Five Steps for Applying Value Statements

Idoinspire Jody Urquhart

Five Steps for Applying Value Statements Employees naturally take on the values they believe and are engaged in. Instead of forcing values and corporate philosophies on them, get employees to buy in by involving them. For this we have followed the five steps for applying value statements: 1. Make sure employees understand why the values are important to different departments, the company as a whole, suppliers, customers, and co-workers. 2. Get employee input. What do the values mean to them, why are they important and what do they really believe in? 3. Clearly define your terms. What is teamwork? Who comprises the team? Am I in a team with the president of the company, although I have never met that person? Which activities require teamwork and what would true teamwork look like? If you want to espouse a value, then explain what it is and show a clear example of it in action. 4. Create a task force to help implement, recognize and communicate values to others. The task force would be made up of the employees who really believe in the values to begin with. Policies should support values and purpose statements, not contradict or ignore them. Never ask an employee to model something that is contradicted in some way by a policy or rule.

In spite of all these steps if we still have a problem in implementing the value statements, then we can appoint inspirational speakers which will inspire your employees to follow value statements.
