LOST WRISTBANDS If you lose your wristband the cost of a replacement is £5.00. These will only be replaced if verified by your leader (in person) and if ID is presented. Crossing into any area demarcated by red and white tape is forbidden (this will constitute trespassing, punishable by law). Summer Madness wishes to make it clear that it does not favour sectarian propaganda or proselytizing within the Christian fellowship and anyone involved in these practices will be escorted off-site. This means that any group or individual which uses the SM Festival and its facilities for such purposes does so against the spirit of the event and could face a ban from future events. The organisers reserve the right to cancel any booking (be it that of any individual or group) that they deem necessary and escort all concerned parties off the premises if these ground rules are not observed.

DATING DILEMMAS Rachel Gardner | Octagon

ENJOYING THE BIBLE Krish Kandiah | Octagon

People didn’t go out with each other in Bible times so what does it say about falling in love in the 21st century? ‘How far is too far‘? How can we choose a Godly approach to all aspects of our relationships, married or not? WHAT DID THE OLD TESTAMENT EVER DO FOR ME?! William Ford | Abercorn

How does the Bible help you through everything life throws at you? Krish brings some vital directions to help equip you to read the Bible better for the rest of your life.

So why should we bother with the Old now that we have the New - and surely the picture of God in the ‘Torah’ is a bit more primitive than what we encounter in Jesus? What does the Old Testament have to teach us about Christianity in the 21st century?

Do you believe in a place where you are accepted, valued and loved? Is this place called Church? Within a constantly changing culture, how does the Church continue to make itself relevant without having to dilute the core message?

THE BIG BITE Jason Gardner | CIYD Did Jesus have set goals with the disciples? Did he have specific things that he wanted to teach them in specific ways? What can we apply from his style of teaching to the way we teach young people?

CHURCH IS FOR LOSERS Jasper Rutherland, Stuart Moles, Paddy McGlinchy, Scott Evans, Peter McDowell | CIYD

MAN MADE: BEING A MAN #1 Dave Cavan | Abercorn If you are in Christian circles, it won’t be long until you hear catchphrases like ‘he’s a real Man of God’. If that’s being said about you, great. What does that mean the rest of us? We’ll look at the ‘Men of God’ in the Bible for more info.

18:00

15:30 DANGEROUS PEOPLE: TURNING VISION INTO REALITY Simon Guillebaud | Octagon Take a look at how to become a dreamer of the day (not a day-dreamer), someone who acts out their dreams with open eyes to make them happen. It will be a challenging hour packed with testimony, quotes, and practical pointers to turn vision to reality and change the world. INSPIRED OR WHAT?! Bishop Harold Miller | Abercorn So what do we mean when we say the Bible is the ‘Inspired’ Word of God? Is it literally true (and accurate) in every sense and on every occasion? If so, why do Christians disagree so much about what it all. WHEN YOUTH MINISTRY IS NOT ENOUGH David Brown & Helen Warnock | CIYD At times the Church can feel like it is far removed from young people and modern culture. This workshop will allow an open and honest conversation about how we bridge the gap. He will be joining us via skype to help us discover if science and religion are at all compatible. STORY 4 ALL - THE ‘WORD ON THE STREET’ #1 Bryan Thompson | Sale Ring The ‘inside story’ that is changing the face of outreach ministry on the planet! Come along to investigate how movies can be used to challenge, encourage and inspire us. ‘CAN’T STOP, CAN’T COPE?’ Emma & Glen Scrivener | Abercorn Why can’t we stop when we know we should? What does an addict look like? Is it a stereotypical junkie or is it a problem for Christians too? From Facebook to Xbox, eating disorders to pornography, we all struggle with things we wish we could stop. Does Jesus have a solution? THE GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD Adrian McCartney | Sale Ring Is the Bible a collection of random but associated stories and pieces of history and poetry? Adrian will explore some of the themes that run throughout the Bible and, hopefully, give you an overview that you can use for the rest of your life.

