Four-year old Zara is one of our longer term medical fosters and we’re shocked that this happygo-lucky dog has not found her forever home. Confiscated from a life tethered, Zara entered the shelter with her four puppies. Zara was heartworm positive, emaciated and was on medication for numerous infections. Healthy and ready to find her forever home, she now loves the comforts of indoor living, belly rubs and treats! Zara lives in foster care with other dogs and cats.

Vet’s Corner
Ami Burbridge, DVM Alamance Veterinary Hospital
Dr. Burbridge is a partner at Alamance Veterinary Hospital and has been part of the practice since 1998, the year of her graduation form North Carolina State College of Veterinary Medicine. She is a skilled surgeon and diagnostician that enjoys seeing cats and dogs, but the most unique skills she brings to the team is her knowledge of exotic animal medicine and her ultrasound skill. She lives in Burlington, NC with her husband, three beautiful children, and their bearded dragon ”Tumbleweed”. In her free time she enjoys reading, athletics, and creating art.
THREE EXOTIC ANIMALS THAT MAKE GREAT PETS EXOTIC PETS When I was a child I longed for a dog. One that would be my constant companion and, like Lassie, save me if I were to ever fall in a well. Unfortunately, my parents, being the practical people they were, felt that six children were enough living things to say grace over. So I made do smuggling in all sorts of “pocket pets”, some caught in the wild, some secretly purchased and hidden, like the snake I kept in my closet until my sister ratted me out. I thought “when I grow up, I’m gonna live on a farm and have one of everything!” Ironically, now that I am (sigh) a grown up, I find myself a parent to children with severe allergies to animal dander. On the upside, as a veterinarian I do get to interact with animals for a living, and my experiences as a child, and with my own children’s hairless pets, have made me well versed in the care and keeping of exotic pets. Below are a few of my favorites.
BEARDED DRAGONS Bearded Dragons start out as adorable, tiny lizards when purchased as juveniles at the pet store. But beware, they quickly grow much larger and outgrow the 20-gallon aquariums that are marketed to new owners. These animals are actually pretty social, interactive and allow handling. However, unless you have tough skin, once they get larger, will need occasional nail trimming. They are, of course, hairless so they make good pets for people with allergies. As young lizards, they consume mostly live insects, so be prepared to make frequent runs to your local pet store for crickets. Since these are desert animals they do have special temperature, humidity and dietary requirements. Well cared for, they can live up to 10
10
March 2018 www.facebook.com/triadhappytails
years. ‘Beardies’, like other reptiles, can carry salmonella, so hand washing after handling is a must.
FERRETS Ferrets are the clowns of the animal world, and provide non-stop entertainment to their human companions. The origin of the word ferret actually means “little thief,” and living up to their name as they love to steal and hide household items such as sponges and toys. When feeling particularly energetic, they emit a “wheezing” sound, bouncing from side to side as if to say “Come on! Let’s play!”. Escape artists, they must be observed closely when allowed loose in the house. Ferrets require enclosed, secure housing with adequate space and ventilation and will use a litter box if confined. Ferrets can be biters and love toes and socks, so best to keep shoes on when they are loose. The biggest downside to ferret ownership is odor. Ferrets are de-scented and neutered as “kits” before being delivered to pet stores, but don’t expect that to remove their entire musky odor because they have scent glands on their head that can’t be removed. Domesticated ferrets, sadly, only live 4-5 years since they are prone to multiple cancers.
RATS Rats have historically been associated with disease and are often seen as unwelcome pests. Just the sight of them, with their hairless tail, is enough to send some people running. What people don’t know about rats is how smart, curious, highly social, and easily trained they are. If considering a rat, it is recommended to purchase two and house them together. Recent studies show rats to have a high level of emotional intelligence and they’re capable of traits such as empathy and even a sense of fairness. Despite the stereotype, they are very clean, grooming themselves like a cat. They are larger and don’t move as quickly as smaller common pet rodents such as mice, hamsters and gerbils, and are thus easier to handle. They should be removed from their habitat regularly to share bonding time with their human family; they love to sit in laps or on shoulders while you are relaxing on the couch. Rats recognize their owners, respond to their name, and form lifelong bonds with their family. Sadly, rats don’t live very long, typically only 2-3 years. They are prone to respiratory infections and cancers.

