Site Analysis A big emphasis is on site analysis of the local area. New residents have to overcome steep terrain to access hospitals, grocery stores, and bus stops all within 20 minutes walking distance. The views and experiences of walking around the area is lovely. Residents can enjoy magniicent views on San Luis Obispo’s hills, the warm sun, and cool breezes coming from the north east. 7

After examining how spaces best mix together, and analyzing schematic designs, Lepidoptera is a supportive campus that offers comfort and personal growth to its residents. Many key elements provide the opportunity for social interaction, physical exercise, self-relection, relaxation, and more. Residents are given everything needed for healthier living. Here they can go beyond the horizon and open doors to a new life, and perspective on the world. 11

The completion of a grading plan caused multiple changes further into the process. Crucial spaces for gatherings and interactive activities are maintained. The biggest change would be the ramp and intricate planter bed system in the north of the wellness center, and the sensory garden in the west. Overall, the goal and concept of Lepidoptera is still there. Now, all areas can be reached at a safe and comfortable grade. Grading this whole site was a challenge because of the steep topography given, but it was an excellent learning experience. 15

Site Analysis Although there are plenty of places to go shopping and sightseeing in San Pedro, a lot of the activities are centered on their main streets, crime lingers around the corner. The nicer places with low crime rates are closer to parks at the waterfront. The views are equally as interesting, but it is not as accessible as downtown. More transit is needed to extend to the edge – giving life to more businesses surrounded by what gives us life, water.
