NATIONAL SCHOOL BUS SAFETY WEEK Submitted by Mr. JJ Calhoun, Management & Program Analyst DoDEA Pacific West Community Superintendent Office - Guam 4
Observed annually during the third full week of October each year, National School Bus Safety Week is an active and evolving public education program and an excellent way for parents, students, school administrators, teachers, motorists, school bus drivers, and our other DoDEA stakeholders to join forces and address the importance of school bus safety. While the school bus is and remains one of the safest ways for students to get to and from school, there are now added precautions in place to support a safe and
healthy environment on the school bus due to COVID-19. These include, but are not limited to, the wearing of masks, the use of hand sanitizer, and open/cracked windows to improve the air circulation within the school bus. National School Bus Safety week is an ideal time to reinforce DoDEA’s school bus safety rules with our student bus riders and show your appreciation to your school bus driver and staff for their hard work and professionalism.