Cover Story
Ed Matthews: 2 the Rescue WFMY’s longtime meteorologist has a passion for helping animals find homes. By Bob Kim
E
very time Ed Matthews walks through Greensboro, he’s greeted by fans who know him for his reliable and friendly weather forecasts. But he is also recognized by people for a completely different reason — they have Matthews to thank for bringing a four-legged family member into their lives. For nine years, Matthews has hosted “2 the Rescue,” a joint effort between WFMY News 2, local shelters and businesses to help homeless pets find homes. Since he started the initiative show in 2009, Matthews has connected an astonishing 1,708 pets with owners — and that number is always growing.
Ed and Rio
A Lifelong Animal Lover Growing up on a farm in Lee County, N.C., Matthews was surrounded by animals of all kinds. “If you walked outside on our farm and said ‘kitty, kitty,’ eight or nine cats would come running from different directions,” he said. “I’ve just always felt close to animals.” When he moved to Greensboro in 1988 to take the meteorologist’s role with WFMY News 2, Matthews volunteered at the Guilford County Animal Shelter and adopted his first rescue, a dog named Reflex. She lived to be almost 18 years old and even became a celebrity after giving birth to puppies on-air during the news. He has since adopted two more pets, including his current dog Rio, who came from Rockingham County. It was in 2009 that Matthews and a colleague at the station discussed taking a film crew to the Guilford County Animal Shelter to show the animals. “We wanted to get all the animals adopted in one day,” he recalls. “But after talking about it, it became clear that we could actually make it a one-hour TV special.” Boosting the Odds of Adoption When the first episode of “2 the Rescue” aired in October of 2009, it allowed Matthews and WFMY News 2 to drastically increase the number of pets who were able to find forever homes. “In the past, before ‘2 the Rescue’ came into existence, we’d had a Pet of the Week on ‘The Good Morning Show,’ usually on Fridays,” Matthews recalls. “But the concept of having an hour-long show and showing as many as 27 to 30 animals in an hour was something that was very new not only to WFMY, but to this market. And I don’t know of any other markets around that do this type of thing.” WFMY airs “2 the Rescue” twice a year, in April and October. In addition to those one-hour specials, Matthews and co-host Tracey McCain spearhead

Ed Matthews and Tracey McCain the effort to feature animals on “The Good Morning Show” program every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. “So we feature five animals weekly on ‘The Good Morning Show’ and about 27 to 30 on each of the one-hour shows twice a year,” he says. Matthews encourages anyone interested in finding a home for an animal or welcoming one to their family to visit the “2 the Rescue” Facebook page, which has about 3,000 followers and is always growing. “I always tell rescue groups to share what they’re doing about animals up for adoption, fundraisers, spay/neuter events, vaccination discounts, etc., on the page,” Matthews says. Harnessing the Power of Television Even after all these years of “2 the Rescue”, Matthews is still amazed at the power of television to connect animals with new families. “Once we started ‘2 the Rescue,’ I discovered my love for getting animals adopted through the power of television -- showcasing these animals in front of a TV camera so thousands of people can see these animals that are up for adoption that just simply want a loving home and a family to be with.” Matthews gets to see the fruits of his labor every time he visits the shelter. After ‘2 the Rescue’ airs on Saturday morning at 8:00 am, he likes to drive over to the shelter and greet people who are lined up to adopt the dogs that the program featured. It Takes a Village Ed wouldn’t be able to do what he does without the support of the “2 the Rescue” sponsors. Happy Tails Veterinary Emergency Services (the title sponsor) and All Pets Considered are two local businesses who have sponsored the program since it started in 2009. Last year, Hart Appliance Center also joined as a sponsor. Beyond Cats and Dogs The rescue groups that work with Matthews and McCain don’t just bring dogs and cats to feature on television. He has showcased and found homes for a myriad of other animals as well, including rodents, ferrets, guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters, and even a horse. 2 the Rescue has worked with almost all of the animal adoption organizations in the Piedmont. And on the April 7th program (8:00am – 9:00am), they will work with the Humane Society of Davie County, the Animal Rescue & Foster Program, and Guilford County Animal Services. Building Unconditional Love As someone who grew up on a farm, Matthews has an acute understanding of what drives animals’ behavior. “It’s all about unconditional love,” he says. “If we could somehow give a big dose of that to every person on the planet, what a better world this would be. All animals want is to be loved. That’s all they want! And they deserve love.”

