Taj Mahal... The Architecture of Love

In order to construct this gorgeous architectural masterpiece, Shah Jahan brought the most qualified architects and technicians from Baghdad and Turkey, The gardens designers from Kashmir and calligraphers from Shiraz.

Before it had become a symbol of the Seven Wonders, it is a symbol of pure love and eternal loyalty. On each of its alabaster stones, a lasting love story of all time was inscribed. That is why Indians like to call it “Alabaster Poem”. Nehru said: “this is not a grave; it is a song of Alabaster”. Tagore, the great Indian poet, described it as a “Teardrop on the cheek of eternity”. It is the Palace of Taj Mahal, the magnificent architecture masterpiece, which efficiently predated the deep-rooted Islamic history in India. Taj Mahal building dates back to the reign of emperor Shah Jahan, one of the Mughal emperors, who ordered its construction in the city of Agra, the capital of Mughal Muslim sultans. Shah Jahan constructed this huge palace in honor of his beautiful wife and life partner “Mumtaz Mahal” whom he loved so much, and was so heartbroken after her death in 1630 that he decided to construct the most beautiful tomb that a human eye has ever behold. From 1631 to 1653, approximately 22,000 workers and engineers worked to complete this immortal edifice, which was built of white marble and on which verses from the Holy Quran were inscribed in black. The mausoleum stands on a square platform with a circular lighthouse on each side. To the right, a small mosque was built and to the left a building was erected and called “Jawab”. The building was established to make a balance with the (Mosque) in the general shape of the shrine. No prayers are performed in the Mosque because it is not on the direction of al-Qiblah. Prayers are performed in another mosque that is located on the left. In the middle of the building, there is a large square and a grass-abundant garden with lanes paved with stones of marble. Watercourses that bring water from the river are crosscut by a complex network of reservoirs and underground pipes that also feed water fountains. In the square, there is a long water pool that reflects the shrine. The walls of the building are adorned and decorated by precious stones, Garnet, sunflowers and turquoise stones in a wonderful assortment that dazzles sights and take away the brains. This is the palace, tomb or poem of Taj Mahal that invites you to visit it to stand in the presence of true love, which we have almost lost nowadays. Truly, a universal masterpiece that is worth a visit and a special tourist experience that is worth trying. Former US President Bill Clinton said after his visit to Taj Mahal: “the world could be divided into two sections. In the one section there are those who are lucky enough to have visited the Taj Mahal. In the other section there are those who still have to visit the Taj Mahal. 9

Glass Beach... When Nature Corrects Human Mistakes A unique beach in California, not because nature made it that way, but because time and the pounding surf have corrected one of the man’s mistakes. In the early 20th century, Fort Bragg residents threw their household garbage over the cliffs above what is now Glass Beach. It is hard to imagine this happening today, but back then people dumped all kinds of refuse straight into the ocean, including old cars, and their household garbage, which of course included lots of glass. Beginning in 1949, the area around Glass Beach became a public dump, and locals referred to it as “The Dumps”. However, in 1967, the city leaders closed the area. Over the next several decades, the pounding waves cleaned the beach, wearing down the discarded glass into the small, smooth, colored trinkets that cover the beach today.

Weitomo… The Glowworm Cave

Configuration of Quills... Eye of the Desert of Mauritania Configuration of Quills or what is known as the “eye of the desert”, located in the northern desert of Mauritania, is one of the wonders of nature that scientists could not figure out the reason of its configuration yet. It is a collection of concentric sticking out circles of a diameter of 40-50 km, easily visible from space as it is surrounded by thousands of miles of the vast free of milestones Sahara. There is still scientific debate about what it is; some scientists say it is a hole caused by a meteor that struck this area and some say it is an old extinct volcano. It is still a mystery baffling scientists until now. 10

This mysterious cave is located in the town of Weitomo on the North Island of New Zealand. It is a famous tourist attraction because of the large number of glowing worms that live inside, a kind of worms that are only found in New Zealand. Surprisingly, this charming light of worms is just a way for killing! The female flies to lay eggs on the roof of the dark cave. Once hatched, the larvae sticks downward by an adhesive thread producing visible light in the dark to attract insects from other species to enter into the adhesive thread tape to be devoured by the glowworm larvae.

