Climate Changed.

24-7prayer is a radical prayer movement that has swept around the world and has given people a new passion to pray like they have never prayed before. The dream behind 24-7 prayer is to turn the tide of youth culture back to Jesus. To see lives transformed by Christ centred, creative, mission minded prayer. We need Him more than ever in these days! Its time to pray like it all depends on God and live like it all depends on us. 247prayer is not for experts. It's for those who find prayer a struggle. Let God capture your imagination. Discover new ways to engage with God through Interactive prayer stations, creative spaces and still places. Drop in during the day or sign up to take an hour’s shift during the night. It’s your choice. Come and join the wildest, most extreme, most exciting prayer meeting you have ever seen. This Summer Madness, we dare you to be alone with God!

As leaders you have already decided that SB is not an option. You have already responded to the call to SU and be counted; to partner with God in His mission to redeem the planet. The CONNECT venue offers leaders space to discover what that might look like for you and to be encouraged by others who have found what works in our context. The venue has been completely remodelled by HFH and will have live acoustic music from local artists each evening as well as the now familiar café style hospitality in the ‘living’ room providing opportunities for leaders to meet up with friends or just chill out. Each afternoon will begin with inspiring teaching about a key aspect of what it means to partner with God followed by an opportunity to hear stories of what that looks like in a range of different contexts when local leaders share their experiences, invite comments and respond to your questions. CIYD and Youth Link are delighted to serve you through CONNECT and to be able to share with Exodus; Streetreach; 24-7; Romance Academy; Love for Life; PAIS; MORE; and Habitat for Humanity in the delivery of our programme.

Sat 30 june |session1 12.30 pm-3.30 pm (SIT DOWN) ‘Making time to hear God’ Speaker: Dorothy McVeigh Dorothy McVeigh not only has a passion for young people but lives, and teaches out of that place of taking time to SIT DOWN at the feet of Jesus. She will help us to the same and teach us how to encourage our young people to make time for Jesus. Seminar info: We all need to take time to sit and listen to God, and it’s as important to teach our young people how to do the same. Otherwise we might be all enthusiastic and stand up without knowing who we’re following or what He wants is to do 4 pm-5 pm SIT DOWN – Making time for God on the streets of Belfast, in a local church, and through 24-7. Workshop info: We all have a story. Come and hear the stories behind the stories of people who work with young people across Ireland and have seen situations transformed through learning how to ‘sit with God. Discover the value of ‘hearing God’ as a vital part of youth work, vision, planning, programme implementation and moving forward.

Sun 01 july |session 2 2.30 pm-3.30 pm (STAND UP) ‘Being counted as a Christ follower’ Speaker: Graeme Thompson Graeme is someone who has spent a lifetime seeking to grow in Christlikeness and helping others (especially youth leaders and young people) to do the same. He works for the Youth and Children’s Board of the PCI as Youth Development Officer for Northern Ireland. Seminar info: Living out what you say you believe is a challenge. How do the 2 arrive at the same place? Do they collide in and out of each other or naturally organically grow. As youth leaders we have a responsibility to disciple, mentor and apprentice those in our care. How do we genuinely aid young people in their Christian lifestyle? 4 pm-5 pm STAND UP – examples of discipleship from a church in Lisburn and schools across the land Workshop info: Hear youth workers response to the issue of sex and young people. Learn how the journey began and where this has taken 1 local youth group. Be inspired how by following Gods lead, reaching out to others for support and taking the step of faith ‘Love for Life’ are transforming the lives of young people through practical programmes.

Mon 02 July | session 3 2.30 pm-3.30pm (WALK ON) ‘What does it look like for a disciple to WALK ON with mission at their core?’ Speaker: Jose Cummings Jose has been involved in the walking out faith on the Ormeau Road and with Exodus. Most recently he has been developing ‘the 360 adventure’ a discipleship resource for churches with mission at its heart. Seminar info: Mission is at the core of the Christian Faith. God doesn’t just want us to stand up and make a commitment to Him, He wants our commitment to the world as well. Jose will help us to capture God’s heart for mission in the local Church and how we enable young people to WALK ON with God in mission. 4 pm-5 pm WALK ON - local and global examples of what ‘walking on’ can look like from the streets of Ballynahinch to homes in Bolivia. Workshop info: Where can young people serve? How do we create a place for them explore ‘mission’? Allowing young people this opportunity to serve could be the start of a big story for them and the lives of others. Come and explore what opportunities and resources are out there for you as someone working with groups of young people.

PRAYER MINISTRY

Come on in, everyone’s welcome… but not everyone’s “equal”

@ Summer Madness What is Prayer Ministry? Prayer Ministry is a fancy-sounding title for something which is basic second-nature for Christians: talking to God. At Summer Madness this year there night be times when you want to ask God for something, or offer Him something, or make a promise or a commitment or just talk to Him - and the Prayer Ministry Team are there to help you do that. There’s nothing hyped or weird or strange about it…the team are just there to pray, to encourage you and to cooperate with what God is doing in your life.

www.summermadness.co.uk

Who goes for Prayer Ministry? Everyone. That’s the simple answer – every single Summer Madness camper, visitor, gatecrasher and hanger-on is welcome for prayer ministry. Of course that’s not always the way it works out in practice – sometimes we can worry that only super-spiritual people, or people with deep and meaningful prayer requests, go forward for ministry. That’s not true. Anything – big or small, simple or complicated, earthshattering or not – God wants to hear from us about everything. And the Prayer Ministry team would love to be a part of that prayer.