DOB 12/1/17. I am a DSH black tuxedo. My brother Hansel and I were found living outside. At my foster mom’s we live with 4 cats/kittens and 3 small dogs. There’s lots of activity going on all the time. I am shy but each day am exploring more areas of the home. I like to be held but not for too long. Please give me a forever home. Siri.
DOB May 2017. I am a DLH orange tabby. I love to be petted on my back and have my belly rubbed. If you don’t pet me I will rub against your legs to show how much I like you. I enjoy lounging on chairs and looking out at the birds. I live with 3 small dogs, 4 cats and another kitten. I am looking for a loving home as I came from a home with 64 cats/kittens. Please consider me to join your family.
DOB: 4/12/17. Siri is a playful, goofy kitten who is looking for her new home. Born in the wild countryside, she now loves the indoor life. Her favorite pastimes include: chasing toy mice; jumping in the shower as soon as someone finishes (and sometimes, when she can’t wait, she jumps in while it’s still going!); and playing with other cats. She is very talkative, especially when it’s time for dinner, or when she’s trying to find someone to play with. She loves to sleep at the end of the bed, keeping your toes nice and warm!

Bambi came from a 39 dog hoarding situation in TN. She is estimated to be between 10-12 years old due to the condition of her teeth, but she acts much younger. She is very sweet, but shy at first. Bambi weighs seven lbs. and she will need Chihuahua Rescue work on house-training as she had never seen the light of day before being rescued from the hoarder. Bambi is spayed, UTD on shots and on HW preventative.

You can meet this handsome guy at Burlington Animal Services, 221 Stone Quarry Rd., Burlington or call 336-578-0343 for more information. n
Buffy is a lovely, sweet kitty. She was a great mother to four babies, all were adopted. Buffy has been in a room with another great cat, but they are not the best of friends. Given some patience and a little time to adjust, she’ll make a nice addition to a home. She has a little bit of mischief to her nature, but that makes her interesting! She’s been vetted, microchipped and is ready for her new home. Adoption donation is $25 and we will need references from a vet. Purrfect Friends Cat Rescue

