Friday Enjoy a leisurely journey to Torquay, arriving during the afternoon. One of Britain’s most famous resorts, it is situated at the heart of 22 miles of unspoilt coastline, it is often referred to as the “English Riviera”. It has a mild climate, sparkling blue waters and in its beautiful public gardens, you will see subtropical plants and palm trees. With something to offer everyone, no wonder it is so popular. Saturday Why not join us for a half-day excursion to Brixham and Paignton? We head first to Brixham, a pretty fishing port with a bustling waterside fringed by colourful houses on the surrounding hillsides. The harbour is also home to a replica of Sir Francis Drake’s ship, the Golden Hind. We then spend some time in Paignton with its long, sandy beaches, lively seafront and fantastic views across Torbay. Sunday A leisurely morning in Torquay before returning home after lunch.

Sunday We visit Clarks Village at Street – With over 90 outlet shops to choose from, offering up to 60% off rrp on a host of famous brands, you can enjoy a wide choice of fashion, homeware, sportswear and gift ideas at great discount prices – outlet shopping has never been more enjoyable. In the afternoon we continue to Sidmouth for our overnight stay. Monday Unspoilt, unhurried, Sidmouth is a small, charming and elegant resort with a level promenade, interesting shops and colourful floral displays…. it’s all here in this lovely seaside town that nestles beneath majestic red cliffs and the green hills of the glorious Sid Valley. Departing mid-afternoon, we return home during the evening.
Sunday We journey south west, pausing at the Clifton Suspension Bridge Visitors Centre before arriving for a succulent cream tea (scones/jam/cream and tea/coffee) in Wells Cathedral. After attending Evensong, we check in to the nearby Swan Hotel for dinner and our 2-night stay. Monday Beautiful Bath is today’s destination - a truly unique city with its hot springs, Roman Baths, splendid Abbey and Georgian stone crescents that has been attracting visitors for centuries. Tuesday A free morning to explore Wells, England’s smallest city or join us on a short drive to the ancient market town of Glastonbury - The town has a wealth of beautiful, historic buildings including the ruins of Glastonbury Abbey set in 36 acres of parkland (admission not included). It is also known for its bohemian culture, quirky shops and cafés. In the afternoon we visit the magnificent limestone Cheddar Gorge. Classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Britain’s largest gorge has dramatic cliffs rising up 450ft and stunning stalactite caverns before returning homewards.

Your Holiday Itinerary Sunday Driving through the glorious Cotswolds region we pause at the region’s capital – Cirencester. Here we can discover the beautiful 12th century Augustine Abbey of St Mary’s nestling amidst a delightful array of ancient honey coloured stone buildings located in picturesque narrow streets, courtyards and alleyways. In the afternoon before reaching our hotel, we continue to Lacock village, with its Abbey (NT). This delightful market town has a colourful medieval past with a wealth of history and architectural heritage with more than 500 listed buildings and a large Market Place in the heart of the town. Friday Tucked away beside the Thames, The Chelsea Physic Garden is the oldest botanic garden in London and houses around 5,000 different medicinal, herbal, edible, and useful plants. The Garden’s unique microclimate and location has allowed the gardeners here throughout history to grow plants not frequently found outside in the UK, including the UK’s largest fruiting olive tree. Many top garden celebrities are brought to the Physic Garden to be interviewed for TV, away from the hurly-burly of the Chelsea Flower Show itself. Your Holiday Itinerary Friday We travel to Newmarket where we include a tour of the National Stud. Lasting approximately 90 minutes our tour is by coach and on foot. We will explore this beautiful 500-acre stud farm and discover the history and purpose of The National Stud as a commercial Thoroughbred breeding operation. The National Stud is a working commercial stud farm, so the physical content of the tours varies throughout the year, depending on the season and the activities happening on the stud when you visit. From here we continue to our hotel for our 2-night stay. Saturday Free time to discover the sights of Cambridge. The renowned University and its colleges dominate the city centre, and there is an abundance of magnificent historical architecture with the crowning glory being the famous King’s College Chapel. There are a number of museums to explore including the Scott Polar Museum and the Museum of Zoology, and for shopping there is an abundance of independent shops and high street brands. Sunday We visit the Imperial War Museum Duxford. At the start of the Second World War, Duxford was a Royal Air Force fighter base and the control tower and two of the hangars are original. Today, IWM Duxford is Europe’s largest air museum and the fascinating collection includes military and civil aircraft ranging from the First World War to the present-day including Concorde, the Lancaster Bomber and Mosquito plus historic military aircraft and supersonic jets. We depart mid-afternoon and commence our homeward journey.

