Holiday Itinerary
Day 1 We travel to the West Country arriving at our hotel during the early afternoon. Day 2 This morning we explore ‘Bygones’, a deceptively large and fascinating attraction that brings Britain’s past and childhood memories to life. Discover a life-size authentically created Victorian Street a 28-foot model railway, a mock-up of World War 1 trenches, a 1950’s shopping arcade and much more. We continue to Torre Abbey, Torbay’s most historic building, set within 18 acres of garden and parkland. It houses an impressive art collection boasting over 600 incredible works of art from the 18th century to the present day. Day 3 A day of contrasts as we head for Newton Abbot, a delightful Devon town. Wander through the old Butter Market or just enjoy the outdoor market in the town square. Then it is on to Dartmoor National Park, a wild expanse dotted with granite rocks and tors rising up from the barren bogs, heather clad moors and hidden villages. We visit Widecombe-in-the-Moor, a typical Dartmoor village, probably best known for Widecombe Fair and its associated folksong. Day 4 Today we enjoy an excursion via the South Devon coastline through Shaldon, Teignmouth to Dawlish, renowned for its black swans. We continue to the resort of Sidmouth, described as the quintessential English seaside resort, overlooking the waters of Lyme Bay on a stretch of designated World Heritage coastline. Day 5 A short day which will take us via historic Totnes and the South Hams to the quaint old port of Dartmouth. A lovely riverside town with inviting narrow streets to explore featuring boutique shops and art galleries, delightful, cobbled quaysides and colourful gardens. Day 6 Homeward bound.
