CraigMac Presents New Year’s Eve 2014
Granting a Wish for Emma at the World Trade Centre
Tuesday December 31st 2013 at the World Trade Convention Centre to Grant Emma’s Wish!
My wish is to travel to Nickelodeon Studios to meet Dora and Diego You might remember Kayden Holmes from last year! He had a blast meeting Lightning McQueen, Mater and friends, at Disneyland!
Q&A with CraigMac So you are back to grant your 8th wish. What do boys have in store for NYE 2014? We are back at the World Trade Centre! We did three years at the Westin, three years at the World Trade Centre and last year we hosted at the Marriott Harbourfront Hotel. I decided to head back to the World Trade because I really miss having the event in the heart of the city connected to four gorgeous hotels. As you know I like to keep everything fresh and new so we have booked seven awesome DJs and Party Boots to lead our live entertainment. Who do you have playing this year? Dezza, Jules Bangsworth, DJ Freeze DJ Savory, Steve Nurse, DXS, Dekz & Party Boots (Live Entertainment) And obviously some special guests.... Read more about the DJ’s and bands on our website www.cmacnye.com
So what makes your event stand out above the rest? Everyone has heard this from me so many times before but I will keep reinforcing it. We will do everything every year to try to out-do the year before. With our New Years Event, your hotel room is at the event so you don’t have to fuss with cabs or blizzards, and you can get to the World Trade Centre from ALL the surrounding hotels/casino via underground pedways. I also make sure entrance, coat check, and bar service is fast. No one wants to wait on New Years, especially the girls in the heels. But at the core of this event is the Wish, I started this in memory of my Mom and each year, it is the Wish children that keep me inspired. It is the most unbelievable feeling standing on stage at midnight, staring at 1800 people who have all come together to make this happen.
04 | Faces Magazine | December 2013
So tell us about our Wish Child this year? Again, I like to support our local community, and so it is important that the Wish child was someone close to home. Emma Hubley hails from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. She is five years old and is very, VERY excited to meet Dora and Diego at Nickelodeon Studios. You can read more about Emma on our website: www.cmacnye.com.
Is there anything else you want us to know? This is my eighth New Year’s Eve party and every year it’s a success. You’re not taking any chances coming to this event, as it’s a guaranteed good time. You get to party with all your friends in a sleek location, with good music, tasty drinks, and BEST OF ALL, you get to be part of Granting a Wish for Emma Hubley. Don’t miss out.

healthy living
Healthy Living BY RICKY GOODALL
Are cheat meals important? Our bodies are amazing machines and do their best to adapt to their environment to remain efficient. When dieting we often find ourselves in a calorie deficit and a product of this is low leptin levels. Leptin is a hormone that regulates hunger, food intake and energy expenditure. It’s responsible for telling your brain that you’re receiving enough food so it can keep your metabolism firing. When our diets are low in calories
our leptin levels will drop and cause us to feel hungry, low in energy and have intense cravings. This is a sign of our metabolism slowing down. The best way to spike leptin levels back to a healthy level is to ingest a high carbohydrate meal 1-2 times per week. Leptin is highly responsive to glucose and one meal can easily get you back on track. Be sure to drink lots of water to avoid water retention, eat a side salad to avoid bloating and supplement with glucose disposal agents such as R-ALA to maximize nutrient uptake. -Ricky Goodall Pro MMA Fighter & Certified Nutrition Coach Collision Sports (902) 452-9260 (888) 930-5742 (toll free) ricky@collisionsports.ca http://www.collisionsports.ca
Looking to gain muscle, lose fat or eat for performance? Certified Nutrition Coach Ricky Goodall is accepting new clients and offering no set up fee and no tax for the month of October. Plans start as low as $25 per week and include: • Meal timings and portions sizes • Instructions for a cleanse • Supplement suggestions • Recipes • Discounts at Collision Sports
All coaching is completely customized based on your goals, your preferences and your lifestyle. Many diets tell you so-called “rules” but seldom tell you what your body needs. For more information contact: info@collisionsports.ca | 902-452-9260 | www.CollisionSports.ca

on the big cities in pursuing a career in acting. His most recent role was as Nick Sorrentino, a werewolf in the TV show “Bitten” airing on Syfy and Space in Winter 2014. “Bitten” is the TV adaptation of the best-selling novel series by Canadian author Kelley Armstrong. The series takes place in Toronto, Ontario and Upstate New York and revolves around