is a sweet, 10 year old kitty who is looking for someone to pet her, as well as a loving lap. She is very loving to people and would like a home with a feline companion to keep her company when her human isn’t home. She loves sunny windows, light play with the red dot or a shoe string, and your doting attention.
is a very sweet kitten who was found abandoned in the parking lot of a Truliant Credit Union. She was very grateful to have been rescued and lets you know so by purring in your arms when cuddled. She can be a little timid at first, but will warm up to you as she gets to know you. She is very playful, loves attention and loves taking naps in small spaces. She enjoys playing with toys and hiding in her tunnel. She loves playing and wrestling with other cats and would be happy to have one in her forever home. AvaMay
Looking for a feline companion who is lively, loves attention, and always up for a game or two (especially if it involves lasers)? If so, then you should meet Happy! Happy is just over two years old but he still has all the energy and curiosity of a kitten. He has a blast playing with his toys and discovering everything about his home, but his favorite thing by far is a little love and attention from his person/people or a feline companion. He is currently in a foster home that has several dogs and cats. He will make an excellent companion and addition to any family.
is the sweetest girl you will meet! All she wants is a forever family that will give her lots of love and will allow her to give kisses freely. Ava loves to take long walks and explore outside but her favorite thing to do is to lay on the couch with you and cuddle! Despite Ava being slightly older, she is full of energy. She loves to play with other dogs and has gotten along beautifully with children. She is heartworm positive but is on monthly prevention to treat her condition. will do well with other dogs.
I’m Sophie, a spayed 2 year old American Pit Bull Terrier mix. I am loving, loyal, and told I am extremely cute and smart. In three weeks, I have learned to sit, lay down, roll over, give paw, and wait until I’m told it’s okay to eat. I love to walk, run and play outside. I also love to cuddle and give hugs! I am pretty calm when at home and am perfectly happy watching TV on the couch, but I get super excited when meeting a new human friend. I have not had any accidents in the house, but when my foster mom is away I like to be in my crate. I prefer to be the only dog but can probably get used to living with another dog. I’ve never met a cat, but would probably do better in a home without one. Please consider giving me my fur-ever home.

energetic and playful one year old! In fact, “play” is his modus operandi! Mewer. It’s me, Mewer, a FAB-ulous feline! Mmmwwaa! Love you! I know you love me, too. I’m about one year young and am incredibly affectionate. On a very cold night, a kind lady put out a box with a pillow in her garage for ferals she feeds and the next morning found moi looking up from the box! I was pretty emaciated, emphasis of course on PRETTY. Now I’m a healthy petite tortie! I love everybody – except would prefer to be the only cat queen of the house!

Joey is a very spunky, happy and social little 13 lb. boy. He wound up in an animal shelter when his family moved and left him, though we don’t know how long he was alone. Joey has the combination of Hart-2-Heart Rescue Pekingese and Pug personalities…he LOVES food, barks at you if you are not preparing his meals fast enough and he is curious, affectionate, self-confident, determined and a wee bit stubborn. If you have ever lived with a Peke or a Pug, Joey will have a very familiar feel. We don’t know his age, but Joey is darling and will make you laugh and smile. Joey is neutered, current on shots, on heartworm prevention and had a teeth cleaning.

This beautiful girl loves playtime and belly rubs and will happily chase the ball in the yard and then come inside and flop over for snuggles. Goose got to go on a field trip and visit the residents at Heritage Place Senior Living where she was an instant hit, bringing smiles and laughter to everyone she met! She walked very nicely on the leash and was an overall wonderful little lady. Come out and meet Goose at the Guilford County Animal Shelter! n
Stella
is a 2 year old spayed female who is looking for a life in the slow lane; she is a calm, goodnatured gal who enjoys going out on walks with the volunteers and staff. Kayla is a sweet pooch with a mellow personality that will make a wonderful addition to a low-key, go-with-theflow family with a spot on the couch just for her.
Kayla
is a 7 year old spayed female who has quickly become a staff and volunteer favorite. This beautiful and unique flower has a gentle, calming personality and loves to get snuggle time with her favorite folks. Stella is waiting for you at the Guilford County Animal Shelter.

Amber
is a pretty, petite one year old in search of a very special home. She was picked up as a stray in Sampson County and is lacking in social skills. GSRA is working with her to improve her skills and confidence. Amber loves other dogs and would benefit greatly from having a canine companion to help show her the ropes. Her perfect owner would have experience with dog anxiety, a privacy fenced yard, and lots of love and patience.

Chipper. Hi! My name is Chipper (#180105). I am a laid-back, 12 year old Golden mix. I am a happy boy, a little shy at first, but very friendly after 10 seconds! I love to greet people at the door with a happily wagging tail! Triad Golden Retriever Rescue I am up for adoption with TGRR and need a forever home with a gentle environment and humans who want to go on gentle walks. I absolutely love to be outside enjoying the fresh air and relaxing in the sunshine or the breeze! I like to enjoy the finer things in life and take it all in, especially with my arthritis, I like to take it one-day-at-a-time, but I know that I have some loving years left in me!

