banquettes, features a spectacular 1,228.5 pound Atlantic Blue Marllin. Caught in August of 2008 by Trey Irvine aboard the Mimi, the fish holds the North Carolina state record. The impressive catch embodies The Grand Marlin’s promise ‑ an experience between time and tide, an experience like no other.

The Grand Marlin With views of Santa Rosa Sound and sunsets over Pensacola Bay, The Grand Marlin offers a tranquil, relaxed atmosphere, paired with the area’s best selection of fresh seafood highlighted by delectable, daily specials from the kitchen of award winning Chef Gregg McCarthy. The restaurant boasts the area’s best stocked, most tempting oyster bar where the finest oysters, from Apalachicola and East Bay to more exotic locales, are shucked to order. For those in the mood for something other than seafood we offer enticing steaks, succulent poultry dishes and other fare to meet your every taste. The Grand Marlin offers a full bar and an intriguing 80-plus bottle wine list, chosen to compliment any dish while presenting exceptional value. Inspired by the quality and beauty of one of the world’s strongest game fish, the intricately designed dining room, with its barrelvault ceiling and comforable

Taking its name from an underwater canyon north of St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands, one of the world’s premier billfish fishing grounds, The North Drop Bar brings a touch of the Caribbean to the shores of beautiful Santa Rosa Sound. Try one of our signature cocktails, like a Blue Marlin Martini or a Ginger Rum Cooler, while sitting back and listening to live music. Whether you desire an ice cold North Drop Ale, the best Mandarin Mango Mojito under the sun, or a glass of our carefully selected wine, the North Drop Bar will satisfy in a unique, comfortable and fun atmosphere. And did we mention the view? With the ever changing light on Santa Rosa Sound, the sunsets over Pensacola Bay or the sparkling lights of Pensacola Beach at night, patrons of the North Drop Bar have a ringside seat to the finest show in town. Come as you are. It’s the beach after all. Relax. Kick off your flip-flops. Take a tour of our Caribbean inspired “tall” drinks. Or simply sit back and relax, cocktail in hand, and enjoy the gentle breeze.

Paddy O’Leary’s Irish Pub Paddy O’leary’s Irish Pub opened in March of 2000 and still remains the only Irish pub on Pensacola Beach. Gary Humphrey and Seamas Hunt got the inspiration to open the pub after a trip to Ireland and decided to keep with the traditional Irish pub look of incorporating a lot of wood and a hand-crafted bar. Paddy’s is the only pub in the area to have Guinness on tap and they will guarantee the perfect pour every time. Make sure to grab yourself an Irish Carbomb or the Iriash take on a favorite beach classic, the Paddywhacker. Paddy’s has live mjusic every Friday and Saturday featuring some of the best bands in town. You can catch the Full Monte there every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month from 4pm-8pm as well as Karaoke on Monday and Tuesday noights and Open-Mic on Wednesday nights. Sláinte!

John Hart Project Florida based artist John Hart is an acclaimed guitar player all along the East Coast and Gulf Coast. Leading up to his creation of John Hart Project, John spent a few years touring the East Coast with the prominent Sauce Boss. The warm, rich tones of John’s classical guitar playing approach brings an exciting and fresh presence to his live show, while his unique weaving of finger picking and blues influence brings a flavor to the sound like no other. Revered as a young man beyond his time, John’s influences come from a mix of blues legends such as Muddy Waters, B.B. King and Albert Collins, to rock legends Jimi Hendrix and Duane Allman to modern monsters such as Derek Trucks and John Mayer. His latest record, “Frisson”, shines an entirely new light on the depths of his creativity and his reach.

SAFETY

RIP CURRENTS

Rip currents can be hazardous to even the strongest swimmers who are caught in a rip and who do not understand what is going on, and who may not have the necessary water skills, may panic, or exhaust themselves by trying to swim directly against the flow of water. If caught in a rip current, DO NOT PANIC! To escape a rip current – swim parallel to the shore, do not try to swim against the current. If the current is too strong, let it carry you farther away from shore. It will eventually weaken. Then swim back to shore at an angle away from the current.

BEACH WARNING FLAGS

DOUBLE RED: Water Closed

RED: High hazard, high surf and/or strong currents

YELLOW: Medium hazard, moderate surf and/or currents

GREEN: Low hazard, calm conditions, exercise caution

The National Naval Aviation Museum The National Naval Aviation Museum is located aboard Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida, the Cradle of Naval Aviation. Established in 1914, NAS Pensacola is the oldest naval air station, and all Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard aviators and Naval Flight Officers pass through her gates. NAS Pensacola also serves as the home base for the world-famous Blue Angels Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron. There are biplanes of the Great War, record-setters, experimental platforms and survivors of epic aerial battles. In service they splashed through Pacific swells, slammed down on the pitching decks of aircraft carriers, flew through hails of gunfire and blasted to the stars. The National Naval Aviation Museum features over 150 beautifully restored aircraft, including rare and one-of-a-kind flying machines such as the NC-4 (first to cross the Atlantic by air), SBD Dauntless Bureau Number 2106 (a veteran of the Battle of Midway), the Que Sera Sera (first aircraft to land at the South Pole), the last combat F-14D Tomcat, and many, many more.

Aragon Wine Market with

Charlotte Gordon At Aragon Wine Market, we’ve always focused on wine education as well as customer service. Since we first opened, we decided that we would hold weekly wine tastings for our customers to sample different wines as well as learn from the experience. We usually have 5-6 different wines to sample poured by a knowledgeable wine expert to answer any questions the customer may have. The wine tastings are a great opportunity to learn while you have fun. The store organically evolved into a place for people to come

enjoy a glass of wine. Whether it’s after sampling the wine tasting line-up or just stopping by after work, customers love to sit and relax with a delicious glass-or bottle- of wine. We have a lovely courtyard which is a fantastic place to linger over a nice bottle of your favorite wine.