Machu Picchu… The ancient city of the Inca Empire “Machu Picchu,” is its name, located in Peru, the Latin continent filled with magic and mystery, with forests of bananas, cinnamon and cloves. In “Inca” language, the name means old mountaintop; a city hanging between two steep mountains of Andes, at an altitude of 2340 meters above sea level. On both sides, there is a huge abyss with its bottom about 600 meters down. A gushing river runs underneath and tall trees grow all around. Its way down is winding, passing through the middle of the mountain, surrounded by a belt of woodland, following the route up to where “Machu Picchu” is. The city dazzles the eye with its streets, swimming pools, irrigation canals and lush gardens and extraordinary beautiful and miraculous buildings. An architectural and engineering masterpiece established from massive stones stacked over each other delicately, stirring puzzlement and pride of the human capacity to innovate in rocks and stones. 11

Hani Rice Terraces... 2000 years of agriculture The Hani people’s ancestors came to this steep mountain area 2000 years ago. In their struggle against the difficult terrain they successfully established the terraces, where they grew rice in order to make a living. The technology of developing fertile land on rugged mountain slopes didn’t spread all over China and Southeast Asia until 14th century. The creativity of the Hani people turned this mountain area into one of artistic beauty. In recognition, the Ming Dynasty emperor granted the title of ‘Skillful Sculptor’ to Hani people and their good reputation was passed down from generation to generation. At present, known as ‘land sculpture’ the terraced fields have been being officially acknowledged by UNESCO as a World Cultural and Natural Heritage site. Yuanyang Rice Terraces, Honghe, Yunnan Hani terraced fields are magnificent and on a largescale. They extend to many towns along the south bank of the Red River, such as Yuanyang, Lüchun and Jinping among others. With an area of more than 28,005.3 acres, the terrace in Yuanyang County is regarded as the core area of Hani terraces as the county is mountainous and the terraces built on the hillsides have a slope varying from 15 degrees to 75 degrees. The terraces rise by 3,000 steps forming a landscape that is rare both at home and abroad. In the main, the Yuanyang Hani terraces form three major scenic areas: Duoyishu scenic area, Bada scenic area and Laohuzui (the Tiger Mouth) scenic area. So many terraces set among vast forests, topped by an ocean of clouds create a magical, magnificent view. 12

Maldives Alona - Ukrain if you are not that lazy and like to see different places, then Maldives is exactly for you

16

Close your eyes and lean back. Listen to the sounds of ocean, the light breeze cuddles you with the flavor of salty air and tender sunshine - it is the place of peace, its Maldives. As many of us, I was overload at work and busy life… I needed to clear my mind and take a breath. The flight and hotel stay for 3 days and 4 nights in Public Island Hulhumale I booked through one of the local travel agencies with their special online offer. Probably you will think what you will do in this place as long as you might search for this famous Maldivian beach, torques water and diving adventure. I will ensure you that if you are not that lazy and like to see different places, then this option is exactly for you and I will explain you why.

The first day I decided to visit a small island located not far from Hulhumale. I believe that all of us googled some pictures of the cozy beaches covered in the shadow of coconut palms and mesmerizing views of the ocean. I would say that the most part of all these pictures are without any Photoshop - everything looks the same and in some moments, you even cannot believe: “I’m here. I’m in paradise?!” One more thing you would wonder about what to do if you are not a diver but you would like to see the beauty of the underwater life. Just put the snorkeling mask on and dip your head in the place wherever you are staying (even not swimming!) in the sea. You will amazed by the abundance of colorful corals around you and variety of water inhabitants. By the way, the fish might be extremely friendly with you if you would try to feed them with some bread; they will surround you and will not be afraid to eat from your hands. The next day I have booked a trip to the luxurious resort located on a private island. It was exactly the place what we use to create in our mind dreaming about Maldives: the row of bungalows in the water, hidden villas here and there in the tropical greenery, shaded beach with the softest coral sand in the world, nice food, cocktails and a lot of activities which will make you busy all day long. The last day, I decided to see local the life was moving around Male. The capital of the paradise is overcrowded especially during the pick time. You literally will have some trouble to move on the streets: people are running, everyone in hurry... and a lot of small motorbikes - it’s the main transport which you can see everywhere. However, need to mention, the majority of all Maldivians can speak English and even if they are in hurry they are always happy to help. My short getaway came to the end and with nice tan and refreshed mind; I was ready to go back. What I would like to add – I will definitely go there again for the similar trip with the stay in a small hotel and a great chance to visit different places. For sure, I would recommend it for those who need a bit of adventure, like nature, summer and sea-world.

