On the outside: Investigators chase down dangerous inmates in

‘The

Hunting Party’

What you don’t know can’t hurt you, right? While that may be true sometimes, a new procedural drama supposes what could happen if the most dangerous secret facility imaginable was breached. In the brand-new series “The Hunting Party,” premiering Monday, Feb. 3, on NBC, FBI agent Rebecca “Bex” Henderson (Melissa Roxburgh, “Manifest”) is tasked with tracking down the country’s most unpredictable inmates, who have escaped from an underground, off-the-books prison.

Most people are familiar with the FBI’s most wanted list of suspects alleged to have committed serious crimes. But what happens when those suspects are brought to justice and disappear into the system, never to be heard of again? “The Hunting Party” suggests that a high-level operation of deep solitary confinement keeps America’s most vicious criminals hidden far underground, away from society.

The inciting incident in the series is an explosion revealing the classified prison hidden beneath innocuous-looking farmland. The blast sets many inmates — who have been disappeared in one way or another on paper — free to roam and possibly commit more crimes in a world that has no idea they are still alive.

Skilled profiler Bex Henderson is brought in to lead a small team of highly specialized agents, only learning about the existence of the bunker facility once she’s brought on board to round up those inmates who have survived the blast and are now in the wind.

Bex’s team searches for the fugitives on the loose, but as they get deeper down the rabbit hole of the investigation, it becomes clear that there was a sinister reason behind the jailbreak — the explosion was planned.

“The blast was no accident,” Oliver Odell (Nick Wechsler, “Revenge”) tells Bex in the series’ official trailer, “Someone wanted those killers back out in the world.”

Oliver, who joins Bex’s investigative team, has a romantic past with the profiler, but both agents have bigger fish to fry and try to put their past behind them to work together. The rest of the team is made up of Ryan Hassani (Patrick Sabongui, “The Flash”), Shane Florence (Josh McKenzie, “La Brea”) and Jennifer Morales (Sara Garcia, “Ride”).

“The Hunting Party” was created by JJ Bailey (“Echo”), who serves as the series’ co-showrunner with writer Jake Coburn (“The Endgame”). Thor Freudenthal (“Carnival Row”) directs the series, while Keto Shimizu (“DC’s Legends of Tomorrow”) writes alongside Bailey and Coburn. All four also executive produce the show.

Also starring in the series is Tobias Jelinek (“This Is Us”) as serial killer Richard Harris, who is used to introduce Bex to the secret prison. Brought in by Elizabeth Mallory (Zabryna Guevara, “New Amsterdam”) to provide an assessment of the murderer, Bex questions why she has been asked to give a profile of a dead killer. Little does she know that Harris is alive and unwell and, now on the run, is ready for a cat-and-mouse chase with the investigator.

“The longer they’re out there, the more dangerous they’re going to become,” Bex tells her team in the trailer, underlining how important it is that they find the escapees. The trailer also features shots of elaborately staged crime scenes with unnervingly posed corpses — reminiscent of the work of serial killer Hannibal Lecter, portrayed by Mads Mikkelsen (“Casino Royale,” 2006), in NBC’s beloved horror series “Hannibal.” “Highly intelligent malignant narcissists,” Bex calls the inmates they’re searching for. They are the most sophisticated and hard to pin down of all the criminals, unless of course the searching is being done by a team made up exclusively of elites like Bex.

Red chair rivalries: ‘The Voice’ returns with new coaches and new singers for Season 27

“Set to be a spectacle” (per NBC), Season 27 of the Emmy-winning singing competition “The Voice” returns Monday, Feb. 3, on NBC — before stream ing the next day on Peacock — offering a revamped coaching lineup, stellar blind auditions and a new pack of singers ready to make an impression.

This season, the coaching panel will feature “The Voice” veterans and newcomers alike, each bringing their own expertise as a powerhouse in the music industry. Returning to their chairs are coaches John Legend (“All of Me”) and Michael Bublé (“Everything”) — the latter of whom earned his first win in Season 26, alongside singer Sofronio Vasquez — who welcome back Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine (“Memories”) after his six-year hiatus from the show.

First announcing his return for Season 27 on Instagram, Levine told his fans: “Season 27, yes, I’m coming back; I’m so excited. I cannot wait. I’m well rested. I’m ready to go. I’m a little nervous — I’m not nervous — but I’m so excited. It’s going to be great, and I can’t wait. It’s going to be awesome, let’s go! Team Adam is back!” Cheekily, he added: “I feel bad for other teams.”