Lund Lunges into the Big Leagues By Katie Conklin
dream fell through following a serious injury preventing him from playing the sport competitively. This is when he decided to move to Vancouver and begin his acting career. He attended the Vancouver Film School’s Acting Program, where he had his first acting job, starring on a web series as Stewart on Yukonic!. Since then, he has played roles in Syfy’s “Haven”, CBC’s “Being Erica”, Spike’s “Blue Mountain State” and more. Lund is currently on his way to New York City to take some more acting classes and continue to learn the art of acting, but is still actively auditioning and looking for work. Lund explains to me why most auditions take place during this season, “I had an audition yesterday. Right now, are the early stages of “pilot season”, mainly taking place in January and February. This is when networks start their casting process. Every network will have three or four new shows trying to make into series. This is when the highest amount of work is available and the highest amount of actors are in the city or auditioning”.
I called him as he was driving through the New York interstate with a fellow actor. Steve explains he had always wanted to be an actor, ever since watching Indiana Jones back when he was kid, “I remember the first time I watched Indiana Jones I knew that was what I wanted to do. I was 4 or 5 years old telling other kids I wanted to be an actor and now, 20 years later, I still idolize that guy and hope to play a role like that someday,” says Lund. However, Lund’s career didn’t start off as one would think. Initially Lund was pursuing a career in Hockey. This
What has been your favorite role so far? I really liked being on that show Haven, because I got to come home. It was amazing to be able to shoot down in Chester. In that role I played character named the Colorado kid. In the show my character was always mentioned but was never introduced, it was like folklore to the audience. Finally it surfaces that the son of the main character is in town, which is the Colorado Kid. It was cool to play that role, and be the character that finally comes to life. If you could choose, who is one actor you would really want to work with?
Marlon Brando. He is one of the most famous male actors of all time!
mean, fame and fortune is a common answer, but it’s to be able to take a leap - something to be respected for I think. When I meet people and I tell them I’m an actor, it’s a mutual understanding that it’s a tough career. It’s a matter of finding the smallest victories.
Who has been your favorite Coworker? I’m going to have to go with Laura Vandervoort. She’s a lovely girl. We played on screen husband and wife in Haven and now she’s our main character on “Bit”. She’s super fun, super funny, like a big sister to me.
PROFILE
What role would you love to play that you haven’t yet? Indiana Jones. I also want to be John MacLean (Bruce Willis from Die Hard).
Nick Name Lunder struck Age 24
If you weren’t acting, what do you think your occupation would be? Gynecologist
Birthday January 9, 1989
What is the scariest part of an audition? Everything. Auditions are horrifying. Its funny, my friend and I are reading a book right now, titled “Audition”. It’s something you never really get over, its just the most terrifying experience. To have to stand in a specific spot in front people who judge your every move. Its very exposing. All you want to do is impress these people and you want to yield to them in every way. The struggle is trying to achieve a balance but reverse the role and take charge. You need to own your moment.
Celebrity Crush Olivia Wild Favorite Food Chicken Wings Favorite Beverage McAuslan Apricot Beer
Is there a particular role that got away? A role you really wanted, but wasn’t cast in? A million of them! But, there is a movie that will be coming out soon, a movie called “Turk”. That’s the nick name for Derek Sanderson, a hockey player for the Boston Bruins. He played with Bobby Orr when they won back to back Stanley Cups in the 70’s. So I auditioned for the role of Turk, who was a very notorious alcoholic, drug addict, a real bad boy in the hockey world. He went from being the highest paid hockey player to sleeping in central park. He’s now 20 years sober and is a motivational speaker around the world. It’s a really cool story and I really wanted the part, but, I didn’t’ get it. What’s the best part of being an actor? It’s a great life. I think, feeling proud of being embraced is the most rewarding part about this career. I

ARIES This is an important day for relationships, but don’t start discussing matters of right and wrong. Opinions differ.
PISCES Friends and loved ones seem reasonable on the surface, but somehow you feel at odds with them. You don’t want to be constricted by rules.
AQUARIUS New horizons open up today, but there can also be cultural tensions and difference in views and personal taste.
CAPRICORN There is creative tension at work today as people argue for their convictions and try to maintain a balance between differing views.
SAGITTARIUS This is a dynamic day socially, but despite your sensitivity to the needs of others, there can be opposing interests today.
SCORPIO This is basically an improved period for friendships and relationships generally, but other people may be sensitive about matters of principle.
You are sensitive about family and relationship duties, and insist on fairness. It is probably a good idea to relax the rules a bit.
VIRGO You need to find a balance when sharing your resources or spending, especially in relation to the needs of children and social demands.
LEO It is worth thinking about an exciting adventure for today or tomorrow. Make sure you have got working relationships agreed upon.
CANCER There is a big emphasis on home and family. In partnership matters it is important not to get into discussions of principle.
GEMINI In love, you will have to use persuasive techniques today and get round rules and regulations. With kids, you can be tough but fair.
TAURUS You have a definite idea about how things need to be done, and basically people are going to have to agree with your opinion today.