Ask someone on the street what they think of ‘Christians’ and this word crops up time and again. So, do we get a bad press or is there something inherently offensive in the Christian message? How is it that truth and grace seem so hard to blend together? LOSING YOUR RELIGION Andy Frost | Abercorn Recent statistics show that a high percentage of teenage believers abandon their faith. Andy has first hand experience of people who are on the edge of losing their faith and can offer practical and compassionate advice. BECAUSE YOU’RE WORTH IT Emma Scrivener & Dr. Angela Minion | Sale Ring Everywhere we look we’re told who we are and what we’re worth. But what happens when the different messages don’t add up? THE TALENT

MAINSTAGE SPEAKERS DUFFY ROBBINS Professor of Youth Ministry at Eastern University, St Davids, PA, Duffy is a 35 year veteran of youth ministry who is widely respected as one of the leading voices in youth and family ministry. His warm conversational style, coupled with a quick sense of humor and a unique ability to make Scripture come alive have also made him a popular speaker for Bible Conferences, Parenting Seminars, Faculty Workshops, College chapels, Mens’ Retreats and Family Camps and Conferences.

SIMON GUILLEBAUD Simon was born in Sussex and spent three years in Algeria and six years in France while he was growing up. He went to Loughborough University to study languages and politics before getting a job in marketing. However, God called him to go to Burundi, in wartorn Central Africa and for eight years he worked there. He is now based in Florida and is a passionate speaker at major events, sharing stories of radical risk-taking, death-threats and close-calls as he continues to strive to see God’s kingdom come in Africa.

RACHEL GARDNER Many of you might recognize Rachel as the face of BBC’s, ‘No Sex Please, We’re Teenagers’ programme, which aired in 2005, or as the author of best-selling book for girls, Cherished. Others, as the ubiquitous face of Harrow, North West London, where she can often be found shopping, drinking coffee and chatting to strangers whilst writing profound insights on teenage sexuality. She is the director of Romance Academy by day, lover of perioddramas and husband, Jason, by night.

KRISH KANDIAH Krish has worked with students in the UK with Universities and Colleges Christian Fellowship, and in Albania with the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students, before becoming pastor of a multi-cultural church in Harrow. He is still a regular speaker at university missions, and has wide experience in evangelism and crosscultural mission. A regular speaker at Spring Harvest, Krish is passionate about fresh expressions of church, biblical teaching, mission, social transformation and evangelism.

JASON GARDNER Jason is Youth Project Researcher at The London Institute for Contemporary Christianity. He is currently seeking to tie in trends in secular youth culture with how the Church approaches the issue of reaching out to today’s generation. Prior to his position at LICC, Jason completed degrees in English and Theology and has worked alongside young people in and outside the church.

JASPER RUTHERFORD Jasper was the youth worker at Willowfield Parish Church for over 7 years and is married to Lynne and they have two gorgeous children (but then, he is biased). Jasper is currently studying with the Church Army in the north of England and hopes to return to these shores (like a latter day St. Patrick) focussing fulltime on sharing the Good News with a new generation of saints and scholars.

WORSHIP LEADERS THE REND COLLECTIVE EXPERIMENT The Rend Collective Experiment started in 2004 as a group of 20 somethings trying to figure out life, God and community. Then in 2007 it grew into a collective of musicians and artists trying to share with the world what they were learning. Fresh from a US tour with Chris Tomlin and other dates worldwide, the guys are keen and ready to lead us in worship at SM2011 on Mainstage.

MARTIN SMITH Following a career which saw a string of hit singles, numerous albums and tours playing to hundreds of thousands of people, 2009 saw the end of an era with Delirious’ farewell tour. However the conclusion of the band brought about the beginning of a new time chapter for Martin Smith with the onset of the Compassion Art project, and his ongoing career as a solo artist and worship leader.

RYAN GRIFFITH Soon after he started leading worship as a teenager, picking up chords to Hillsong and Soul Survivor songs he started to write his own worship songs. “The two just came together,” he explains. Having been appointed director of worship at a local church, Ryan’s songs have taken root within countless lives. The debut album, recorded earlier this year, promises to spread those roots further still.

