After being forced to leave Spain during the COVID-19 outbreak, our Netherlands Studio was canceled. Instead, we re-positioned our studio to take place in Andalucia (Southern Spain). The prompt was to create a triptych using Corodoba in 3 moves (in order):
1. Left side - MAP how a tourist enters the city. Choose DNA's of the city.
2. Right side - PERFORM the DNA's and show how they are used within the city.
3. Middle - DEPLOY the DNA's in the city as a new "map" of Cordoba.
My Approach:
The DNA's that I chose were Segways and selfie sticks. I then decided to inspire my drawing from the Dutch painter Bosch's painting Garden of Earthly Delights.
1. Left side - Present tourists with temptations and heavenly knowledge.
2. Middle - Demonstrate how Segways and selfie sticks could be used in new settings (Plazas, tight streets, the river), "sinning"
3. Right side - Demonstrate "hell" on a Segway or with selfie sticks