Who are the Prayer Ministry Team? The PMT are normal human beings. They aren’t spiritual superheroes, awesome in their holy power, surrounded by a little halo of peace and serenity. They are all committed Christians who know from experience that god answers prayer and changes lives, and who are excited to see that happen for

as many people as possible during SM this year. They’ve also been carefully selected and trained so that you can talk to them in complete confidence and confidentiality. They won’t preach at you, tell you what to do or do anything weird. They’ll simply ask for your name and a short description of what you’d like to pray about and then they’ll prayer. So go talk to a PMT member – they’re really nice!

How can I find the Prayer Ministry Team? The PMT will be involved at all the worship events in the King’s Hall; you’ll be able to identify them by a photo ID card around their necks. Members of the team can also be found throughout the day at the Prayer Ministry room in the ‘Green Room’ in the Octogon/Kings Hall Conference Centre and you’re really welcome to call in at any time for prayer or chat.

Confidentiality? Any communication during Prayer Ministry is confidential, except where issues of abuse, suspected abuse or other criminal activity are raised. In such situations, Summer Madness has an obligation (and in the case of certain criminal offence, may have an obligation) to pass on such details to the relevant statutory authorities including social services of the PSNI.

If you’re lucky, you’ll be given a pass for the exclusive VIP area where you’ll enjoy pampering and luxuries like sumptuous sofas, waiter service, a free cocktail, mobile phone charging facility. Otherwise, you’ll have to make do with the plastic chairs and wooden boxes of the remaining 2/3 of the café. Yes, it’s unjust, but that’s the way the world is. While you’re here, find out about what you can do about it. Tasty treats, caffeine overloads and some of the hottest acts on the local music scene will be available for all. Hot Seat Interviews (Saturday-Monday, 5-6pm) Some Summer Madness superstar speakers will be in the hot-seat for a Tearfund-flavoured grilling!

Music @ the Café (10pm – 12pm) Friday: It’s Jazztastic! Come along, get together with friends old and new, grab a cocktail and enjoy the sparkling, relaxed atmosphere created by The Jazz Committee with music that everyone loves. Saturday: Rock ‘n’ Roll! Unleash your inner rockstar and pit your pop-rock talents against the mighty PS2 with rounds including Sing Star, Guitar Hero and Dance Mats. Sign up individually or with a group of friends. Why not nominate your youth leader to do a round for you?! Sunday: Chill-Out Session If you’re looking for some chill-out tunes to round off a busy Sunday, this is the place to be! Come along for some quality local musical talent in the form of fast-rising local star, Laura Stevenson, and ‘Queen Alexandra and the Lowly Knights Orchestra’.

Monday: Cheesy Pop Party! What better way to spend the first Monday night of the summer holidays than bopping to the cheesiest beats in town?! Local DJs will get you into the groove for a night of cheesy music and moves!

Other Stuff… Freedom Songs Sunday 1.30-2.30pm This is a chance for you to come and warm your vocal chords by learning some spirituals written by AfricanAmerican slaves in the 17th century, and hear a bit about what they mean. Calling all Youth Leaders Sunday 8.30–9.30am Tearfund will be hosting a breakfast especially for youth leaders in the Christian Aid venue. Grab some toast and hear about how you can make issues of God’s heart for the poor an essential part of your young people’s discipleship. Tearfund Seminar Monday 9.30-10.30am Come along and hear how you can be part of a miracle.

Waiting on the Crumbs from your Table ‘Where you live should not decide whether you live or whether you die.’ (Bono) But for now, it does. As we keep feasting, there are people all over the world who have no choice but to wait for the crumbs from our table. In Europe we spend £5.6 billion on ice-cream every year. Yet it would cost just £5.1 billion to provide the whole developing world with clean water. This is a justice issue. But you can do something about it. You can help to change the world. Come along and find out how you can be part of a miracle and help transform not only the lives of the poor, but also your own.

Earlier with Jools: Bible study Balmoral What better way to start the day than a short Bible meditation with Jools Hamilton. Always sharp, insightful, to the point; not to mention pretty funny (as long as he has his morning coffee!), this start to to the day will encompass reflection and chat - as well as a possibility of one or two shouts of 'heretic!' just for fun. Wash it all down with a mug of coffee & a croissant, while you let the Holy Spirit open your eyes to this Norn Iron 'wordfor today!'

Desmond Maxwell Alexander Desmond Maxwell will give us three different opportunities to grasp the broad story of the Bible and how we can apply the Word of God to our own situations and lives. Let’s go cosmic – exploring the ultimate text message. Let’s try to get the big picture of what is going on in the Bible.