Your Holiday Itinerary Sunday A brisk drive north, arriving in York late morning. Grab a bite to eat at any of the cafes and coffee shops before heading up to the main attraction in the city – York Minster, built in 1338, it is the largest gothic cathedral of its kind in Northern Europe and is a true feat of architecture and engineering and boasts the biggest expanse of medieval stained glass in the world. Later you can stroll the famous cobbled streets of The Shambles before checking in to our hotel in time for dinner. Monday A morning at leisure in York. Perhaps take a boat trip on the River Ouse, stroll down Viking streets at the Jorvik Centre, take a walk on the famous city walls, or explore one of the city’s incredible museums… York simply has it all! Enquiries – just contact our office at Liveridge Hill, Henley-in-Arden (on the Birmingham Road, A3400 north of Henley) or an appointed Travel Agent. Great Breaks Booking – For a provisional booking, a simple telephone call is all that is needed. We will hold places for you without obligation for 7 days. (Please note; provisional bookings will be cancelled automatically if payment is not received within 7 days). Confirmation of Booking – In order to confirm your booking we require a £50 per person Deposit within 7 days. Once received we will send you your Great Breaks confirmation, the number and location of seats booked and confirmed departure time. Your final balance will be due 8 weeks prior to departure.

Methods of Payment – All normal methods of payment, including cash, cheque, by debit and credit card, by bank transfer and by telephone or by post are acceptable. PLEASE MAKE CHEQUES PAYABLE TO: ‘Johnsons (Henley) Limited’. Cancellation by the Company – Should circumstances arise where, due to less than 20 bookings, we are forced to cancel a Great Break holiday all monies paid by all passengers for that particular excursion will be refunded and following that the Company shall be exempt from any further liability. Cancellation by the Passenger – You may cancel your Great Break holiday at any time and provided that we receive notice of cancellation within 56 days (8 weeks) of the departure date, then we will refund you the value of the break, less a £20 cancellation charge and the value of your travel insurance premium. No refunds can be given for cancellations made less than 56 days prior to departure. You may be able to claim back the cost of your Great Break (less the insurance premium and the insurance excess charge) through your travel insurance which can be purchased at the time of booking. For all other terms and conditions please refer to the Trading Charter. Travel Insurance – is available on all of our Great Breaks. Prices commence from just £17.00 per person Inclusions – The ‘Look What’s Included’ section on each page highlights those entrances/admissions that are included within your Great Break price. All other admissions and lunches are not included. Hotels - Porterage is generally provided in most hotels. Dinners in some hotels are served on a carvery basis, please ask for details. Alterations – The company reserves the right to alter or cancel any of the Great Breaks listed in this brochure, and to alter the size and specification of the vehicle used. If you Change Your Booking - If, after our confirmation has been issued, you wish to change to another of our holidays or change departure date, we will do our utmost to make the changes, but we cannot guarantee to do so. However, notification must be received in writing at our offices from the person who signed the booking form. This must be accompanied by a payment of £20 to cover our administrative costs, plus costs we incur in making the amendment. Alterations may not be able to be made within 6 weeks of departure and any such request for an alteration will be treated as a cancellation of the original booking and will be subject to the cancellation charges set out in paragraph below. Some arrangements cannot be changed without paying a cancellation charge of up to 100% of the ticket cost. Financial Security - For your peace of mind, JOHNSONS are Bonded Coach Holiday (BCH) members. The BCH, in alliance with ABTOT (The Association of Bonded Travel Organisers Trust Limited) provide a government approved scheme monitored and audited by the Confederation of Passenger Transport UK) CPT). This consumer protection scheme ensures that in relation to the coach package holidays described in this brochure, clients’ monies are protected by a Bond in the unlikely event of the Member’s insolvency. BCH operators are bound by rules and a code of conduct and must ensure that the terms of their trading charter are clear and reasonable. A copy of our Trading Charter is available online at www.johnsonscoaches.co.uk and will be forwarded to you with your holiday booking confirmation.
