Creative Journal Year 1 Term 1 Joelle Chauvet
Macro trend forecasting teamwork project Group : Joelle Chauvet ; Ash Hunter. As a team, the aim was to come up with athrough futureresearch facing macro trend forecast and case studies. The recurring themes we found in the cases that caught our attention were often overlooked categories of the population finall y being givena voice and growing in power and recognition. So we decided we would base our trend on just that. We decided on the name "Not just a pretty face" in reference to a sex or a generation too often considered fragile, or decorative, actuall y taking power and proving that there's more to them than that. T wo categories of the population that have had their voices muted or di s mi s sed in very di f ferent ways are women and the new generations, Gen Z and Millenial s . However, growing movements are putting them on the front of the scene in domains as varied as arts, fashion, politics and technology. And 2018 has been a key year in their growth. With thi s presentation we aimed to demonstrate through a selection of case studies and examples from a wide range of topics going from politics to art, how said growth ibigger s just and a start and thi s trend i s going to get more global in the years to come.

Being quite interested in femini s t and equality movements in my everyday li f e, it came as no surpri s e that a lot of the articles i read and case studies that caught my attention featured powerful women, what I was less expecting i s the overall quantity of material concerning the new generations, millenial s and Gen Z. Seeing of how recurring those two social categories were in my research, i decided to make them my concepts. An interesting part of thi s project i s the fact that we are working on subject that we chose, so are bound to enjoy, which does make research a lot more fun.
I think the hardest part was actuall y making the slides, because I ended up with way more material than i could reali s ticall y fit in 5 slides, and it was tough chosing what to include and what to leave out. The feedback I got I should of paid more attention to i s including imagery in my slides. I was quite happy with the overall design but it's true that it was onl y colour and writting, when particularl y for a macro trend forecasting project I should of included colour palettes and pictures.
Promotional Film Group Task We've used T om and Dexter's "interactive progression" macro trend for inspiration towards the video. We shot the videowith lots of close up cli p s to almost make it feel that you're interacting with the subjects. The "progression" aspect of the macro trend has influenced the video through the use of neon colours, as progression references to the future. The brand that we have select ed i s called PALACE, which i s a UK streetwear/ skateboarding brand. They're well knoww for using static/glitch art withinfortheir videos. They often use UK arti s ts music, which we also done. Palace logo

Ttakes est shots & out We tried to film skateboarding shots on campusbut they were too dark, into the places flat enough skateboard there was not as much light as we'd hoped for. We liked the idea of a scene intingwhich we would be geton the tube as to go to the gig, but the lighting and colours didnt work that well with the rest of the sequence. We shot an "after gig" scene on my terrasse but when we had to choose which footage to use and which not to, we decided it did not bring that much to the story line or film as a whole.
For my fashion show invitation i chose designer Erdem's SS 2019 collection. While browsing through collections to chose one, not onl y did Moralioglu's victorian like, modern but wi s t f ul about eras long gone designs catch my attention, the story around the collection confirmed it as my choice. Indeed, Erdem unearthed an old Victorian court case involving two young ladies, who were in fact charged for being cross dressers. The designer liked the idea of people in a very conservative time, dressing to be who they were. Hi s collection works around imagining what Stellabeand Fanny, the two girl s from the case, would like i f they lived today, which comes out through aLong mixdresses, of victorian era style and modern touches. puffy sleeves, double breasted tailoring, flower patterns, but al s o sheer fabric, lace..
Idea process T o create my invitation, I reall y wanted to soak up all the detail s from the collection as much asandfrom it's story, so that while remaining sleek elegant one would know at a glance what show the invitation was for. The story i tried toatrepresent by giving it a design that would be the same time classical and timeless and al s o modern, which i s why i chose to keep a basic rectangle 2D format to it, but to print it on transparent plastic paper. The main fabrics and prints from the collection appear on it, the sheer through the fact it i s see through, and prints through the flowers on it. I al s o decided to use the main colours appearing in the collection. Finallhand y, thewritting. chosen font is an imitation of a victorian
Crit session feedback The crit session was reall y interesting. It was our first of the year so we didn't reall y know what to expect but all came out with good ideas and pointers to make our projects better. The feedback Iandgotsleek on myandinvitation was that the design was nice the idea of making it using transparent plastic as a base was a reall y good one, but Iinstead shouldgoavoid using hand writing like I did and for a good hand written effect font and print it out.