Flash is a gorgeous 6 year old Boxer boy who is looking for his perfect home! He is housebroken, enjoys his crate, does well on a leash, and loves his one-on-one time with his people. Flash is a truly amazing boy but will require an experienced owner who will not let him take charge, and he would do best as an only pet and with older children. Blue Ridge Boxer Rescue This guy is food motivated and listens to voice commands easily. Flash also loves to play ball and go for car rides too! LOVING PET INN ADOPTIONS 336.393.0000 / www.lovingpetinnadoptions.org
Chico
Hannah
is a charming, 5 pound, 12 year old Chihuahua who had always been with a loving owner. He is a super sweet, friendly, calm little pup who is most certainly a professional lap baby and snuggler. Chico wants to be close to his beloved people as much as he possibly can and will make the funniest mewing noises when he feels lonely, which is pretty much any time he is not with you! He is great with strangers, other dogs, and is wonderful on the leash. Adoption donation $125.
is a stunning 4-5 year old, 5 pound kitty that we were told is a Turkish Angora. She does look like one with her long silky fur (a bit scruffy and matted when we got her), ruff around her neck and intelligent amber eyes. Her personality is perfectly described if you read online about the breed. She was good with the 9 year old child, another cat and the dog in her prior home. She is wonderfully calm, sweet and affectionate and does not get tired of being petted like many cats do. Adoption donation $40.

Jack
Newt
is a super energetic, friendly, happy as can be 1 year old, 15 pound boy who was dumped from a car and taken in by a kind person who fostered him for a week. If you are a Jack Russell fan and love the enthusiastic, bouncy, confident, gung ho attitude of the JR, you will love this guy! He has boundless energy, as JR lovers expect, and, since he is still really just a puppy, will need an owner who knows how to work with a super smart dog and reign in that energy a bit. Adoption donation $175.
is a sweet and tender 8 pound 6 year old. He was surrendered to us by a person who said they found him within their fenced yard, hanging out happily with her other dogs. He looks a bit like a Min Pin/Chihuahua mix and has a cropped tail. He loves to go on walks. He keeps his room clean, no accidents. He loves attention but is not demanding. He is snuggly and fun once he is comfy. He would prefer a calmer home to match his personality. Newt would be fine as an only dog or paired with a submissive female pup. Adoption donation $175.
Please see his full listing at www.lovingpetinnadoptions.org. n

Scout
Cassie
is a handsome 71 pound pup, probably around 3 years old, who looks like a yellow Lab or mix. He is healthy and fit, with strong muscles and a thick coat. Scout already knows how to sit and army crawl towards you so he is certainly trainable. He can be overly enthusiastic and energetic if he has not had a lot of activity, so further training after plenty of exercise will be very good for him. He is smart and needs an alpha owner. Scout needs to be an only dog. He is house-trained and crate-trained. Adoption donation $175.
is a 3 year old, 47 pound Flat Coated Retriever/ Chow/Spaniel mix (?) who is perfectly house-trained, knows the commands sit, down, wait, leave it, shake, stay, watch me, and heel, and is so loving to her owner. She is super smart, totally non-destructive in the house and is beautifully behaved here at our kennel. However, she has some serious issues with being protective of her owner, home and food, and can be aggressive with strangers, visitors, kids and other dogs. Please see her full listing for details. We are hoping that the correct, very experienced, alpha person will step forward and help her rehabilitate into the great dog she was meant to be. Adoption donation $100.