John Legend returns to judge “The Voice”

One coach, however, won’t be returning for this next round of competition. The ever-popular actress and singer Reba McEntire (“Reba”) has made her exit from “The Voice” after appearing on seasons 24 to 26, earning herself a win in Season 24 when contestant Asher HaVon stole the show. Now, Reba’s cowboy boots will be filled by another country sensation, singer Kelsea Ballerini (“Cowboys Cry Too”), who makes her debut as a coach after serving as a substitute for Kelly Clarkson (“Because Of You”) during the show’s 20th season. Ahead of last season, host Carson Daly (“Last Call with Carson Daly”) spoke with Awards Radar, sharing a sentiment that still rings true. “People thought [The Voice] was never gonna work, and not only did it work, but it’s lasted for 25 seasons,” he said. “So I think that’s really the crazy part ... we’ve been able to keep an audience interested, and tweak the show and let the format evolve by adding steals and those little features that kind of make it exciting again. Every time it’s on, it feels fresh.”

Will it be Legend, Bublé, Levine or Ballerini who takes the crown? Tune in for Season 27 of “The Voice,” starting Monday, Feb. 3, on NBC.

Hearty and homegrown: Kardea Brown packs

flavor into ‘Delicious Miss Brown’

Prepare to feast as a brand-new episode of “Delicious Miss Brown” comes to Food Network this Sunday, Feb. 2, offering some fresh and fabulous new recipes to try at home.

Born and raised on the sea islands of Charleston, South Carolina — the self-proclaimed heart of all Southern cooking — host Kardea Brown (“Spring Baking Championship”) picked up plenty of delicious, hearty family recipes while learning to cook in her grandmother’s kitchen. Now grown and with a Sea Island home of her own, Kardea not only has decades of experience up her sleeve, but countless family recipes ready to be shared with family, friends and us hungry viewers at home, each paying homage to Southern cuisine.

This week, Kardea plans to throw a garden party for her closest girlfriends and invites us to join in on the fun. In an episode showcasing locally grown ingredients, she prepares mouth-watering dishes like creamy leek and steak pasta and low country style shrimp toasts with house pickled okra, then serves mixed berry crumble and white sangria for a little taste of something sweet afterwards.

The deliciousness doesn’t end there. So far, Season 10 has boasted delicious recipes suitable for any season, from summer veggie pasta salad to Korean-inspired fried chicken wings, served with kimchi fried rice and spicy cucumber salad. In next week’s episode — airing Sunday, Feb. 9 — Kardea even leans into laziness, utilizing ingredients from her freezer and pantry on a night

bestof ...

Kardea Brown hosts “Delicious Miss Brown”

she lacks the energy to cook. As Food Network describes, “she uses some prepared items to make a full, fresh, delicious and hearty meal with a salad bar salad, chicken pot pie stuffed biscuit cups, corn soufflé with jalapenos, and semi-homemade chocolate and caramel shortbread bars.”

When she’s not cooking on “Delicious Miss Brown,” Kardea can be found sharing her love for food on a variety of shows, including “Cooks vs. Cons,” “Family Food Showdown” and “Farmhouse Rules.” Kardea has also created the popular pop-up New Gullah Supper Club and has authored her first cookbook, “The Way Home: A Celebration of Sea Islands Food and Family with over 100 Recipes,” both paying tribute to the dishes that her grandmother and mother passed down to her. Offering an abundance of sweet treats, sides and main dishes that delight, “Delicious Miss Brown” continues with a brand-new episode, airing Sunday, Feb. 2, on Food Network.

BEST WARREN BEATTY MOVIES

“Bonnie and Clyde” (1967): Beatty made huge strides with this iconic retelling of the crime spree of Depression-era gangsters Bonnie Parker (Faye Dunaway) and Clyde Barrow (Beatty). Turner Classic Movies shows the film Monday, Feb. 3, as part of a night showcasing “Oscar Worthy Criminals.”

“$ (Dollars)” (1971): Beatty has evident fun in writer-director Richard Brooks’s caper as a security expert who teams with a prostitute (Goldie Hawn) to rob a West German bank.

“Shampoo” (1975): Producer and co-writer Beatty is terrific as a hairdresser who services female clients in other ways than just giving them new looks, putting him in hot water when he’s among several of them at a party on the eve of the 1968 presidential election.

“Heaven Can Wait” (1978): Beatty produced, co-directed (with co-star Buck Henry), co-wrote (with Elaine May) and stars in this delightful fantasy-comedy, in which a pro football player taken to the afterlife before his time is restored to Earth in a millionaire’s body.

“Dick Tracy” (1990): Bringing comic-strip visuals to dazzling life, Beatty plays the legendary police detective — alongside such co-stars as Madonna and Al Pacino — in an action-comedy that he also produced and directed.

“Bugsy” (1991): Arguably Beatty’s biggest takeaway from playing mobster Bugsy Siegel was his real-life wife, since he later married his leading lady, Annette Bening (who portrays Siegel’s girlfriend, Virginia Hill).