Around the Kings Hall there are a few areas dedicated to helping you think and respond to what God is saying to you at Summer Madness. They aren’t just for the end of worship each night, please use them whenever you want. They are not the only way of responding to what’s been said or how God has been talking to you, but sometimes symbols can help you make sense of things and help you to respond to what it is you’ve heard. Below is a mini-description of each area, please check them out, they aren’t scary and definitely don’t bite but absolutely worth checking out and seeing what you think;

Light – Light is an amazing thing, no matter how dark a place may seem as soon as you light a candle everyone can see it and people will gather round it. Lighting a candle can symbolise many things and is a great way to physically represent your prayers to God and state your intentions to be that light for God in dark places. World – Sometimes we can get very wrapped up in our own lives and forget about the real world out there. As Christians we’re called to mission, not just for a few days each year but in

everything we do. So here’s a chance to spend some time reading about Christians throughout the world and locally and what they’re up to and pray for them as they seek to bring the Gospel to people around them. The Wall – The Wall is your chance to express your experiences at this year’s event. Whether it’s a picture of something that means a lot to your faith, a story about what God has been saying to you at the event or a prayer you want to share with everyone at the event then simply grab one of the pens and put it on

the Wall whenever you want. Water – Jesus is the water of life and through his sacrifice all our sins are forgiven. But as human beings we mess up a lot and often find it hard to forgive ourselves. So we always need to come to God and say sorry for some of the things we’ve done. There are lots of ways to do this but we’ve created a slightly different space for you to do this during mainstage. Feel free to use it anytime!

We have opportunities for just two people to join the Summer Madness staff team throughout the year. The work is varied and includes some project management, office management, an attachment with a local church youth group, liaison with and support to SM teams and volunteers and help with are web based services!

Reedstar is a new generation of Christian band emerging from Northern Ireland. Fuelled with their passion to spread the fame of Jesus Christ throughout the world these guys have captured a truly awesome sound and are totally unique in their own right.

Cutting through the swathes of other budding singer-songwriters with a rare pathos and ability to capture the little victories and defeats that punctuate our lives, McNair's music exudes a quiet confidence that sneaks its way into your head. His songs like old friends that slip an arm around your shoulder just when you need it most.

Inspired by the likes of Third Day, Delirious and David Crowder these guys have Rock ‘n Roll in their blood! Come and experience Reedstar as they raise up the anthem of a new generation!

Juliet Turner is one of Ireland’s best-known singer/songwriters. Renowned for her live performances and laid-back attitude Juliet is a quiet, relaxed performer with a wicked sense of humour. Her voice is instantly recognizable and her between song anecdotes are amusing, eccentric and off-the-cuff. Prepare to be drawn in and bowled over. In the last few years Juliet has opened for such greats as Bob Dylan, U2 and Bryan Adams and in February 2005 she was awarded the Meteor Music Award for best Irish female performer. Juliet makes a welcome return to Summer Madness, as we celebrate the festival’s 21st Birthday!

A familiar face to anyone who has been around the Cavern in recent years Foy Vance makes a highly anticipated return to this year’s Summer Madness. Born in Bangor, N.I, Foy was taken by his preacherman father to the US at the age of one, where Vance senior preached the length and breadth of the country with his family in tow. In the Black churches of the South, young Foy soaked up the deep south spirit which infects his music. A powerful performer, described by the Sunday Times as “an unbelievable voice…in the premier league of British songwriters” Foy’s star is definitely on the rise. The past year has seen two of his songs featured on the Grey’s Anatomy sountrack and his debut album is due for release in July.

Iain Archer makes a welcome appearance at Summer Madness 2007 after a long time away from the festival! A singer/songwriter, originally from Bangor, Iain was a familiar face at Summer Madness during the Castle Archdale and Gosford days – appearing in his own right and with several local bands. Recent years have seen Iain’s solo career blossom and he is now firmly established as one of the UK’s most engaging performers. 2004 saw the realease of his critically acclaimed album Flood The Tanks. In 2005 he picked up an Ivor Novello Award as part of the songwriting team behind Snow Patrol's Final Straw album and ‘Canal Song’ from Iain's latest album, Magnetic North, recently featured on Grey's Anatomy.

Over the past 5 years the Avalon Acoustic Afternoons competition has brought us some of the most memorable moments in the festival’s recent history. For one night only we are bringing back some of the people who have made the competition the incredible success that it’s been… Intimate performances from Andy Briggs, Dave Clements, Micah Vincent and Laura-Jayne Hunter make up a unique evening that brings the down the curtain on Summer Madness 2007 in spectacular style.

More gives us space to go deeper and continue to connect with God in worship. More will bring the best of Acoustic, Alternative and Inclusive worship styles to the late night SM scene. We have different lead worshippers every evening, bringing a whole range of different styles, but all with one purpose: to seek God. But do you known what? We thought it would be a shame if anybody turned up for anything other than to spend a bit of time worshipping........so we're not going to tell you who's on each night. You'll just have to turn up! But expect everything from passionate acoustic guitar players, to taize reflections, and mind blowing visuals.

The venue will be open each evening of the festival from 10pm until 12pm, leaving plenty of space to praise and pray. During the 'on the streets' part of the festival there will be opportunity to engage with, and pray about what God is showing us each day. You can find us in the sale ring.
