EDITOR’S NOTE

Hey Giraffes! Hope all of your summers are going great, whether you’re out soaking up the hot summer sun or just taking advantage of all this free time at home (like me haha)! I don't mean to alarm you, but our vacations are soon coming to a close. Hope to see you soon at our future service events and around campus (once school starts)! -Joie Pfondevida, Historian

DIVISION HIKE CLEAN UP

DIVISION HIKE CLEAN UP

RCHS Key Club joined hands with the rest of Division 15 North in hiking up Etiwanda Preserve to the waterfalls. Meeting up at 8 AM, key clubbers from all across the division warmed up to each other with an ice breaker known as “My Friendly Neighbor. Shortly after we began hiking up the trail, piking up trash and any other articles that are considered hazardous to the environment. In doing so, we were able to not only help preserve the environment, but feel good in doing so as we got our morning exercise. After 3 hours of hiking, we returned to where we had started that morning with bags full of trash. Having bonded and made an impact on their community through the preservation of the trail, our key clubbers were delightful to have taken part in such a wonderful event. -Galen Han, President

HUERTA DE At this event, we helped out a community garden in Ontario prepare for the next season of crops. We started “cleaning out rows of sunflowers under the warm summer sun, making sure there was plenty of space to plant something new for the following months. As we uprooted the tall plants, we gathered them to bring over to a large compost area towards the back of the garden and they kindly offered us to bring as many sunflowers home as we wanted! Just before wrapping up this wonderful event, we picked small grape tomatoes. -Joie Pfondevida, Historian
