A LETTER FROM J. LENNOX SCOTT

Dear friends,

At John L. Scott Real Estate, delivering transactional excellence is our business but our higher purpose is rooted in Living Life as a Contribution® — a guiding principle that shapes who we are as individuals and as a company. Since its establishment in 1997, the foundation has been dedicated to helping kids get healthy and be at home.

In 2024, the John L. Scott Foundation helped sponsor 28 events that collectively helped raise over $20 million to support children’s healthcare in the communities we serve. Additionally, John L. Scott continued to prepare meals for the families at the Ronald McDonald House several times a month.

I am incredibly proud and appreciative of the charitable efforts and contributions made by the entire John L. Scott team. Our broker associates and support team generously donate their time and a portion of their commissions to the John L. Scott Foundation. It is truly an honor to work alongside such compassionate and committed individuals.

Sincerely,

PATIENT STORIES

Meet Hailee | Seattle Children’s

At just 3 years old, Hailee was diagnosed with a rare genetic disease that requires ongoing care, including multiple surgeries and weekly enzyme replacement therapy.

The financial challenges of Hailee’s care could have been overwhelming, but Seattle Children’s stepped in with life-changing aid, allowing her family to focus on what truly matters: helping Hailee thrive and shine. Today, Hailee is in third grade and slaying the day!

Meet Gavin | Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital

When Gavin first complained of chest pain, Mom Kristen couldn’t have imagined the diagnosis would be cancer. But even as their world turned upside down, Gavin and his family were never alone, thanks to MultiCare Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital.

Oncologist Vanessa Tolbert, MD; surgeon Liz Berdan, MD; nurses; child life specialists; and social workers — along with donors who champion Mary Bridge Children’s world-class, family-centered services — supported the 11-year-old every step of the way.

After 14 cycles of chemotherapy, 27 sessions of radiation, 19 blood transfusions and five platelet transfusions, Gavin rang the bell to mark the end of his treatment. He’s currently healthy and thriving — back to playing all matter of sports and giving his signature thumbs up.

Meet Tima | Doernbecher Children’s Hospital

If you’ve never heard of XLP, you’re not alone. This immune system disorder is extremely rare, affecting only about one out of a million boys — and Tima is one of them. “I was really sick,” he recalled of the years before his diagnosis. “I got super skinny and felt tired all the time.”

To help restart his immune system, Tima received a bone marrow transplant at Doernbecher on March 4, 2022, a day he refers to as his second birthday. “The team at Doernbecher was amazing,” added his mom, Luba. “They made Tima feel right at home and decorated his room with all sorts of fun things so he wouldn’t feel scared. We knew he was in great hands.”

Now that he’s feeling better, Tima can get back to all his favorite activities, like building LEGO sets, watching soccer and hanging out with his family. “He’s such a silly, mischievous kid,” said his big sister Elizabeth affectionately. “But he’s also really brave.”

Meet Malachi | St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital

Diagnosed with trachea malacia, a laryngeal cleft, and Down syndrome, Malachi’s path was far from ordinary. A tracheostomy became his lifeline at nine months, setting the stage for a challenging but courageous journey to recovery.

Despite facing obstacles, including traveling between Idaho and Cincinnati for specialized care, Malachi’s family found solace in the unwavering support of St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital. The dedicated healthcare professionals collaborated closely with Malachi’s family, not only saving his life but also filling it with love and care.

While Malachi’s tracheostomy is now behind him, new challenges have emerged, requiring major surgery. His family, fueled by determination and prayer, face these obstacles with resilience.

Malachi’s heartwarming story highlights St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital as a beacon of hope, where the collaboration between families and healthcare experts creates daily miracles.

PATIENT STORIES

Meet Scarlett | Camp Korey

Scarlett’s journey with Camp Korey began at the age of six. Over her eleven years of camp, she has embarked on countless adventures, forged lasting friendships, and created cherished memories at what has become her second home. These experiences woven together with the magic of shared camp traditions fostered a sense of belonging for Scarlett, making her feel safe and confident enough to try new things and explore her boldest, truest, self. Embraced by a community that celebrated her, she discovered her passion for the stage and the joy of sharing her poetry and comedy.

One of her favorite traditions, “The Book of Firsts,” perfectly encapsulates this journey.

“It’s not just about the firsts you’ve done, but all the firsts everyone else has done, and you can share in the experience of trying new things together, which is vulnerable for many people, and that connection is what brings us closer.” - Scarlett, Camper Alum

Shared experiences at Camp Korey help kids, including Scarlett, build confidence to express their own selves and find strength in each other’s differences. These meaningful opportunities equipped and empowered Scarlett with the courage and skills to become a future leader and role model in her community. As she ages out of programs and concludes her time as a camper, she looks forward to passing on the magic that has shaped her life to others by becoming a camp counselor.