THE ARTISTS SILHOUETTE is the enigmatic alias of songstress, Shauna Tohill. She creates music from her heart and hopes to inspire, challenge & comfort people with it. To enhance the live experience, she is joined by the wonderful Peter McCauley on drums, beautiful Zarah Fleming on cello & the exceptional John Conway on double bass! She has seen much local success including tracks being playlisted on various radio stations and has appeared on TV.

[DWEEB] Noun: A boring, studious, or socially inept person. This dictionary definition couldn’t be further from the truth. Having announced their farewell tour, ‘The Collision Tour’ this is your last chance to catch the Midlands based four piece. With a diverse mix of musical influences ranging from Miles Davis to Incubus via the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, [dweeb] are an electrifying live band not to be missed.

BRIAN HOUSTON From humble beginnings as an apprentice in the shipyards of East Belfast, Brian has been making music for decades now, and across countless genres. He’s received praise from radio DJs the world over, and has toured substantially. There’s a simple reason as to why he is still in demand as a performer whilst countless others have seen their popularity wane: he is an outstanding performer.

CHASING OWLS After forming in 2010, this Edinburgh based four-piece have enjoyed a very busy number of months with highlights including playing the NME Weekender Festival and opening for Athlete, as well as achieving airplay on the likes of BBC’s Radio 1, 2 and 6 Music to name but a few. Their live performance sees the intimacy and sensitivity of their recorded material meet with exciting energy and enthusiasm, creating a strong live act.

RAMS’ POCKET RADIO RAMS’ pocket radio is Peter McCauley, a drummer, pianist, jackof-all instruments and songwriter. Unfettered personal expression is the impetus of the project and with the works of the 1950’s product designer, Dieter Rams, in mind - purity, simplicity and longevity are the first concerns. RAMS’ Pocket Radio is playing at Glastonbury this year so don’t miss this opportunity to catch them before they go massive.

PAUL COLMAN Paul Colman is a Grammy Nominated singer/ songwriter. He has performed all over the world, written hit singles, garnered numerous awards and has sold hundreds of thousands of records. THE ARTISTS NATHAN JESS Nathan’s captivating performances and his well considered and gripping songwriting are causing many to sit up and listen. From an early age, finding the old forgotten guitar underneath his parents’ bed unknowingly gave birth to an intense desire to make music. A number of years on and Nathan continues to pursue his longing to be a relevant songwriter and worship leader.

CAPTAIN CAMERON From the quiet obscurity of Drumbeg, he found his folk legs on the rock stage with SixStarHotel, yet his own sound follows another path. His music is delicate and considered, awash with passionate crescendos and fragile phrases that convince us that he truly means what he sings. His music is unquestionably beautiful, full of stillness and intensity, musing, wondering and intent. Indeed, Captain Cameron has a command of verse and chorus befitting his name.

THE E100 BIBLE READING CHALLENGE ARE YOU UP FOR IT? How much of the Bible do you really know and when was the last time you made an effort to get to grips with what it is all about? Why not join in with thousands of others this year and spend some time covering the Big Story – cover to cover in just 100 readings? These will give you a good understanding of the overall story, from Genesis to Revelation. There are 50 readings from the Old Testament and 50 from the New Testament. While the reading plan can be used by individuals, it is even more powerful when undertaken in the local church or youth group, or with the online community. So to help you along the journey we are providing a website (www.e100chat.com) that will offer day-by-day commentary on the readings from highly regarded local Bible teachers and youth leaders. You will also be able to leave your own comments and questions and engage in discussion with others about the issues raised. The E100 blog begins on 3rd October 2011. Youth leaders and teachers also have access to a range of resources from the E100 website (www.e100challenge.org.uk) to help promote and support the initiative, such as sermon outlines, discussion starters, personal planners, etc Summer Madness and Exodus have printed this book to make it easier for you to complete the E100 Reading Plan - because we believe that you will hear God speaking through His Word in new and fresh ways – enjoy the Challenge!
