We assumed the challenge of interpreting the new family structures and try to rethink the resulting housing typologies. The hierarchical structure of the living space remained the same, showing simplicity and functional clarity. The interaction between people and spaces change according to the expectations we set, as well as our rituals and behaviors. In this context the proposal seeks to formalize the basic need of space, housing as a shelter. This shelter serves in the same way both generations, constituting different levels of private spaces, providing autonomy. Due to these strategy results a living space, permeable and translucent, that allows a symbiotic connection with landscape, and social family gathering.

Urban experiences are the result of the degree of identification established with the environment.
Architecture constantly seeks answers to recreate dynamic urban atmospheres to fix people. The problem of rehabilitation doesn’t arise only in buildings but also, increasingly, in urban areas. We developed a solution that enables spatial and formal reorganization of the bordering territory. The exercise’s attractiveness was the programmatic complexity resulted from the development of a 5-star hotel. We tried to follow a methodological process well consolidated, constantly confronting ideas/concepts through the project’s exercise. The experiences associated with the proposed conceptual language served to strengthen the idea. It left us to a conceptual symbiosis. From the two dominant realities on the ground, a rural reality and another with a strongly urban character, we tried to reflect them in a solid and consistent speech. We also observed the contrast between the large horizontal plane of the surrounding area (very characteristic of the northern Portuguese coast) with the vertical marks of Petrogal. From the emergent simplicity of the tea house opposes the Petrogal’s tubes density.

the collective housing spaces are organized vertically, always perpendicular to the road
the second ring reserve the spaces for the public services provided by cities, spreads horizontally looking for a new sense of use
the first ring includes the trading spaces, they are responsible for the surrounding street’s character.
in order to respect the city’s linear occupation we have drawn these “rings” that define the urban plot design, and also the street type and its permeability.

The conceptual strategy sought to reinterpret the emerging realities of the territory - the quarter, the city block and urban plot - redefining the occupation standards and use of the city. We looked at the city block as a mobile element in the urban tissue, leaving out the idea of a simple result of urban plots overlapping, either deeper or in front of the street, contemplating his own trade space, services and pathways. The City block was formalized as a ring across the whole tissue. The urban plot is the defining element of the city block placing itself perpendicularly to the streets, hierarchizing them. (12)

D. Maria’s II square assumes, for its genesis, an important role in the development of the city of Vila Nova de Famalicão. It ensures that the scale perception and experiential interpretation is reflected in the square’s amplitude. The proposal aimed to transform the characteristic values of the place into strong intervention elements. It’s important to know the key role of the implantation as the structural element of the surroundings and the formal proposal as reaction to the library’s program - reflecting place’s linguistic (14)

The overall program of action tried a hybrid application. It was important to us to essay an attitude that allows specific responses face to the user profile needs.
The bordering moment of the medieval urban design (Sereia’s garden) confronts the new city and provides a great opportunity to think about it. Its proximity to two major defining moments of public activities, the garden and the library, makes it ideal for the programmatic manifestation in the city - the creation of a program to complement academic activities that will work as part of redesigning and restructuring the city livings.

The program expected the construction of a cover (connecting Day Centre / ATL) and a space that accommodates the new administrative building. The pre-existing cover shape allowed us to draw the new one. It was intended to create something more than a simply path connection. Something capable of generate a framed building with the surrounding space, and with the ability of being the transforming element of the institution’s identity. The proposal includes two volumes perceived from the outside: one that highlights the game between the covers and connects the two pre-existing buildings and another that formalizes the programmatic needs of the new administrative building (offices, files, clothing, and living room). functional modules that lead to spatial distribution
The clients wanted to build a small supporting building to an agricultural holding in Mozambique. The first part of the investment used a model of industrial building previously established in order to answer all the technical specifications and public health rules. Our office has designed the engineer’s house as well as the accesses and staff’s facilities. To harmonize the intervention and preserve the constructive assumptions we draw the supporting structure as flags of archetypal form. Therefore the project formal structure is similar to the
industrial pavilion’s shape previously established and it was this specific program that defined the spatial distribution.
