RECAP ON

events

Rock painting is a fun and simple activity that I’ve enjoyed doing a lot during

GNITNIAP KCOR

quarantine to pass time. It’s a very simple activity— all you need is paint, a rock, a brush, and lil creativity. I’ve painted a variety of rocks in the past just for fun with my cousins and sisters. I thought it was a great opportunity to kill two birds with one stone (haha!), and earn community service hours while spreading kindness. the idea is simple really— paint something inspiring or cheerful on a rock, and leave it for someone else to find. It can bring some happiness to them, and I think that’s pretty great. So, the next time you come across a day where you have nothing to do (there’s probably going to be a lot of those), paint a rock. Spread kindness and make someone smile! After all, you rock!

 DOOHROBHGIEN EHT GNINAELC

One of the at home services Key Club offered that I did was cleaning yards. I went walking around a neighborhood and a park with my friends to pick up trash and clean. As advised, we all followed social distancing rules and wore gloves. By participating in this activity, it provided a sense of unity and normalcy during the Covid-19 pandemic. Additionally, the environment will appear to be much nicer and hopefully allow more people to play or hangout in an area without much litter. When seeing the clean park, I wish that it will impact people in a way where they will also start cleaning up the area as well. After this service, I would 100% do this again as it is a good way to get hours, make a positive impact in your community, but is also a fun way to hangout with your friends.

REIRRAC LIAM OT RETTEL

While writing my letter to my mail carrier I wanted to include a more meaningful way to say thanks. To add a little more personality to my letter I added colorful decorations and cute stickers to get their attention! My neighborhood always gives our appreciation to our mail carriers for their hard work. We take the time out of our day to remind one another that even through the hardships, we will continue to cheer from our homes. Till this day, we still add letters of appreciation to our mail box for them to read. My mail carriers have even told me in person, they appreciate D7S and their sweet ideas of appreciation!

KEY CLUB

moments but first..

WHAT IS A 'KEY CLUB MOMENT'? A Key Club moment is the time you experience a life changing moment that leads you to falling in love with the organization and its countless opportunities to grow and meet new people. Many Key Clubbers have had their “moment during service events, meetings, training conferences, FRN, DCON, and more! - Kaley Xiong

WHY IS A 'KEY CLUB MOMENT' IMPORTANT? Often those that have a Key Club Moment are the ones who become dedicated and immersed in the Key Club community. They are the ones that go further, being long time committed members or future officers that led the club. - Jolynn Doan

KATHY TRI

ip club tech editor Hey monsters! My name is Kathy Tri and I’ve been in Key Club since my freshman year. My Key Club moment was at my first Fall Rally (2017). During Fall Rally, I saw that there are a lot of people out there that are willing to help their communities and it made me realize that Key Club is one big family that bonded through community service. I first joined Key Club only to get my hours over with until people started reaching out to be my friend. They were super welcoming and made me feel like I belonged. Key Club helped me become the person I am today. I am not as shy as I used to be and I love making new friends! The District Convention is my favorite memory because that’s when I started to really bond with my club. We spent more time together over the 3 days and I got to know everyone very well. Everyone I’ve met through Key Club are my closest friends to this day and I’m glad I chose to stay.

Heyo I’m Kaylin, an incoming junior and in my third year of Key Club. Ironic as it sounds, the club has most definitely been a key part of my high school experience. My favorite Key Club memory is most definitely the DCON 2019 where most of us cried and hugged and spoke words

we never did or had the chance to to each other after the last general session. I remember about almost everything and everyone who I hugged,

especially how the very first person I hugged, who I did not know cried so easily, unexpectedly made me cry as well. Looking back at pictures IP DLT officer, Karen Le, took of the occasion and of people crying makes me relive those moments of crying, hugging, laughing at others, rushing to wipe tears to take pictures with other clubs, seeing others looking between us and the tissues on the table, and just experiencing it all in general. I even still have one of the R16 papers that were set on the table to reserve seats. The overplayed songs for DCON slideshows still make me feel very nostalgic and when I remember the Disneyland trip we made afterwards I instantly get happy. And even though it’s hard or unlikely, I still wish for much more trips to happen with some of the same and more people, just connecting those in Key Club past and present.

CELINE NGUYEN

club secretary Howdy monsters! My name is Celine Nguyen, and I’m an incoming junior. Ever since joining Key Club in my freshman year I’ve made many unforgettable memories with the club that made my high school experience memorable. DCON 2019 has to be my Key Club moment because of all the memories I was able to make with the club members as well as learn about what Key Club is. Although I wasn’t as close to all the members prior to DCON, I was able to bond with not only the sophomores and juniors but also the departing seniors at that time, where as to now I still keep in contact with them. DCON 2019 was a rollercoaster, where we all shared happy memories with us laughing and chatting the night away, but also shedding tears when tissue boxes were being passed around the table at the last DCON session. I forever hold this experience and Key Club dear to my heart, and I can’t wait to make more memories with the club!