Bicaz Canyon Marcella - Romania the Road turns and twist uphill for 5 km and narrows so much at a point called “The Neck of Hell”

Searching for a place to run from the heat of the summer and the noise of the big city, I ended up in Bicaz Canyon, considered one of the most breathtaking of the world and located in the northeast part of Romanian Carpathian. The gorge was dug by the waters of Bicaz River and its part of a National Park along with the Red Lake and the Hasmasu Mare Mountain. The road of the gorge is turns and twist uphill for 5 km and narrows so much at a certain point called The Neck of Hell. A real climbing paradise for those looking for adrenaline in between the deep crackers, clear faces or spectacular ceilings. While the less adventurous companions can enjoy the picturesque of the route… In addition, if you are brave to take the unmarked routes in the forests, do not be surprised to see a deer running! Going further, I encountered the Red Lake,

a natural piece of architecture in the beautiful land of Dracula. Located at 980 m altitude, this natural beauty offers to the tourist a place to enjoy a discovering trip by boat while listening to different legends created around this mysterious site. There is something magic about the place, amplified by the empty trunks of old trees crossing the purple reflection of the Little Suhard Mountain in the lake... Surrounded by mountains covered by large forests, with a cool weather most of the year, it is going to be a relaxing spot with plenty of health benefits. Traditional Romanian dishes will wait for you once you decided to take a break; and before going forward towards new lands to discover, you can take with you souvenirs made by the craftsmen from this area to remind you that once you visited a part of Heaven. 17

Paris Evita, Latvia

Although I’ve always wanted to travel to Europe more than elsewhere, Paris has never crossed my mind. Movies created this fairytale of Paris being the city of romance. They however failed to show the busy and expensive side of the city. I had a whole new perspective after my experience there last summer though. Paris charm appeared first when I decided to stay in non-popular tourist area. I stayed at a small hotel close to Saint Germain Boulevard. The hotel services were excellent from cozy rooms and bathrooms to having an amazing view on popular bars and cafes. The Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Notre-Dame Cathedral, and Arc De Triomphe — were definitely worth seeing. There, you must walk down the small lively streets of Paris, chill in random cafes on the streets, taste exquisite French wine, and chat to Parisians –the fact that Parisians are arrogant and unfriendly is just stereotypical by the way. Eventually, I found Paris very romantic and sensual.. I knew that nothing could ruin my mood whether the sun is shining or not. I loved every bit of it. 18

Sri Lanka Michelle - USA

When I think of all the things I like to do on a vacation, it is hard to find the perfect destination to do everything that I want. My ideal vacation involves, beach and relaxation, hiking or doing something outdoorsy, shopping, eating delicious food, sightseeing and experiencing new cultures. Sri Lanka offers a lot more than just this. Seeking adventure, we climbed Lion’s Rock in Sigiriya and hiked in the Sinharaja Rainforest. There are so many landscapes to see and opportunities to learn about this new culture. Our adventure there included The Golden Temple in Dambulla, The Temple of the Tooth and dance performances in Kandy. Finally, the trip ended with some relaxing time by the beach in Bentota. A week is enough for a quick trip in this beautiful country. Hire a driver to get you from one place to the other. Although the rides can be long, lush scenery and stopping to shop and eat delicious meals. 19

Istanbul - Turkey

Northern Ireland A car, a map and a desire to find out where the road leads is all that’s needed for a journey into the mythical landscapes, the rich culture and the most authentic experiences of Northern Ireland. Bringing something inviting and new at every turn of the wheel, the Causeway Coastal Route runs from Belfast to Derry Londonderry, wonderful bookends to the world-renowned attractions like the Giants Causeway, the Gobbins Cliff Path and Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge that lie on the road between. Wild coastal roads bordered by majestic cliffs, mile upon mile of golden sand, surf and solitude, and the scenery of the nine Glens of Antrim, this is one of the most heavenly road trips anywhere. Northern Ireland is called Game of Thrones Territory for good reason and is home to iconic locations like Castle Black, Winterfell and the Haunted Forest, to name three. In the past few years, fans have been coming to Northern Ireland in droves to explore these incredible locations and take part in the experiences available there.

