Not included: All lunches. making a suitable stop for lunch en-route and arrive at our hotel during the early afternoon. Tuesday Our first visit today is to © Flickr – 35mmMan Paignton. Explore the harbour and sheltered coves or enjoy a stroll along the promenade. In the afternoon we head for the port of Brixham with its quaint narrow streets heading up from the waterfront. In the harbour is a replica of the Golden Hind, Sir Frances Drake’s ship. Watch the many boats heading across the bay to Brixham Torquay and beyond. Wednesday Today is your chance to explore Torquay. Known as the ‘Queen of the English Riviera’ Torquay is one of England’s best loved resorts. Explore the harbour, enjoy a stroll along the promenade or some shopping in the town centre. Relax in and around the hotel and watch the world go by. Thursday First, we visit the market town of Totnes with its variety of shops and historic buildings. We continue to delightful Dartmouth. The River Dart is busy with boats of all shapes and sizes, and the town hosts the Royal Naval College. We have time for lunch here before we return to the hotel late afternoon. Friday Departing our hotel after breakfast we return homeward making a convenient stop for lunch en-route arriving home in the afternoon.

Majestically overlooking Meadfoot Beach and the sea, set on the headland, the Headland is around 15 minutes’ walk to the beach and centre. Originally built for the Romanoff’s, the Russian Royal Family, this is an excellent seaside hotel with good food and a choice menu, dining at leisure and 2-night entertainment. All bedrooms are en-suite and have television, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. Bars, restaurant, lounge area, gardens and spa & hydro pools. Mobility Grade: 3. The hotel has a lift which serves most floors.

Join us for our South Devon Coast Tour where we enjoy a boat cruise on the River Exe, a ride on the South Devon Railway and free time in Exeter and Dartmouth. We are based at the Headland Hotel overlooking the English Riviera town of Torquay
Holiday Itinerary
Sunday We journey to Devon, arriving during the afternoon at the Headland Hotel for our 5-night stay. Tea/coffee and biscuits on arrival. Entertainment provided during your stay. Monday Today is a free day to enjoy the resort of Torquay. Tuesday Our tour begins with a Devon coastal tour. Following the shore road, we pass through Teignmouth and Dawlish and continue north to the Cathedral City of Exeter. We take a break here and have time to explore the city before we continue along the Exe estuary to the pleasant resort of Exmouth. Here we have time for lunch before we enjoy a cruise along the River Exe discovering the history, beauty and wildlife of the river. Wednesday This morning we drive into Newton Abbot where today is market day. Enjoy a browse around the stalls and a look at the town where you can obtain lunch. Leaving Newton Abbot, we have a ride to Buckfastleigh. Here we join the South Devon Railway. Originally a Great Western Railway branch line, the line hugs the Dart estuary on the journey to Totnes. On arrival you can stretch your legs before the train returns to Buckfastleigh. Here, the railway offers an extensive museum, workshops, gifts and book shop and refreshment rooms. Thursday We head into the South Hams region of Devon. First we take a break in Kingsbridge, ‘capital’ of South Devon, with a chance to look around the pleasant town. Moving on we head for delightful Dartmouth with its many naval connections, including the Royal Naval College. We have lunchtime here and you can enjoy a lovely stroll along the busy harbour, or just sit and watch the boats. Late afternoon we return to the hotel. Friday Homeward bound.
