Experiential Analogue Drafting and Rendering: Rome, Italy
While living in Rome a hand rendered map of the city in the style of the great map maker Giambattista Noli was developed over 5 weeks. My section of the city consisted of the Ponte i Castel Sant’Angelo, the Papal Bank, and the church Santa Maria della Pace by Bernini. The final map filled the floor and climbed the wall of our classroom with over 80 sheets of paper.

A Plaza Separated, Urban Redesign: Eminonu, Istanbul,
The Eminonu Ferry Terminal lies along the Bosphorus Strait on the European side of Istanbul, Turkey. The location neighbors the historic city of Constantinople with views of Galata Tower and numerous towering mosques by the infamous architect Sinan. The motivating factor driving this ferry station redesign was creating a connection between the northern and southern plazas that was initially divided by an 8-lane freeway. The solution was an occupiable bridge that mimics the curves of the landscape the city is nestled within.

Study Models of Structure, Form, and Vegetation
The scope of the project that the above models represent is a redesign of a lawn plot on the Academic Mall at the University of Minnesota. Exploration of scale, material, form , structure, and vegetation were all encouraged to create a unique space that differs from the existing turf. Left: rectilinear structure that incorporates pools. Top right: biomorphic land-form from glacier recession. Bottom right: controlled vegetation.