Rusted Arrow Mercantile 130 Palafox Pl (850) 465-3622

Our special events are not to miss. Quarterly, we have a themed event at the wine store. These events vary, but always guarantee a good time and unique wines. This events are by reservation and usually sell out quickly so keep your eye out for the next one.

-ART GALLERIESQuayside Art Gallery 17 Zaragoza St (850) 438-2363

We pride ourselves on customer service, so if there’s something special you are looking for in wine, don’t hesitate to ask us.

Panzacola with

Jordan Richards What band/bands are you currently playing with? I’m currently playing out with my band Panzacola, as well as a lot of solo shows around the area. When and where did you start playing music? I found a 1942 Gibson acoustic in my grandfathers closet as a young kid and would play around on it when I visited my grandparents. My grandfather noticed and bought me my first guitar for Christmas in 4th grade. I preformed one of the most simplified/shakiest versions of “Greensleeves” ever preformed for my 5th grade talent show and have not looked back since. What is your favorite style/ genre to play? Being in a sorta southern indie/psych rock band, I think

we’ve found more interesting results covering songs outside of our obvious influences. Lately we’ve been really enjoying covering Hip Hop and R&B songs. Any recordings / TV spots that you have done? Our debut album “The New Holy Grail” is out now on iTunes, Spotify, and other digital retailers. We’ll also be preforming on WSRE’s “Studio Amped” later this fall. What is a website or online source where people could watch or listen to you? You can follow Panzacola at Facebook.com/Panzacolamusic and Instagram.com/ Panzacolamusic What are some upcoming shows for the month of August in the Pensacola Downtown or Beach areas? You can catch us on Pensacola Beach August 24th & 25th at The Islander, and downtown Pensacola at Seville Quarter August 31 & September 1st.

get those products locally at shops like Gary’s Homebrew Supply. With a few simple steps and a little time, I can create a 5-10 gallon batch of any beer style I want. The time for brewing to filling your glass ranges from 2-3 weeks for something simple like a pale ale to 8 months (minimum) for an imperial stout or barley wine. You can add adjuncts, such are fruit, rice, oatmeal, wheat, to a beer for additional characteristics and flavor.

focused on home brewing as a common foundation. • Learn about beer, beer tasting, beer styles, beer judging and brewing techniques based on shared knowledge and experience. • Promote the hobby and enjoyment of home brewing. • Drink better beer.

The Emerald Coast Homebrewers Club Who are the Escambia Bay Homebrewers Club? The Escambia Bay Homebrew Club was founded in the Spring of 1985. The club’s mission is to further educate ourselves in the art of making fine adult beverages and to share the art of making these beverages with others that are interested in learning. We also strive to engender an appreciation of fine micro brewed and imported beers, wines and adult beverages among those of us who make them. • Promote the responsible use of alcoholic beverages. • Engage in enjoyable social activities

How did the Emerald Coast Beer Festival Begin? A group of local home brewers decided to meet up, share beers and knowledge regarding beer brewing. In the mid-90s area home brewers and craft beer brewers decided to meet in Apple Annie’s at Seville Quarter and share beers. Now in its 23rd year, the Emerald Coast Beer Festival has become this region’s premier beverage festival highlighting regional home brew clubs, regional and national craft breweries and craft beer distributors. Sampling has also grown from just beer to include wine, mead, cider and in the VIP room only, craft distilleries. Why did you get into homebrewing? Everyone has their own reason for beginning this hobby, for me it was that I was able to use wholesome ingredients and create the exact beverage that I wanted. The four main ingredients to make beer are water, barley, hops and yeast. I can

Carmen’s Lunch Bar with MariCarmen Josephs

When did you first open? I opened Carmen’s Lunch Bar five years ago in October of 2012, after winning of the Pensacola Business Challenge. I created the concept, design and menu for Carmen’s to fit the very cozy 739 square foot space in the heart of downtown. Quint & Rishy Studer created the Pensacola Business Challenge with hopes of helping a tenant that would contribute to the revitalization of our downtown community. Where did you get the inspiration for your restaurant? The physical space actually inspired much of my concept for Carmen’s. The space is so intimate that I knew I would have to maximize seating (hence the lunch bar) and create a menu that would be fresh, delicious and easy to execute. My travels to Spain definitely influenced my menu and the design of the restaurant. At Carmen’s we serve an eclectic blend of international and Southern cuisine. I learned a lot about

What are some of your future goals? I would love to see our evenings at Carmen’s grow to be as busy as our lunches. We serve tapas, soups, salads and sliders from 4-8 pm, as well as many specials. We feature wines from all over the world and are constantly bringing in new wines for our customers to try! What makes your restaurant stand out among others? Our food is fresh, unique, delicious and consistent and the service is warm and friendly. We are also known for our expedient service during lunch rush, which is especially important for people on a work break. Our wine list by the glass is quite extensive as well, with options for the novice wine drinker to the savvy sipper. What are your favorite specials? My soups are always changing and when I make them I get to cook spontaneously, without a recipe, which I really enjoy. My favorite soup is the Creamy Cauliflower with Baby Bella Mushrooms. What events do you regularly? Carmen’s Lunch Bar is more of an everyday neighborhood bar, where regulars meet for a delicious meal and a glass of wine. Carmen’s is a bustling lunch bar by day and an atmospheric wine and tapas bar at night. We are open Monday-Saturday from 11am-8pm.