Divided between two continents Istanbul is beyond doubt one of the world’s great cities! A buzzing entertainment scene, live music venues, electrifying clubs, galleries and a plethora of shops, this city leaves today’s hedonists wanting for nothing. The skyline is a seamless blend of two opposite worlds; oriental minarets and domes rule the old quarter while the flashing lights of the Beyoglua beckon prowling night revellers. Africa

YOU AND THE GORILLA TOGETHER IN THE WOODS Among dozens of experiences to see wildlife in Africa, meeting mountain gorillas in their natural habitat is the best thing you can do every day. With enough calm, you can become part of their own world, no barriers between you and them. You will not have to stare through binoculars to watch them, but on this trip, only you and the Gorilla together in the Woods.

Many sympathized with the male Gorilla “Harambee” who was recently killed in the wake of the incident that took place at a park in the United States, after a boy fell into the gorilla enclosure and zoo workers had to kill the gorilla to protect the boy. For thousands of years, the relationship between humans and gorillas was described as mutual fear and aggression. That is not true. Researchers note that there had been no attack by gorillas on humans in these zoos before. They also stated that the gorillas are rarely violent and humans have always been blamed for that because of their misconduct. Gorillas are always peaceful and do not have any bad feelings for human beings, even though humans are their number one enemy and the main reason for their possible extinction as a result of overhunting and stealing their babies to be trapped in zoos everywhere or being killed by African farmers to keep them away from their crops. Only a small number of this giant animal still exist, estimated at only 900 gorillas; the only inhabitants of the Earth now. There are few places in Africa where you can see these gorillas closely. The chance to see gorillas varies from place to another. In Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon and Angola, your chances to see them are few. They basically inhabit two main areas of East Africa; the first area is located on the volcanic Virunga mountains distributed to three nature reserves, namely the Virunga Park in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Maghingha in southwest of Uganda and Volkinos in North Western Rwanda, the second area is the National Bioindi Zoo in Uganda, which is home to half the

world’s population of mountain gorillas. The journey starts with a gradual ascent through open fields to reach the entrance of the rainforest. It is a relatively long and arduous journey that requires physical fitness to make you able to climb mountains and slopes for several hours. You will not be bored on your way up, you would be rather happy with the views of that volcanic peaks on the road accompanied by little animals and watching rare birds living in these regions in Africa. These animals live in groups controlled by a dominant male of the type known as “silver back gorilla” who has no peer in leading the group, accompanied by a group of females and youngsters. He is the one who guides them to the places of appropriate food throughout the year. Therefore, they are always on the move from one place to another. Due to the density of tree leaves, it is not easy to see these animals. If you are lucky enough, within a few hours you will be able to see them over the tops of trees eating or playing with their young while the huge male laying away trying to take a break away from the hustle and bustle of children. It is important to follow the rules and be aware of the manners of gorillas and the way of living in this environment. If they suspect the you act, they would leave the place and go away. The best times of year to track the mountain gorilla are between June and September, the trip is a bit expensive, it costs almost $ 500 in Uganda, and $ 750 in Rwanda, in addition to the cost of the tour itself, ranging from 300 to 500 dollars based on the number of the group and timing of the visit.

