Aluminum starts off as either new or recycled metal, which is melted down into plate and bar stock.

Machine tools use plate and bar stock as the basis for creating metal parts. As a by-product of the machining process, metal chips are created and removed from the machine tool to be recycled.

The Command briquetter is designed to process scrap metal chips produced during the machining process. As a result, chips will be compacted, reducing their total volume by up to 9:1 and trapped coolant and oil will be reclaimed.

Any coolant and oil recovered during the briquetting process can be recycled back into the machining process. Briquettes produced will then be transported to the recyclers, and will command a significantly higher price than loose chips.

Prices for scrap metal and briquettes will vary between each tier of recycler, due to their position within the recycling chain.

Recyclers will on sell the briquettes to a smelting foundry to be remelted, thus repeating the briquetting process.
