Rev. Jamie Duncan - Campus Pastor

As I re ect over another ministry year, I’m able to do so with excitement and anticipation. God continues to demonstrate His presence, power and provision. Lives are being impacted in the most wonderful and positive ways. Being the campus pastor of Saint Paul’s Elm St. Campus, located in Petersburg Virginia. I am so blessed to connect with wonderful and amazing people of Petersburg and vicinity. Two words come to mind when thinking of the community “endless possibilities!” We gather as a community of faith each Sunday at 10am. Worship is incredible! Worship has been described as rich, authentic, moving, and intimate. Souls attend from all walks of life seeking an authentic experience with God. From prayer to praise and the preached word, an environment is cultivated for exciting and powerful worship. We have an incredibly dedicated core of serving groups we a ectionately refer to as “Team Worship!” ey’re a dedicated team comprised of Deacons, Ministers, Greeters, Ushers, Parking, Fine Arts, Media, Financial Counters, and Security. Additional ministry areas, include, ImagiNation and SMB, Intercessory Prayer, and Caring Hearts. Our Bible Study experience takes place predominantly at 7pm each ursday evening. Food and fellowship begin at 6pm. Weekly studies are facilitated by the campus pastor who transitions each experience into small group discussions to foster a great sense of connectivity and growth as disciples of Christ.

Small groups are an important and intimate part of how we connect, celebrate, care, cultivate, and contribute. We do this through both serving groups and in nity groups of men, women and marital couples. Each Sunday morning a men’s group and multiple women groups gather on-site from 8:309:30 am. A bi-weekly schedule of small groups also meets every other Tuesday evening. Included are women’s groups, meeting from 6pm to 7:30pm and a men’s group, meeting from 6:30pm to 8pm. en on second Sunday’s immediately a er service the Marriage2 eMax, married couples group come together with a focus on the marital relationship.

Outside the walls of campus, outreach ministry is intentional. Whether through our partnership with Healthy Hearts and Feed-More, Mobile Food Bank. As a host site, we become a food distribution location for the surround Petersburg community. Our community involvement continues through our adoption of JEB Stuart Elementary School. ere are e orts are coordinated through an on-site Community Coordinator to meet needs of underprivileged students and families. And we can’t forget the importance of celebration and fellowship within the Petersburg community. An annual event which we called “Summer in the Street!” Our vision by design was to bring all facets of the community together, promoting unity, faith, family, and fellowship. Being part this community, we must continue to show how much we authentically care! As the campus pastor, my heart is truly blessed to see people reaching for the next level in all aspects of their lives, especially as disciples of Christ. I have labored through prayer, counsel, and even tears with those who were in the struggle of their lives. I have also celebrated and shouted with others, in victory and blessings of a miraculous move of God! But whether it’s a season of setbacks or celebration. ere remain an enduring hope, trust and dependence in Almighty God. erefore, I can’t help but remain hopeful in the work, as disciples of Jesus, we’ve been called to perform! e Bible says it best, “But it is just as the Scriptures say, “What God has planned for people who love him is more than eyes have seen or ears have heard. It has never even entered our minds!”—1 Corinthians 2: 9, Contemporary English Version (CEV). Rev. Jamie Duncan, Campus Pastor, Saint Paul’s Petersburg, Elm St. Campus
