The studio project in Madrid takes place at the Matadero, a 19th century slaughter house that is currently an arts center. We were asked to look at the future of water shortages in the city of Madrid, using the Matadero as our project site. I used inspiration from stream-punk and cyber-punk comics as well as examining prevailing winds and climate change over the next 50 years. My ultimate design was using a large gramophone style capturing system to funnel nighttime air into the buildings while also using MOF (metallic organic framework) panels to pull moisture out of the air. This system essentials pulls water out of thin air to provide it to the local neighborhoods surrounding the Matadero. My calculations can be found on the last page which lead the scale and position of my design.
