BN-800 Reactor. Energy of the Future Russia Published on Sep 27, 2014 The BN-800 reactor is a sodium-cooled fast breeder reactor, built at the Beloyarsk Nuclear Power Station, in Zarechny, Sverdlovsk Oblast, Russia. Designed to generate electrical power of 880 MW in total, the plant is the final step to the commercial plutonium cycle breeder. It is planned to start producing electricity in October, 2014. By now the reactor is started at minimal controlled power to run diagnostics. See video about the BN-800 Reactor. Open link below: Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCgXcfGv5J8 This is the kind of nuclear power technology that the United States developed starting in the 1950s and continued developing through 1994 when President Clinton brought it to a full stop based on the argument that it breeds plutonium. Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, Frank von Hippel, John Holdren, and Thomas Cochran have worked since the 1970s to stop fast reactor technology, saying that if the United States doesn’t reprocess nuclear fuel, the rest of the world will follow. Russia, China and other leading countries clearly understand that breeder reactor nuclear power is the main source of generating electrical energy, heat for industry and cities, desalinization of ocean water, etc. They are doing the exact opposite of what Presidents Clinton and Carter have committed the United States to for our energy future. Rarely, if ever, has a country been deprived of such tremendous energy resources from within as the United States in the last forty years. Russia and China are wisely pursuing breeder reactor technology to strengthen their economies, improve the environment and sell this technology to the world. Congratulations to those who work for a better world through plentiful, clean, affordable, energy that can last for thousands of years. Charles Till and Yoon Chang have provided thorough, understandable documentation about the American top breeder reactor program, the Integral Fast Reactor, IFR. Everyone from high school students, their parents to leaders in industry and government around the world should read it. Their book, “Plentiful Energy, “is available at many book sellers and in electronic form on this website. Every country who wants plentiful energy for the long term should read this book and follow the countries that are

using breeder reactor technology. See also the report by Go Nuclear Advocate, Peyton Williams on the Integral Fast Reactor. Search for Peyton Williams. If a first year, brilliant college student can spend a summer studying the IFR and writing his report, college students and leaders in industry and government around the world should be able to learn about breeder reactor nuclear power also. We maintain that students from eighth grade on up to educated retired people can read the book by Charles Till and Yoon Chang and learn a lot. Just chose the depth to which you read the book. There is very little other choice for the long term. This includes uranium breeder reactor and thorium sub-breeder reactor technologies for the long term – thousands of years. Congratulations to Russian, Chinese and other scientists and engineers for pursuing advanced nuclear power technologies to make a better world. Maybe the United States will follow your example and free itself from the forces that are against advanced technology nuclear power.
