Introduction, How to use this Yearbook
The International Baccalaureate (IB) offers high quality programmes of international education to a worldwide community of schools, aiming to develop internationally minded people who, recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the plant, help to create a better, more peaceful world.
The IB works alongside state and privately funded schools around the world that share the commitment to international education, to deliver these programmes.
Schools that have achieved the high standards required for authorization to offer one or more of the IB programmes are known as ‘IB World Schools’. As of November 2022, there were 1,186 schools with 1,355 programmes in candidate status (515 PYP, 451 MYP, 292 DP, 89 CP).
The IB World Schools Yearbook is the official guide to schools authorized to offer the Primary Years Programme, the Middle Years Programme, the Diploma Programme and the Career-related Programme. It tells you where the IB World Schools are situated and what they offer, and provides up-to-date information about IB programmes and the IB organization.
This is an ideal reference for school administration, parents and education ministries worldwide as it: • provides a comprehensive reference of IB World Schools for quick and easy access • raises the profile of IB World Schools within their local community and beyond • provides comprehensive information about IB programmes and the IB.
How to use this yearbook
The Yearbook has been designed to be as easy as possible to use and has been divided into five sections. 1. General information about the IB and its programmes. 2. Comprehensive information about IB World Schools presented in alphabetical order by school name, colour coded according to IB geographical region. In this section, schools have been given
the opportunity to highlight their best qualities by creating an enhanced profile for their school. 3. Directory information about every IB World
School that offers one or more of the IB programmes as of November 2022. The directory is ordered by IB region and contains general and contact information about each school. Information about the three IB regions is also given in this section. (Those schools that have elected to purchase a profile in the Yearbook will appear in capital letters in the directory.) 4. Appendices containing information and lists relevant to the IB. These include addresses of IB offices, location of IB World Schools,
Diploma Programme subjects offered (in 2023),
IB Associations around the world, university acknowledgement of the Diploma Programme and
IB scholarships. 5. Index of all schools listed geographically and alphabetically by name.
Are you looking for a specific IB World School?
If you know the name of the school but are unsure of its location, turn to the index on p. 653 where you will find an alphabetic listing of all IB World Schools.
Are you looking for an IB World School in a specific country?
Look first in the directory section; this will give you the basic information about all the schools in each region. More detailed information can be found in the profiles section for those schools marked with capitalized letters.
The IB website, ibo.org, also contains the most up-todate information on IB World Schools. A school search option is available from every page on the site for people wanting to find an IB World School.
