PONTE LAMBRO, MILAN,IT URBAN PLANNING PROJECT

The project has launched by Milan municipality for almost 15 years ago, a lot of universities and architects such as Renzo Piano, have worked on it during the current period. and Politecnico di Milan had done a lot of researches on it as well. the last project was running by Comune di Milano contratto di quartiere, and it has not gone well. so, together with my group mates had done some proposals in terms of policies and physicals aspects in order to reach better life quality for the citizen and improving their neighborhood’s general environment.

5

Ponte Lambro, Milan https://issuu.com/johnnymr/docs/ponti_lambro It is aimed at an exemplary case: the Ponte Lambro neighborhood, an area on the extreme outskirts of Milan that for years has been represented by the media, by the population, and by policies as the most difficult among the districts of the Milan suburbs. The municipality is in fact at the center of the debate on the Milanese suburbs and Ponte Lambro has become an emblematic case of the redevelopment policies. After analyzing the context from a historical and physical point of view, the study has moved in the direction of giving solutions to all those material and immaterial problems that have emerged. Therefore, the main goal of the project is to revitalize and regenerate the neighborhood.

IT’S MORE THAN PHYSICAL PROBLEMS IT’S ABOUT LEGITIMACY PRINCIPLES, AND EQUALITY

VISION

GOALS

After completing all the analysis (the cities, the interviews & SWOT), we have moved on to denfining the problems we are trying to answer through the livability and opportunity strategies. In the diagram shown, the various problems are represented in a hierarchical way. The problems re resented in a more evident and colorful way, In fact, are those to which the strategies want to give a direct answer.

The goals of this strategy are: The creation spaces where young people can have the opportunity to learn new skills and take the first steps in the workplace The realization of spaces in which people can introduce their small business activities

The goals of this strategy are: The improvement of the qual ty of life within the neighborhood, The definition of a new and better image of the neighborhood, The implementation of new places where people can interact and spend time together, relax and practice sports

VITTABLITY MILAN, ITALY URBAN PLANNING PROJECT

Vittabbia valley in the southern part of Milan, it an agricultural area with some small fragmented towns unconnected with Milan or with themselves, surrounded by huge infrastructure like the highways (e35, a7) that’s represent Milano’s southern entrance, also the railway that goes through vittabbia’s heart without any stop station inside. although what makes the valley interesting territory is its historical value like Chiaravalle Abby and the historic canals that goes through it since 1100 dc, making the valley an important area to spot a light on. in my project, i respect these values and tried to light on that missing spot in the region.

Vision:

Vittability, Milan, Italy

4 Aspects:

https://issuu.com/johnnymr/docs/booklet_vettabiability_00

The Area and its connected areas are a big complex and mainly defined by the Olona and Lambro River, also from geological aspects. We decided to have a look there because when you visit this part of the valley it feels like its separated by all the highways and railways, which surrounding it and just defined by this vertical axis. So we had a closer look oat today’s problems of the Vettabia Valley in this area. The idea is to give some scenarios to inspire the whole valley.

SYRIAN MEDIA COMPLEX URBAN DESIGN PROJECT

The project was launched by the Ministry of Media, they had done its functional program and they bought the land where it supposed to be done. the big challenge in this project was to distinguish between its buildings along with squares, plazas, and parks. also, to be sure of how to make the ministry building dominating, the Damascene identity for the cultural one, and diversified shape for radio and television one. nevertheless, this project had respected many aspects such as urban design and architectural design also landscaping one which is making from it a new landmark to be added to Damascus

THE MAIN DESIGN GOALS MORE STUDIOS BRILLIANT PRODUCTION SMART SOLUTIONS

From the right, you can see the privet channels, in the middle of the shoot, the ministry building comes directly beside the cultural centrer and on the left the radio and television building. It’s noticeable how the buildings surround the main plazas that could be a space for public activities and concerts

The urban concept

Those public spaces could easily be transferred into “open-air studios” that allow the television channels to film, interview, make competitions, and so on. All that would transfer the area into space for interactions and make it more liveable.

Why we prefer the complex for this kind of projects ? Most of Civilized Nation START to built media cities because of there are multiple benefits like Easy access among multi-media buildings, speed news transfer, lower costs, take advantage of the joint studios, the establishment of culture and art events varied

OLYMPIC SWIMMING POOL STRUCTURAL DESIGN PROJECT

An academic project launched by Damascus university, faculty of architecture and the fourth year students supervised by the structure and building section. how to cover a (50)m radius of circle hall for a sports purpose without any structural elements inside? That was the big challenge of this project with a former design that’s couldn’t be edited, so instead of supporting the roof on the ground, let’s hold it on air, that’s lead the users to feel the greatness of the structural elements making from the building a landmark,

25

BALANCED ARC CONCEPT: The ARC mega structure: •Stay slope of 25° to 30° is usually optimal. •Steep stay slope causes small forces but high masts. •Shallow stay slope causes high forces but low masts. The Bicycle wheel concept. Two halves of the wheel are separated, then crossed to give a wider outside ring.

•As a general rule when erecting suspension-type structures larger or smaller than the one illustrated, you can work to the distance between the top and bottom lifting cables being 5% of the width of the span •The upwards deflection of the roof stabilizes it against upward wind forces whilst the tension in the top lifting cable stabilizes it against downward wind forces.

PEACE THROUGH CIVILIZATIONS #PAGRI

06/

INDIAN PAVILLION DESIGN PROJECT / EXPO

One of the most important aspects of this project is that the design has respected the Indian culture in all over the country, as it’s known India has more than a thousand religions, the only thing that gathers those together is what they call pagri, it was the design inspiration. It let the visitors explore and learn more about the Indian traditions smell their flowers, taste their spices, nevertheless they can also learn about their believes directly when they reach Krishna sculpture in the lobby, the organic design of this project gives its visitors relax feeling, either they entering through the ramp or the gardens.

31

#VISITOR PATH #MASALA-CAFE #DANCE-HALL First, the visitor will be welcomed in the circle of life which contains two floors The first one is a traditional cafe that serves a CUP OF INDIAN TEA with a different kind of pepper The second one is a dancing hall where the visitors could try INDIAN DANCE

HOTEL 5 STARS

STRUCTURAL DESIGN PROJECT In this project, working on a mix among different types of structural concepts (the tower, the lobby, the swimming pool, the services area, and the joints). the project shows the deferences between its different parts, considering each one of them as a structured mass. making sure that the integration among these parts is the main concern

The Concept: How to split the building into different structural elements ? 1-The Tower’s structural concept The shape of the tower in terms of the plane’s shape or the mass’s shape, able to have a lot of structural ways to define it, what is the best choice? a Core and Suspension cables

2- The Lobby’s structural concept i decided to deal with the structural elements of the lobby by using steel mushrooms columns; a way of space-saving, high capability

3- Other facilities (gym, rest, swimming pool) The hotels come along with Parking and this part we should respect especially when you work in big and traffic cities like Damascus.

What about the JOINTS?

It’s important for projects that have deferent structure installation to SPLIT them up in order to wights, weather time changes... So in this project, by using two types of joint 1-Settlement joints 2-expansion joints
