Pupil dances at British Basketball finals

A special mention to Harry B (9CKL) who had the honour of performing with his dance crew – Flawless – at the British Basketball League (BBL) final held at no less a venue than the O2 Arena in May and broadcast live on Sky Sports! What an amazing stage to have hosted Harry and his group’s spectacular dancing talents! n

Mindfulness

Our CCP (co-curricular programme) introduces pupils to a variety of activities designed to help them understand the importance and meaning of wellbeing and mindfulness in daily life. As part of the programme, pupils explore the concept of physical and mental wellbeing, are introduced to meditation and discover the benefits of mindfulness and yoga through a range of activities. Two Year 7 pupils reflect on their CCP experience… “Mindfulness shifts our minds from the negative impacts that we usually fixate on and realigns us with a positive mind set. Last term, our group participated in a mindfulness programme for CCP. During these sessions, we focused on our senses through meditation practice, chair yoga, group games, mindful colouring and a peaceful walk – all of which helped us compose and prepare ourselves for our upcoming exams. The mindfulness course also enabled us to reflect on our feelings so that we can feel secure expressing them. A particularly helpful facet was the way it enabled us to continue these mindful activities at home as well as discovering other calming ones, making the programme as a whole a great success!”
