Values Day 2022

On Wednesday 11 May, all of our pupils and staff from John Lyon and Quainton Hall (our prep school) came together to celebrate our School Values and mark the end of John Lyon’s historic 145th anniversary year, in which we became co-ed, and also kicked off Quainton Hall’s 125th anniversary celebrations.

The day began with a wholeschool photograph of over 1,000 people – and afterwards prep and senior pupils formed mixed agegroup teams to take part in more than 30 activities spread across John Lyon’s main campus, our Sudbury Fields and Quainton Hall in central Harrow. The teams, led by senior pupils, participated in a range of activities inspired by the school’s values and commitment to sustainability. To name but a few, they designed vacuums, went on treasure hunts, learnt about electric vehicles, cooked quick and healthy plantbased meals, learnt about composting, took part in sustainable games, built hedgehog hotels, recycled and looked for bees and other insects. A real highlight was seeing some of the older senior students interacting with the younger prep pupils – supporting and encouraging them throughout the day.

Values Day not only provided us with a unique opportunity to promote and reflect upon our core eight values, but it also allowed us to come together as one 3-18 through-school, from nursery right the way up to sixth form – and to celebrate our wonderful community! n
