Regular Rock Lynx readers will recognise modern hard rock band, LaVire from issue two’s centrespread, well now they’re back and they have been busy! I managed to catch up with Chloe Jolivel (Lead Vocals) and Adam Perkins (Drums) for a cheeky pint while we chatted about what they’ve got in store this year, and in true LaVire style, almost every question and enquiry was met with quick-witted humour and sarcasm… As I immediately found out from their opening statement:
Just that, nothing more. Enquiring further to dig out some more specific details, I asked about their recent line-up change as the band originally included five members and are now down to four. These types of questions can sometimes be a touchy subject; however, their answer was surprisingly light-hearted: former Lead Guitarist, Thomas ‘Ozzy’ Osbourne decided to step down from the band as he didn’t believe that their sound required two guitars. At first Chloe, Adam, Aaron Hall (Guitar), and Aaron Smith (Bass) were shocked, but on second thought, they agreed. Oz’s departure from the band was completely amicable and they remain very good friends. 2022 and why they decided to release four singles in one month? They replied: “We originally wanted to release three EP’s this year with five songs each, but when Oz left, we took a little break and when we came back, we just decided to release them as singles; We plan to release fourteen singles this year.”
With so many songs being written I asked who the main songwriter was, they replied: “Aaron and Chloe, but mainly Aaron; He has a drive full of songs ready to go!” It really is insane to think they will be releasing more than a song a month, every month for the entire year! What’s even more even more shocking, and a testament to their skill as a band is: “All the songs are self-produced, together as a team.” DIY producing music can come with its own challenges however one upside that Adam delighted in talking about was the use of his favourite plug-in effect
LaVire’s (formerly Tides) first gig at Bentley’s Bar, Lincoln.
Spending so much time working in the studio takes a lot of effort, and they said the only way to get through it is to be fulled by lots of
Trying to get down to the more serious side of the band, I asked what they hope to achieve with their music, their answer was surprisingly sensitive and humble: “Music is a safe space where people feel among their people, we’re trying to build an honest fanbase online. We want our music to reach people that it appeals to.” The band seem dedicated to reaching an audience that their music might resonate with so that they might feel a little better with it in their lives, LaVire honestly feel as though they’re for the people, it appears they love it when fans reach out to them, adding “We always engage with people”
Hearing such a kind group of people with honest intentions, it’s hard not to wish for them to do well in the future, I’m excited to see just where LaVire go next.