Mindy. I’m a playful, adventuresome, white and gray short hair gal, about two years old. I’ve always been healthy, so FCAP volunteers decided that my sibling and I were worth socializing for a forever home. Observant and cautious around people new to me, I become trusting over time. I’m spayed, vaccinated, Feral Cat Assistance Program and FeLV/FIV negative. My adoption fee is only $50. If you’re looking for a purrfect friend to keep you company on a long winter’s night, I’m your lady. Please contact feralcatassistance.org or 336-378-0878. n
Guinness loves everyone and everything - people of all sizes, dogs, cats, etc. He is a super happy guy who just wants to be around people. He likes going for short walks, but doesn’t go long distances. He was hit by a car last summer and has fully recovered, but too much walking is a bit tough on him. If you work from Merit Pit Bull home or spend a lot of time around the house, he would be more than happy to keep you company. Betty
came to us after being found with a gun shot wound and lethargic. We immediately sent her to our vet for assessment, wound care and much needed TLC. Betty is now in foster care and ready to find her forever home. We don’t know what her life was like prior to coming to us but we do know that she is very sweet and loves all people unconditionally even after her trauma! A huge thank you to ma Cares and the maC.A.R.E.S. Fund for helping us cover her medical expenses. It takes a village to save a life! Learn more and apply online at www.reddogfarm.com. n

If interested in these two fill out the application for both. Their adoption fee is $30 for both. Learn more at www.reddogfarm.com. n
Buster
Ollie. This kitty is such a sweetheart! Ollie came to RDF after he was found outside by a very concerned woman who wanted to make sure he got the care he needed. He needed some treatment for severe allergies when he first came in. He had a bad reaction to bug and fly bites. He is now feeling a lot better! Ollie does well with the dog and other small furry critters in his foster home. We will be requiring an indoor home for this chill dude only because of his allergies that seem to be aggravated when he was outside. Ollie is a great cat who loves to be loved on and likes to “talk” to his humans! If you are interested in adopting Ollie, please apply online at www.reddogfarm.com. n
Petunia
is a 9 month old pot belly pig that is adorable and super sweet. She was given as a gift to a very nice lady that just was not able to provide the proper home so she reached out to Red Dog Farm for help. Petunia may have been loved just a little more than she needed in the food department but with the proper diet she will slim down to a more appropriate weight. Petunia is in quarantine right now and will be up-to-date on her shots before being adopted out to a new family. Please stay tuned for more updates on this sweet girl or apply to adopt her at www.reddogfarm.com. n
Paco
was surrendered to animal control when his owner simply did not want to be bothered by him any more. We believe Buster (gelding) is approximately 27 years old and is a Tennessee Walking horse. His foster family reports he is a kind soul and we’d love to see him get the proper retirement he deserves. He has been ridden since he is now healthy and proved to be a great riding partner. His foster mom took him for a walk through the woods with other horses and Buster was a happy, safe lead horse. His ears stayed up the entire time and when he was asked to stop and wait for the slowest 2 horses to catch up, he waited patiently. Do not count this horse out because of his age...he has a lot to offer to the right home and will warm your heart with his easygoing personality!
is a 13 year old standard neutered donkey that came to us as a stray picked up by animal control. He is very sweet and really enjoys having his ears scratched. Paco is doing great in his foster home and his foster mom reports he is a pleasure to have in the herd. Since Paco has been managed properly and has lost weight he is now able to go out and graze in the pasture with the herd. We still do not think he needs to be on lush pasture 24/7 but he has stayed healthy while maintained on some dry lot time with longer time in the pasture with the herd of his horse friends. Paco will make a perfect companion or farm guardian.

Fluffy's
tail is always a blur, especially when he meets new people! Confiscated for neglect and tethering, when he entered our program he had injuries sustained from a tether being wrapped around his leg. Additionally, one year old Fluffy was heartworm positive. Fluffy would be a great first dog, only dog or companion dog. He lives with other dogs and children, enjoys playing with toys and loves everyone he meets. He had a tough start in life, but now he’s ready for his new forever home!

