the book. Meet Lisa See at Northside Library on Wednesday, March 20 at 6pm.

The most important thing you can do to help your child be ready for Kindergarten is reading aloud to them. JMRL’s new 1000 Books Before Kindergarten can help you “Build A Reader.” Stop by any branch to pick up your first sheet for 50 books. After 50 books, turn in your sheet to receive a folder and be officially registered for the program. After 100 books, you’ll receive a tote bag. Make it to 1000 books and you’ll receive a certificate and a free book.