There is a variety of companies offering the Gorilla trekking and here is the best:

BREATHE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE

Shy sun obscured behind a light hazy screen, outlined by light drizzles sneaking from Nile-like blue sky, drawing on its mountains and valleys a natural portrait that fills the hearts with joy and gives hearts warmness. Flat land surrounded by vegetable mountains, setting a foot on a silver beach and the other foot is tickled by blue waves. On both ends, there are cereal and banana plantations, its buildings and coconut trees embrace; springs and a nature if distributed to the Arabic desert, it would turn it to ever greenness. Palm Anantara has gained its advantage from the genius design and wonderful gardens, its villas and rooms, which give a different meaning to accommodation. It is directly connected to the artificial lakes covering a huge area of land of the resort. It has unique villas built above the water surface; one of its kind in the Middle East, having frontages of transparent glass to provide pleasant views and sights of charming Dubai, in addition to the use of spaces artistically and elements that have made the place full of life, where guests would not feel weary or bored. Just as Thailand is known as the land of smiles, as a metaphor for people’s kindness and generosity, the service crew does not only provide quality service with smiling faces, but they also know how to manage dialogue with guests. I do not know if they have received training by hotel management, or there are certain criteria for recruitment of service personnel. It is gesture I have not noticed much in other places; how the service crew makes this smile on the faces of the guests automatically and unassumingly. Palm Anantara has succeeded in bringing the Thai spirit with all its details to this little part of Dubai. Surely, you must have noticed a picture of the floating markets in Thailand such as “Damanoin Sadwak” near the capital Bangkok 42

or how local people move around. With smart touches of the resort management, they succeeded in bringing out this Thai spirit throughout the resort, such as floating boats sailing across the lakes to sell tropical drinks or the threewheeled tuk-tuk to transport guests. Travelers say that one of the best ways to learn about traditional Thai culture is to taste local food. Therefore, there was “Mekong” restaurant, which named after the legendary river in Southeast Asia, taking you on a journey rich in discoveries and flavors not only Thai but also Vietnam and Chinese. On the side of the pool, “Krisindo” offers live cooking shows throughout the day. For meat lovers, they must try “Buchman” restaurant to taste pieces of fat spicy meat coming directly from Australian farms. At sunset, you can relax in the lobby of the Lotus, listening to live music. In addition, “Beach House” offers a recreational area for shows with seafood, Shisha and DJ music. Guests can choose between a romantic table for two in a secluded place on the beach or over the buoy near water villas, or anywhere else, you would prefer within the resort. The resort also offers all modern facilities to its guests including relaxation on the beach or by the swimming pools as well as plenty of water sports such as canoeing, windsurfing and traditional Thai boat trips. When you mention Thailand you must mention Thai treatments. Anantara Spa offers special sessions for health and beauty care within 28 luxurious treatment suites. Visitors can enjoy the best traditional Thai massage therapies for renewed energy, or test another unique spa treatment such as the genuine Arabian massage or the Turkish bath experience The resort has succeeded in portraying the whole picture with touches, even though simple but added a lot and completed the picture to live a different experience. With the current hotel momentum, there are few places that would have an impact on you and you would consider one of the distinctive experiences you have ever had in your whole life. As the bright Thailand smile and magical scenery entice tourists to return so many times, I promise you will come back and stay at Anantara Palm again.

Simple and quiet for summer holiday

The Hilfiger Collection is inspired by an island-hopping adventure, as the jet set crowd explores exotic locales around the world. Hollywood’s elite escape the spotlight in distant destinations, embracing off-duty style with effortless ease. The adventure begins in Honolulu, the once remote tropical island that’s today a bustling urban isle. The second stop on the tour is Havana, where a Latin vibe inspires the use of spicy earth tones and frilled details – all revisited through a fresh, modern lens. The journey ends in Martha’s Vineyard, the quintessential American East Coast summer destination.

Soft and Feminine The SS16 collection reflects the values represented by the Intropia Woman: a multicultural, diverse woman. This is an architectural, modern collection that is also soft and feminine. It is insipred by a romantic journey to India and the contrasts of urban and traditional Japan. With clean, architectural shapes, rich textures using a wide range of colours. Soft shapes, varying lengths and updated denim items that exude an air of urban cool to our young, romantic woman.

Cedar is without a doubt one of the scents that our nose recognizes most easily. Reminiscent of pencil shavings, it evokes a sense of nostalgia for school days and simpler times. Evocative of log cabins and Scandinavian furniture, cedar adds warmth to the overtly modern.
