EDITOR’S

NOTE

Happy September everybody! I hope everyone’s school year is off to a great start! It’s been really great meeting many new members (new to Rancho Key Club and other schools alike) and I’m very excited for our future events together. I’m also getting really eager to celebrate some of fall festivities and really just getting into a spooky kind of vibe, and yes, I know that’s a whole month away. But I’ll see you then with a new newsletter!

FEED THE CHILDREN On August 25th, a Saturday, our event coordinators set up an event with an organization known as “Feed the Children. At this event, key clubbers assembled hygiene boxes to be shipped off to parts of the world in need! Everyone had fun, as we knew we were making a difference to the community, and well, the world! We had a total of 19 members, all happy to have served their communities! This event was a great opportunity for new members to get a few service hours as it took place from 8am-11am (3 hours).

HOSPITAL CARD MAKING On August 17th, our club held a hospital card making after school in our advisor’s room! This was one of our first events of the term with our new members, thus meaning that we had a lot of new members! Here, we made cute cards for patients in hospitals! We supplied colorful paper and various art supplies, and encouraged our members to bring their own from home. This was a great way to bond with members and overall just an awesome event to introduce our freshman to! We had a total of 26 members!

CLUB

RUSH

A big thank you to those of you that came by our booth to sign up at club rush! It was extremely hectic but we’re glad that you stopped by and brought along some friends too! We’re all excited to see you all and get to know you better through service hours and social events! Hope to see you soon!

SEPTEMBER

HIKE CLEAN UP On September 1st, RCHS Key Club and its new and returning members alike went hiking up Etiwanda Preserve to the waterfalls. Meeting up at 8 AM, we began hiking the trail, picking up trash and any other articles of waste that are could potentially harm to the environment. In doing so, we were able to not only help preserve the environment, but feel good in doing so as we helped out others in our community and get our own early morning activity and exercise. Afterwards, we came back down the trail with bags full of trash.

DOG TOY MAKING Dog toy making was an event that went by quickly, but was super fun! We recycled old shirts that members donated to braid into dog toys. First, we found groups or partners, giving each other a helping hand. Next, we cut our shirts into strips, then began to braid! Afterwards, we collected all of the finished products to donate to a local shelter.
