BACK TO SCHOOL BLAST 2016

Collected supplies, stu ed the bus, and distributed over 900 backpacks. Partnered with 6 schools to provide items they requested. Back to School Blast was held at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts where the children and youth visited the Kehinde Wiley and Gordon Parks exhibits, and an educational scavenger hunt. en to the Science Museum of VA which included lunch, and the SPEED and BOOST exhibits. Hosted all 8 RVA mayoral candidates in a forum at our Belt campus. 167 people attended.

Provide food assistance to people in the community in need of food. September - October 2016 _________________________________

BABY HAT DRIVE

Partnered with From the Heart organization to collect hand made (crochet, knit or loom) baby hats for local hospitals for new born babies. Collected 126 hats, 2 pair of booties and 1 blanket. Led by Katera Riddick. October 22, 2016 _________________________________

SILENCE COVERS UP THE VIOLENCE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SYMPOSIUM

154 attended. Included Workshops, vendors, Christy Sims keynote speaker, and lunch. Children’s programming and transportation was provided to teen mothers who attended.

COMMONWEALTH CATHOLIC CHARITIES ANNUAL CHRISTMAS AROUND THE WORLD CELEBRATION

SPBC has provided dinner for the Commonwealth Catholic Charities (CCC) Annual Christmas Around the World Celebration for 10 years. Over 150 people attended the celebration for the CCC Foster Care program for the foster children, foster families, independent living youth, volunteers, group home sta and CCC sta .

Hosted a Christmas celebration for children whose parents are incarcerated in partnership with the Richmond City Justice Center’s REAL program. 167 attended. Partnered with Toys for Tots to distribute toys to over 1,200 children in the community at all 3 campuses.

RICHMOND REGIONAL REENTRY COUNCIL

Newly formed subcommittee of the Richmond Regional Reentry Council to address Reentry issues and needs in Richmond, Henrico, Hanover and Chester eld. SPBC hosted the inaugural meeting attended by about 40 people. e team consist of DOJ, SPBC, VA Center for Restorative Justice, Goodwill, the Daily Planet, Henrico Probation O ce, and other organizations.

Can We Talk? Hosted dialogue addressing issues in the community in partnership with Radio One, Community Clovia, Saint Paul’s Baptist Church, and other community organizations at the Belt campus. Approximately 250 people attended.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH CELEBRATION

Celebrated our History, Heritage and Empowering moments the entire

month with the SPBC BHM Art & Empowerment Gallery that featured local artists, poets, sculptors, coloring book artists, quilting, authors, photographers, potters, and a Black History Facts Wall of pictures and paintings. Julia Williams Byrd from NASA spoke with the youth about “Hidden Figures” and a career in the STEM eld. Had the Exhibit “African American Trailblazers” on loan from the RVA Black History Museum at Belt. Shared African American children’s books, empowering information on Health, self care and nances.

RPS TO BOWTIE HIDDEN FIGURES VIEWING AND ESSAY CONTEST

SPBC partnered with Johnson Inc. and hosted 1500 RPS students and sta from all 9 Richmond Public High Schools for a viewing of the movie “Hidden Figures”. e Saint Paul’s Community Foundation then hosted an essay contest in each of the schools about the movie and local African American heroes.

HANDBAG AND JEWELRY COLLECTION FOR HOMELESS

Partnered with Change the World RVA a non-pro t that supports high school and college students in Richmond experiencing homelessness. YOU DONATED: 2,083 items: (handbags, necklaces, earrings, bracelets, other jewelry items, sunglasses, scarves, and other accessories). Proceeds at the annual bazaar was over $13,000.00 April 8-15, 2017 _________________________________

CARITAS

Blessed 29 men who are currently experiencing homelessness. Approximately 63 people volunteered (setup, breakdown, laundry, dinner, fellowship, overnight, assessments, shopped, prayed, Culinary, Transportation, etc.), ank you to Deacon Ben Davis and Kut Kings Barbershop for the haircuts.

RISC NEHEMIAH ACTION

An assembly of about 900 people to bring about a greater degree of justice and equality. Addressed elementary reading in Richmond Public Schools & Eastern Henrico County Public Schools, the impacts of childhood trauma in Chester eld County, recruiting, hiring initiatives for healthcare careers at regional hospitals, and investment in a ordable housing for the City of Richmond.

DIAPER DRIVE

A total of 5,146 diapers and 2,320 wipes were donated. Because of your generosity some parents will not have to choose between food, daycare or diapers. Less babies will have diaper rashes, and other infections caused by reusing diapers. Donated to the Central VA Diaper Bank and Mommies, Bellies, Babies and Daddies program. Cradle to Prison Pipeline small group partners with Second Presbyterian Church to provide goodie bags to family members traveling to visit their loved ones incarcerated.