Chef is a major hunk who is also a fun pup to pal around with. He enjoys walks, running around the yard, playing with stuffed toys, taking naps with you, and belly rubs. Irma. This lovely 5 year old Dobergirl came to us after having been picked up as a stray. She may have been used as a breeder in the past, but now she is spayed. Based on what we’ve seen so far, she is a happy and well-adjusted Doberman Rescue of the Triad lady. She’s absolutely delighted to receive any attention she can get, and humorously, she indicates her delight with a nonstop “helicopter tail” when someone shows her a bit of love. It’s really precious to see! She has a beautiful, deep red coat and is healthy and at ease. She’s a little larger-thanaverage for Dobergirls, but she’s none the wiser for that fact, and she carries herself with confidence and ease. Read more about Irma at www.doberman-rescue.com. Make an appointment to meet her after your application has been approved.

DAVIDSON COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER 336.357.0805 / www.co.davidson.nc.us/animalshelter
Raisin is almost 3 years old and deems herself the personal greeter of the cat room. She is more than likely the first cat to say hello to folks when they come to visit. So you may be asking yourself, “why hasn’t she been adopted yet?” Well, Raisin is a bit spoiled. She likes things her way and wants things when she wants them. When she desires a good head scratch, she will let you know that she desires affection at this time. Otherwise, she is content and happy to watch the birds from a sunny window. Raisin is spayed, fully vaccinated, negative for FIV/FELV, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is only $25 from the Davidson County Animal Shelter. Please stop by to meet Raisin or call 336-357-0805 for more information. n
Jennings
is his name and being handsome is his game. He is a 6 year old guy who enjoys lounging on the cat tower watching the other cats while waiting for a head rub. Don’t let his age fool you because this boy is young at heart. Jennings’ adoption fee is only $30. Won’t you please be his human? Jennings is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped and negative for FIV/FElV. Please call the Davidson County Animal Shelter at 336-357-0805 if you have any questions. n
Canyon Bell is a bundle of fun and energy with a smile for everyone! This beautiful hound mix is 3 years old and would love to be part of an active family. Cannon Bell loves kids but would probably be a better fit for a home with older kids because of her size and energy level. Her favorite thing to do is go for walks in the woods where she can sniff and explore. She is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and has already started treatment for her heartworms. Canyon Bell’s adoption fee is $45. Please call the Davidson County Animal Shelter at 336-357-0805 for more information. n
Andromeda
is one of the biggest constellations in the sky. Andromeda also has one of the biggest personalities at the shelter! She is a very sweet girl who enjoys a nice petting session and the occasional belly rub. Andromeda also loves to explore and play but prefers to spend time perched in a sunny window. She is only a year old and has been waiting for a forever home since she was a kitten. Please call the Davidson County Animal Shelter at 336-357-0805 for more information. Her adoption fee is only $25. n
Lydia.
If you’ve been looking for love in all the wrong places, then look no further than the lovely Lydia! She is a 2-3 year old Lab/Boxer mix that hasn’t been very lucky in finding the love of her life. Lydia is a bit of a wallflower until she gets to know you. From living a previously neglected life, Lydia is positive for heartworms but has already started treatment. Her adoption fee is only $70 and includes her spay, vaccinations, and microchip. If you are interested in Lydia, please give the Davidson County Animal Shelter a call at 336-357-0805 to learn more about her. n
Radley
is a ruggedly handsome boy who is eager to please, especially when treats are involved. One look at this face and you’ll want to shower him with kisses. He loves to play and wrestle with other dogs. Radley is a cuddle bug that prefers the comfort of his human’s furniture to that of his own doggie bed. In fact, Radley prefers to be with his human 100% of the time. We aren’t sure what happened in his past to cause his neediness when it comes to being with people, but if you welcome this boy into your home, then you will never be alone. Radley is neutered, fully vaccinated, negative for heartworms, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $70 at the Davidson County Animal Shelter. n www.triadhappytails.com March 2018
